Scott and I ventured a little out of the city to visit a bazaar that pops up in the fall, we went last year and enjoyed the unique offerings and items but found this year to be almost exactly the same as the year before.
A bit disappointing since we we're both hoping to find new treasures, we left with nothing other than a chill from the cement flooring.
I was the driver and when I spotted this horse on the side of the road, I pulled over. I rarely see horses in the city, especially ones with wonderful coats, so I couldn't resist.
Scott stayed in the car warming his feet while I ventured across the road.
At least something came from the journey. :)

Roars, chirps, tweets and neighing all at once next to the ancient tree, they called her Root Mother, she could not speak but communicated still be her whispering leaves, they say she was around before the dinosaurs emerged...
The co-chairmen of the meeting the wise Moose, the fierce Lion and the magical Unicorn all said in one voice:

This cat is our dog's archenemy. Glad Mr B, our dog, didn't see the cat, who happens to be quite pretty. But, it's on OUR property.

Abbey got to heaven
Get your Kleenex out. This is one of the most touching stories e-mailed to me in a long time.
This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced. I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a kind soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, "To Meredith" in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, "When a Pet Dies." Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredit h and this note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I am wherever there is love.

They've done their best to train her, however, after earning her a broken leg from said training, due to not having a clue how to handle a blind horse, Bailey was surrendered to Hoofproud Ranch, where she's properly cared for.

We have decided that now is a good time to show you guys what we have been working on for the past 8 months. We know that it's been a while since our last printed figure came out, and we know that you all have been waiting for this particular figure for a very long time. Well that wait is neigh to ending.
Introducing Killstrike, who is based on a popular TV show. Killstrike features 360° PAD PRINTING, yes, PAD PRINTING. He even has 3 color arm printing.
We estimate that this figure will be released sometime in spring 2015, along with several other figures.

Rock pipit (Anthus petrosus)
Meaning behind the name:
Anthus = Greek myth; Anthus' son was killed by his fathers horses and changed into a bird which imitated the neighing of horses (not litterally) but fled at their sight.
petrosus = Latin meaning "Rock, stone" defined as: "full of rocks." Refers to the habitat along the rocky coast where the bird is found.
Pipits were once thought to be a type of lark. But, in 1768 the English term "pipit" was used by birdwatchers in the neighbourhood of London in imitation of the Meadow pipits "pip-it" type call. It was Bechstein who separated the pipits from the larks in 1795, and a new family group name for them was created (using the Greek Anthus in their scientific name.)
There were three main species recorded: Meadow, Rock and Tree pipit, and all three were officially documented by 1843 by Yarrell.

This girl is so spirited that she bosses 10 horses, including all the males at her farm, and is kept segregated to give the rest breathing room. However, she still manages to have her say even from a distance. When she neighs from her side of the fence, the rest of them listen, LOL!

Georgia O'Keeffe Style.
These tiny apples are on my neighbors tree in their backyard and hang into our yard. By the time they mature they will no doubt have more holes and blemishes on them. I will be taking some again this year for apple desserts. I have very generous neighbours who don't mind sharing with me.

Angus and Merida have been removed from the diorama (cardboard backing). They are still attached to each other, and have various packaging wires wrapped around them. From the other side of Angus, you can see various wires around Angus, as well as Merida's left arm attached to a plastic spacer.
My first look at the 2 piece Brave Angus and Merida Doll Set. It was released by the Disney Store on Monday May 14, 2012 online and in stores, along with many other Brave merchandise. It's cost is $39.50 US.

Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Bahamas, is one of the most beautiful places I have visited.
The luxury resort (Coral Sands) my then companion and I stayed at was expensive, but right on the beach, and absolutely worth the experience.
Relaxing on the talcum powder soft pink natural sand, as the day was ending, I witnessed this pair of horses, making soft neigh sounds, feeling ease as they headed home, nigh the high seas, with a cruise ship passing by in the distance of the shining Caribbean waters.
