The brown honeyeater (Lichmera indistincta) belongs to the honeyeaters, a group of birds found mainly in Australia and New Guinea. They have highly developed brush-tipped tongues adapted for nectar feeding. It is a medium-small brownish bird, with yellow-olive panels in the tail and wing, and a yellow tuft behind the eye.
These very small birds have a hard time in our backyard being chased away by the larger blue faced honeyeaters and the little wattle birds.

I love art museums, and not only for the art housed within. Art museums often have some of the most amazing interior architectures, offering striking graphical lines and shapes. That's the case with this iconic staircase in the National Museum of Art in Washington DC.
The Smithsonian museums are definitely some of the greatest museums in the world, ranging across a wide range of subjects and topics. Each is an excellent place to go and get lost for an afternoon, especially during the hot and muggy summer months in DC.

Dynjandi Waterfall at the head of Arnarfjörður.
Dynjandifoss AKA Fjallfoss is around 100m high. It's approximately 30m wide at the top and around 60m at the bottom and cascades in a series of terraces. It's very pretty. There are a series of smaller waterfalls below it (see my previous post) with Hæstajallafoss pictured here in the center of the shot.
It was raining pretty heavily at the time with a big shower blotting out the upper/middle part of the frame. However, the cloud actually helped flatten the light out which was good.
I'm not much for humans in the landscape but made an exception here where another traveller adds a sense of scale to the scene. I kinda wish I'd shot it a bit tighter from this spot with the XF23 (35mm) but there you go... maybe next time :-)

The Henty Dunes are a very large dune field on the northern end of Ocean Beach on Tasmania's west coast. The dunes are fed with sand mainly from Macquarie Harbour to the south and the Henty Rivers that flow in from the north. The constant west sou-west of the Roaring Forties off the Southern Ocean (in the distance) have generated a significant dune-scape here since the end of the Pleistocene Ice Age.
These ancient dunes are so well established that small rainforest habitats have appeared on them. Towards the northern end of the dunes, the preserved footprints or ichnofossils of Australian mega-fauna can be found in some secret between-dune depressions while the footprints of contemporary birds and wildlife surround active soaks. The fading, parallel tracks of a wallaby can be made out above the foreground sand ripples.

The Wadden Sea is one of the world's most important tidal flats. A large and unique nature reserve - a place full of life and experiences. The Wadden Sea is both the still surface water and the turbulent ocean outside the dike.

Yew Tree Tarn is a small lake in the English Lake District situated in between the towns of Ambleside and Coniston next to the A592 road. The tarn was formed when the local landowner James Marshall dammed the Yewdale Beck in the 1930s and stocked the lake with trout. Currently, fishing for brown and rainbow trout is controlled and managed by the Coniston and Torver Angling Association. A usable footpath runs around the periphery of the tarn not bordered by the main road. Wikipedia
A number of complex low pressure systems are rotating around the island at the moment. The unstable air masses have been triggering short heavy showers and this is one of those.

This pic is from the Ricoh GRiii, used as a light meter for the Fuji 6x9. There won't be a picture from that camera of this scene - the heavens opened and I had to scramble for the car before I'd had a chance to set up.

The Northern Lights started right on sunset just as we rolled off the ferry from the Westfjörðs in Stykkishólmur.
As we had a very tight time limit to get to the accommodation in Grundarfjörður and check-in, I was watching the sky with high anxiety - the show could just stop at any moment.
So when the terrain opened out and I saw the water with the Aurora above the last of the sunset glow we stopped for 15 mins to shoot and run. The outlook is kinda WNW. The red glow left centre is a car on Route 54.

Three frame manual stitch panorama in PS. Neither LR or PS wanted to stitch the pano as the individual images are quite complex. I have a single frame with a meteorite/space junk flare on my IG account but it seemed just a bit too fake to drop it in here!
Lido Sands was once a popular tourist attraction when everyone wanted to visit Margate beach for the summer holidays, but since a storm in the 70’s it has not recovered. As well as the Lido sands and baths it includes a grand hall and some smaller function rooms which were used for the "sedction" raves as well as other events.

TO EVERYONE OUT THERE, PLEASE TAKE CARE.
Not every shot in my collection shows one of these pros soaring through the air in the midst of a spectacular trick. I think this one show just the punishment these riders can take. Keep in mind, the demo was happening pretty close to shore, so the waters were 2.5-4 feet deep.

McLean Bay lies in front of the camera with Seymour Point (aka Long Pt.) marking the northern end. Paddys Head over the top of the point. The tip of land at the very edge of the view is Wardlaws Point which has an infrequent left hand break known locally as Harry Flobknob's... :-)

Theme: DOGS (OR CATS)
I was actually going to have my cat Bastet in the shot since she was hanging out on this cardboard box, but by time I got the stuff to take a photo she decided she had important cat stuff to do elsewhere, lol. 😆

Western Lowland Gorilla
I visited the Melbourne Zoo during the school holidays in April 2021 and took a few shots of the Western Lowland Gorilla. During the visit the Gorilla was having a lay down and playing with the straw so I thought i would capture a few shots. Image was captured using a Nikon D610 & Tamron 150-600mm, the image was Sharpened using Topaz Sharpen AI (because I was shooting hand held and it had a bit of motion blur) and was edited using The Nik Collection's Silver Efex Pro 2.
