This little build grew out of the desire to try out SuperHardcoreDave's cool missile nose cone design.
It ended up being fairly realistic, which is unusual for me. It even has a NOTAR system and landing gear.

Mil Mi-24 Superhind Mk5 "Krokodil" Heavy Helicopter Gunship (Krokodil = Crocodile, Russian)
--------------------
An even more massive and destructive beast than the previous variant. A beast of a helicopter, it is equipped with engines twice as powerful as it's predecessor, enormous turboshaft engines used to turn the two contra-rotational rotors, and two more on the sides are used as backup, more power, and speed making this newer variant good even when fully loaded with people and munitions. Their exhaust is also used for the NOTAR system built into this huge bird.
It is equipped with new equipment ranging from imaging and sensors to radar and weapons. A new camera system is attached to the nose for more accurate gunning, along with eye tracking equipment so that the user can aim simply by pointing their eyes. The new, durable, gatling cannon is now equipped with more than four times the ammunition than it's predecessor.
It can still transport 10 people, not including the pilots, but it can do so at a speed more than two times faster than the previous variant due to it's new engines. It is now considered one of the fastest transport helicopters in the world, setting aside the fact that it can both transport and gunship at the same time.
It isn't that much of a stealthy helicopter, however, but it does feature a slightly reduced RCS. It features two wings with 4 pylons each, and 2 pylons on the bottom of the body. It's wings can give the helo around 15% of it's lift. The outermost pylons can only be equipped with air-to-air missiles, and it's underbody pylons only with either remote controlled autocannons or free-fall bombs. The 6 free pylons underneath the wings can be outfitted with rocket pods, guided missiles, autocannons, bombs, air-to-air missiles, sensor equipment, and more.
It is able to deliver long range missile strikes if a friendly unit in the area guides it (infantrymen can use their on-chest computers.)
As a latest addition, they are equipped with a powerful anti-missile laser equipped in the nose along with imaging suite and a detachable TLS built under the cockpit area aside from other weapon systems.

The MD Helicopters MD Explorer is a light twin-engined utility helicopter designed and initially produced by the American rotorcraft specialist McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems.
On 18 December 1992, the maiden flight was conducted, initial certification for the type followed roughly two years later. The initial model, the MD 900, was joined by an improved successor, the MD 902, during the late 1990s. The Explorer is currently produced by MD Helicopters.
The helicopter is noted for having no tail rotor, using the NOTAR technology instead giving its tail a unique appearance and quieter sound profile then a more traditional tail rotor.
The Belgian Federal Police (Dutch: Federale Politie; French: Police Fédérale; German: Föderale Polizei) is the national police force of the Kingdom of Belgium. It carries out specialized and supra-local administrative and judicial police operations, and supports local police services when needed. Additionally, the Federal Police is responsible for patrolling and ensuring the safety of the country's highways. The Federal Police has approximately 12,300 officers and civilian personnel.
The Federal Police is commanded by General Commissioner (CG) Marc De Mesmaeker, who holds the rank of chief commissioner. He is in charge of the General Commissioner's Office, which comprises three general directorates: the General directorate of the administrative police (DGA), the General directorate of the judicial police (DGJ) and the General directorate of resources and information (DGR). Each general directorate is led by a general director (DG), who also holds the rank of chief commissioner.
The FP was created through merging units of the Belgian Gendarmerie and Local/Municipal police forces on January 1, 2001.

