Near the Oculus in New York City is the Fulton Center. What a great place for architectural photography!

No poem today. Just a simple picture made while out with the #igersbuffalo group for a #buffinstameet.
The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami, built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916, is located right on the coast in Miami, and has a ‘stone barge’ placed in the water which acts as a breakwater and protection for the mansion. This stone barge is a work of art in itself, with a number of mermaids, at the bow and stern of the barge, and on top of the barge. It was created by American sculptor Alexander Stirling Calder between 1917 and 1919.
Aurora Borealis over the 'Black Church' of Búðakirkja, Búðir, Snæfellesnes, Iceland.
There was a last quarter moon behind the camera lighting up the southern side of the kirk. The sleeping volcano of Snæfellesjokull is wreathed in cloud behind the flag pole.
Approx. 23:00 hrs 29 September 2017. Have been playing around with mono versions of aurora images. Still not quite there yet but the church comes out best in this one.
Fuji X-T2, XF14/2.8, 6.5 secs at f/2.8, ISO 5000
The XF14/2.8 is a nice sharp landscape lens but manifests a deal of sagittal astigmatism for astro.
Captured in Roddlesworth Woods, this image explores the quiet pull of a forest path as it disappears into a tunnel of trees. The composition uses the natural curve of the woodland track and the vertical rhythm of the trunks to guide the viewer forward, creating a sense of calm movement and discovery.
Soft patches of sunlight break through the canopy, illuminating the leaf-covered ground and adding warmth to the deep greens and earthy browns of the scene. The image feels both peaceful and immersive, celebrating the timeless character of ancient woodland and the restorative atmosphere of walking through nature.

Sunday 19.3.2017- no lightning to speak of just a couple of storm cells moving through the Junee Shire NSW Australia, from east to west. Normally tracking west to east.
We've been getting a lot of rain the past couple of days and it looks like we're only going to be getting more.
When I was going through my images of this particular bronco ride, I was struck by 2 different looks. In mid-flight, this horse was a specimen to be admired. But when on the ground, you could see the effort this horse was making and there is a definite sense of pain.

As the firmament spins around us
and seasons change,
Think on this:
People come and people go,
the outrage on the media
is both constant and
everchanging.
We can endure. We can flourish.
Or we can whither on the vine.

Nestled among rugged rock formations and native woodland, this secluded waterfall feeds a crystal-clear pool, creating a scene of remarkable tranquillity. Captured along Nether Beck, the image highlights the beauty found away from the grand vistas and mountain summits that often dominate landscape photography.
The clear water reveals every stone beneath the surface, while the surrounding rocks, trees, and heather provide texture and depth. It is a quiet corner where the gentle movement of water contrasts with the permanence of the landscape, offering a moment of calm and connection with nature.

A sweeping mountain landscape stretches across the horizon beneath a dramatic sky filled with towering clouds and patches of vivid blue. Rolling moorland occupies the foreground, leading the eye toward a rugged chain of sunlit fells and rocky ridges in the distance. The interplay of light and shadow creates depth and atmosphere, with shafts of sunlight illuminating sections of the landscape while darker clouds cast broad shadows across the valleys. The scene conveys the wild, open character and ever-changing weather that define the Lake District.

I get to see more of any stunning skies that may be on offer after the clocks go back. Whereas before I was generally at home, looking wistfully out of the window whilst (lovingly) refereeing some kind of fracas between the offspring.

Two shots of the Old Man of Storr playing Peek-a-boo in the mist. This viewpoint only worked with the cloud behind the Old Man bouncing the pinacle out from the cliffs behind. Then the Storr peeped out too... The Troternish Peninsula is made up of truly bonkers geology, and when the Skye weather starts to play the pace gets truly magical.
I woke up to this scene this morning. I was only a little bit late to work!
Taken at Wattle Flat, Victoria.
It may rain but theres still so much beauty in liverpool, enjoy it, like i did taking this, regardless of the rain....

In fact, it's just a photograph of a desert plant - rotated and mirrored... :))

Pretty hard SE breeze, the high key tones help pick out how bleak this place can be. Makes me wonder just how hardy must have been those who worked the land.
