After navigating the shallow waters of Inle Lake and documenting its mystical fishermen, I visited the teak wood monastery of Shwe Yan Pyay, where I made this photograph of a young monk peeking out of the building's distinctive oval windows. In all my travels around the World, I honestly feel Myanmar is one of the few places left where the simple pleasures of travel remain intact. I long for the opportunity to return to this remarkable land soon!

After tackling the grade up from Tumulla, GM27, 4910 and GM22 have a break and ease down into Newbridge with 8M25 empty SSR ballast train from Wallerawang/Tarana to Talbragar.

NR90 navigates through Fosters Corner on the approach to Belair in the Adelaide Hills as 7MA8.
After 133 years of service, The Overland is finished, for now.
With the Victorian state government subsidy running out on 31 March and the coronavirus crisis sweeping the globe, talks regarding the future of this service between Melbourne and Adelaide have no doubt stopped. We will have to wait and see in the coming months if this service will rise again.
However until then, one would assume The Overland is no longer.

Time for a brief stroll along the Canal at lunchtime today during a break from a day of computer training. There were a pair of Mute Swans, the male of which was "pestering" the female who duly took off just above the water and flew off along the Canal to somewhere a little safer, though not for long as the male soon followed.
X31 leads T356, S303 and T386 through Numurkah as 9374 to Vic Dock from Tocumwal in Southern NSW.