Since Constru Rail began to operate the traffic of steel coils between Trasona and Paiz Vasco, there have been many attempts to go for it. In summer it becomes even easier because of the weather, since it leaves very early, after getting up early and taking several suburban trains, it was already in an attack position in Cecea, waiting for the long-awaited hoods, and when it arrived more or less Note a Caterpillar engine in the background, which announced the entry of the two 1600 with said train, with a very nice staff inside.
Kamov Ka-30 "Shark" Mk2 Medium Stealth Helo Gunship (Shark = Akula)
--------------------
Kamov's newest 6th generation helicopter design. A competitor to Mil Industries prototype 6th generation medium gunship.
Designed in 2025 and fielded in 2027, the Kamov Ka-30 is a medium stealth gunship employing a coaxial rotor system. It has a reduced RCS, invisibility illusion generators, infrared trace reducers, radar absorbent covering and stealthy engine exhaust ports.
It has a crew of two. It employs a single laser rotary autocannon and high energy TLS system under the nose controlled by the gunner. It also includes twin side mounted adjustable laser AP autocannons utilized by the pilots, and an internal slide out missiles bay loaded with unguided and guided missiles, and air-to-air missiles. It has a single hardpoint on each stub wing able to carry only a single devastating ShBM imported from the Turkish.
It is quite fast and is surprisingly maneuverable for a coaxial helicopter. It has a backup NOTAR system, which utilizes engine exhaust from the two side mounted TDDSAS-7 high powered stealth engines. It can fly near Mach 0.2 at full weapons load.
On it's sides are two missiles countermeasures suites, which fire a laser to destroy incoming hostile missiles. It is similar to the one used on UT tanks.
This helicopter now includes a new imaging and sensor system, making the gunner's and pilot's job much easier. The main rotary cannon, located under the nose, is pointed towards wherever the gunner is looking, greatly increasing this new series' efficiency.
It's new sensors and equipment allow it to mesh into the intel network, which is a system that creates a virtual map with feed from the frontlines, recon units, etc. It allows HUD-equipped units to view a minimap of the area with identified enemies on it. Each unit with a camera, including infantry equipped with the Enforcer suit, contributes to this intel network. This way, every unit in the military is essentially a recon unit. The helo is a powerful one, surveying a large area and identifying any visible enemies..
It is able to deliver long range missile strikes if a friendly unit in the area guides it (infantrymen can use their on-chest computers.)

To attend this plan does not require leaving the house. If you have looked up you will have noticed that the Moon is reaching full phase. April brings a celestial phenomenon that attracts the eyes of lunatics. This Tuesday the Earth's natural satellite will be seen larger and brighter than usual.
You don't need sophisticated instruments to see it either. Just go out the window to see that colossal rock hanging from the sky reflecting an intense shine. Using just the eye, it will be difficult to notice any size difference on the full moon of April 7-8, 2020. But it will look resplendent. Even the specialized portal Earth Sky ensures that Earth's oceans will feel an extra pull.
This phenomenon is called a pink moon in North America. Álvaro Cano, mathematician and popularizer of astronomy says that "the rose comes from the ancient Native Americans, who called it that because of spring in the United States, when the flox flowers, which have a characteristic pink color and bloom during this season."
In 2020, this April full moon also presents the satellite in its closest position to the planet this year (and therefore largest). According to Earth Sky, this full moon coincides more closely with the lunar perigee (the closest point of the moon to Earth in its monthly obituary) than any other full moon in 2020. Will you notice that the moon is larger than normal? Cano probably does not say: "We will not see it pink, nor larger since our eye is not able to discern this small increase"
The nocturnal frosts favor images like this when the sun heats up and melts the frost. The adjacent assemblage of mosses, lichens, and grasses showed this appearance by noticing the solar heat.
Thank you very much for your visits, awards, comments and faves.

Oukaimeden
Marrocos
We started our visit to Morocco in the Atlas Mountains. We arrived in Oukaimeden around 6 p.m. and were somewhat disappointed by the scarcity of birds. We only saw Rock Sparrows, and since there wasn't much else, we started photographing them. Gradually, other species (which also occur in Portugal) began to appear, and suddenly something different caught our eye. We tried to approach and began to notice the reddish patch on the wing. Wow! A African crimson-winged finch, which we didn't expect to find easily. We encountered many more that day, but the next day we saw far fewer, and those we did see were even more skittish.
--------------------------------

The Sala dei Notari is located on the north side of the building. Originally a hall for the popular assemblies of the free comune, it was also the seat of the court of the capitano del popolo. From 1582 it was the seat of the powerful guild of the Notari, from which it takes its name.
The vast room with vaults supported by eight arches is decorated with frescoes dating back to the last decade of the 13th century, attributed to the Maestro del Farneto [it] and to the Maestro Espressionista di Santa Chiara [it], both connected to the frescoes of the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. They represent Aesop's Fables, legends, biblical stories and maxims. In 1860 the frescoes were heavily restored by Perugian artist Matteo Tassi, who added neo-Gothic and eclectic decorations throughout, and repainted the emblems of successive podestà and capitani del popolo in the city's government. Two emblems of the magistrates in office between 1293 and 1297, frescoed on the counter-facade of the hall, confirm the date of the building's construction. Along the perimeter is a line of seats, reconstructed in the 19th century based on the original 16th-century models. At the top, on the right wall was a passage connecting to the residence of the capitano del popolo.

