Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. What I always find to be amazing about old cathedrals, is of course their stained glass. When observed from a wide angle, the glass gives off so much color and light that its stunning.

Hot lips plant has just the kind of pucker you might expect from the moniker, but the pair of lips are actually the plant’s flower.
There are over 2,000 species of Psychotria, the genus under which hot lips falls. Where does hot lips grow? Psychotria elata is part of the tropical rainforest understory flora of the Americas. It is a unique plant with uninteresting flowers but fabulous lip-like bracts. The plant can be difficult to grow and has very special cultivation conditions.
Hot lips grows as a shrub or small tree. The plant has deeply veined simple leaves of matte green. The flower is actually a pair of modified leaves that pout around the tiny star-like white to cream flowers. These become small bluish-black berries. The plant is very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Unfortunately, the plant is severely threatened due to habitat destruction and development. It is nearly impossible to get the plant or seeds here in the States. It is a common gift plant in Central America, however, usually for Valentine’s Day.
Mt. Rundle, the prominent wedge-shaped peak immediately south of the town of Banff, is one of the most popular climbs in the Canadian Rockies.

Now when I go to Brazil sometimes I meet my father and he's very proud of me, even though he never helped me in my education or anything. Before I used to hate my father because that, but know I accpet him. He's old now and I forgive him.

I was happy to get this photo of a Yellow-faced honeyeater feeding on a bottlebrush flower they have come to my area on their southern migration. They are quick birds and they don't stay still for long.

On Saturday, I did my first Moth Week event of the year. Three more to go. This time I was invited to setup for a city park for their first ever moth night. The next two are state parks. Then my friend's garden. I am not a moth expert (I like talking about spiders more), but I know enough and it is fun to share what I do know with people.
We had over 40 moth species at the park. I am sure there were many more, but it is hard to photograph everything while educating visitors about them. But that means less effort posting them all to iNaturalist. I would know hardly anything about moths if not for iNaturalist.
This Rindgea moth is very common here but can't be identified to species. I don't often get a chance to do an artistic moth shot. Moth sheets aren't very aesthetic. This one landed on some leaves just as I turned off my lights.

My wife was sick in bed on our wedding anniversary, a couple weeks ago. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up medication for her, I checked out the plush toys they were selling for Valentine's Day. Maybe a soft animal, adorned with a little heart, could serve to comfort her as she recovered, while also noting our anniversary.
Nah! Jan's not the soft and frilly type. Instead, I opted for this garden ornament. And, she loves it! Janice gave it a prominent place on top of her clothing wardrobe, where she can see it each time she enters the bedroom. At least for the rest of the winter. She's so glad I didn't go for the plush toy.
Now that she's feeling better, she's trying to decide on a name for the new gargoyle.

Out today with Pauls Pix 53 for a wander around Nymans. We had originally planned to do macros, but it was so windy, we soon gave up that idea.
We also met up with Paul's 89 year old friend John, whom we at times struggled to keep up with!

With their nocturnal habit and owl-like appearance, Tawny Frogmouths are often confused with owls, but are actually more closely related to the nightjars.
Identification
The general plumage of the Tawny Frogmouth is silver-grey, slightly paler below, streaked and mottled with black and rufous. A second plumage phase also occurs, with birds being russet-red. The eye is yellow in both forms, and the wide, heavy bill is olive-grey to blackish. South-eastern birds are larger than birds from the north. Tawny Frogmouths are nocturnal birds (night birds). During the day, they perch on tree branches, often low down, camouflaged as part of the tree.
Habitat
The Tawny Frogmouth can be seen in almost any habitat type (except the denser rainforests and treeless deserts), including heath, forest and woodlands, urban and rural areas.
Distribution
The Tawny Frogmouth is found throughout Australia, including Tasmania.
Feeding and diet
The bulk of the Tawny Frogmouth's diet is made up of nocturnal insects, worms, slugs and snails. Small mammals, reptiles, frogs and birds are also eaten. Most food is obtained by pouncing to the ground from a tree or other elevated perch. Some prey items, such as moths, are caught in flight, which has led to many unfortunate instances of birds being hit by cars while chasing insects illuminated in the beam of the headlights.
Other behaviours and adaptations
During the day, the Tawny Frogmouth perches on a tree branch, often low down, camouflaged as part of the tree.
Communication
A soft, deep and continuous low oom oom oom. Also makes a loud hissing noise when threatened.
Breeding behaviours
Tawny Frogmouths have a regular breeding season, but birds in more arid areas may breed in response to heavy rains. Both sexes incubate the eggs. The male sits during the day, but both sexes share sitting at night. The nest is a loose platform of sticks, which is usually placed on a horizontal forked tree branch. Normally only one brood is raised in a season, but birds from the south may have two.

The name of the bridge derives from a popular legend,probably fueled by the tormented constructive vicissitudes
of the building: it is said that to build the bridge, the people of Cividale had asked thr Devil for help.
The latter woud demand in teturn the soul of the first creature to pass over the bridge.
Having accepted the pact, in a single night the Devil erected the bridge,but the next morning
the citizens let an animal pass over the bridge.
a cat or a dog or,even,a pig,according to other versions......Apparently, at certain times of the
year someone heard noises,similar to grunts,coming from the riverbed around the bridge...
The Devil thus mocked,had to settle for the soul of the animal,leaving the people of Cividale forever in peace !!

Outside on a hot summer afternoon, my son, River, was taking a break and snacking on his gummy bears. He flashed a mischievous smile at me as I sneaked a photo shot. This was taken during the midst of the pandemic. Although it was an anxious time, we took time to treasure moments outdoors together. I loved the expression captured on his face, and was thrilled to have this opportunity to draw him! I chose aqua, a tertiary color. The greener tone of the aqua seem to suggest mischief, while the darker blue tone sharpened his features.
