For those of us trying to come up with our resolutions for the New Year, I just wanted you to know that he is available for consultation at the "Urging Department" of the Dongyue Temple.

According to the helpful sign located at his Urging Department at the temple:

"Urging means pressing on to go ahead. Taoist creed holds anyone who exceed himself in Taoism should not only obey the Taoist code, but also go ahead with accomplishing good deeds"

Something to consider in the New Year. You can leave an offering and red tablet prayer at the front of his Department. Perhaps he will be of assistance, you never know!

Have a happy and safe New Year!

i haven't exactly verbalized it

(fgr made me do it)

but i know it's my new year's resolution:

yoga in the studio in the morning

which leads to . . .

Woody Guthrie's 33 (!) New Years Resolutions that he made in 1941 (for 1942) give us a view of an optimistic, serious, sensitive, funny man. Just dealing with the nine I chose to print here present a challenge but nearly 70 years on can't we all feel the resonance/relevance of the last one?

Emma wanted to duplicate my "awesome" idea for a New Years resolution to post on her my space. She was really clever with her's... For those of you who don't know my daughter she is a senior in high school. She is barely 5 feet tall and might be 100 lbs soaking wet. Her friends have always playfully teased her about how tiny she is. Even though she is petite, her intelligence, maturity, and personality are larger than life. When she talks about continuing to grow as a person I know she is referring to leaving for college this upcoming fall. While I realize every parent has to face the day their kids "leave the nest", I just can't believe it is already here. Needless to say I'm not quite really sure how I feel about 2008 and the New Year!

Question 30: Help the Library write its New Year's Resolutions! "In 2013 we will_______"

Hereios - New Years Resolution

I've learned to be realistic with my resolutions each year. I've given up on those impossible resolutions (lose weight, get more energy, find a girlfriend), so at the start of the year, I start thinking about places I want to go during the year. Naturally, the big trip is the summer vacation, and like I said earlier in the week, now that I'm not afraid of flying, that's opened me up to travel farther (and in less time). So where is it that I hope to go next summer?

went for a mile, wound up with five. Happy 2012!