Leganga - Arusha
Tanzânia
We just returned from about two weeks spent in Tanzania, and I have to say it was by far our worst trip ever. The country, the people, the landscapes, and the birdlife and wildlife in general warrant a return visit — but the guide we somewhat naively chose was an absolute disaster.
A presumptuous, egocentric, narcissistic, arrogant, Trump-supporting, climate-change-denying, constantly self-flattering individual who fancies himself a great photographer (he describes his own photos as "fucking good").
His photos are mediocre, some even out of focus, but for a birder just looking to document sightings, that’s normal, and I accepted it. If only he’d had the humility to simply show us the birds and let us handle the photography. Instead, every time we had a chance to photograph a bird, he’d lecture us on how we should do it—even scolding us for checking our shots on the camera. He never did that himself, using his Nikon D850 (what a waste) almost in point-and-shoot mode (his own words).
He kept insisting he was a photographer and knew all about the importance of light, but every single day, we saw it was pure theory—he had zero practical skills. He’d constantly forget and sulk when we pointed it out. Basically, if the background was blue sky, the light was good; if it was cloudy, the light was bad. That was the extent of his knowledge of light and photography.
On the very first day, his first attempt was taking us to a lake hoping to find an African Black Duck. Well, as our friend A. Guerra would say, ironically, when things go bad, at least we didn’t see it—because the photos would have been a complete disaster. The access to the lake was directly facing the sun, with glare all over the water. It would have been a huge frustration.
At the middle of day, with terrible strong light, he decided show us a colony of Taveta Weavers — only for our disappointment to deepen as they were entirely backlit. When we mentioned the lighting issue, he simply ignored us (something he’d do systematically for as long as we endured him). I had to push through thick vegetation and small water ditches to find a better angle, while he seemed annoyed at how long we took to get a decent shot.
(Another thing that bothered him was us not knowing a species’ name or mispronouncing it.)
But that was just the first day. The following days were a series of unpleasant situations, multiple arguments — the last one shouting — until we gave up on his services (already paid for) and had to scramble for an alternative. I’ll talk about that in future posts.
I won’t name him here, but if you send me a private message, I’ll tell you who he is — so my friends don’t make the same mistake we did.
The only partially positive thing I can say is that, with the help of local guides, he did find the hardest-to-spot species—even if it meant risking our lives, subjecting us to two hours of being thrown around in the vehicle while completely lost off any passable trail (even for a 4x4). Not to mention his dangerously reckless driving on main roads.
----------------------------------

"To notice the beauty in things left behind, is to see the soul of the life it once lived." Heather Durren.
At the south of the remote Mani Peninsula, towards the southernmost part of the Peloponnese, lies the "ghost" village of Vathia. This Greek town was almost completely abandoned after World War II. Its characteristic tower-houses, built for defensive purposes during the 18th century to ward off invaders and rival clans, are a magnificent example of the traditional architecture of this part of Greece.
Since the 80s of the previous century, the Greek government began a recovery process in Vathia, and little by little some of its buildings have been converted into tourist accommodations. However, during our visit in March, we did not come across anyone. Although the restoration of some buildings was noticeable, others were still in a state of abandonment. However, Vathia's beauty has stood the test of time, and the soul of its past can still be admired in its remains.
Our YouTube Travel Video with Behind the Scenes of this picture:

As soon as the weeping mists settle in the Cinca Valley (and surroundings) in Huesca, coinciding with very low temperatures, the humidity becomes frosty, giving the landscape a polar appearance. Let's not say the environment that below 0º is noticeable in its coolness.
Of such frosts I keep memorable memories that with the sudden winter cold that afflicts a good part of the country these days, has moved me to recover some images taken in their day in the Monzón area and neighboring towns, attached to the vicinity of the Cinca Medio regions and part of the Somontano. In this case, the Monesma vineyards offered the appearance of the image. Very cold of course.

ZAZ - La Pluie (with lyrics)
Steam baths, soap bubbles...
Photography is my sorceress, the great conjurer. It contains that special fascination so heart, that allows to recreate and "debut in public", with a staging executed with care and worked to convey impressions, and reach deep inside.
Establishing that union between a frozen shot and stimulate those sensations that allow to notice the difference between "aroma and flavor", I get a tremendous reward.
Imagine, is it a hamman, a steam bath, a fog bank, or is it smoke?

Dusky heath.
As with most butterflies, their restlessness and mistrust are evident in broad daylight. The little “dorus” was no exception and the “dances” had to be followed without rest until the improvised refuge among the thick vegetation.
Once this shrub (cavendishia pubescens) blossom occurs, it is impossible that this small White-bellied Woodstar refuses to visit them, unfortunately it only occurs once a year and for a few weeks.

===================================================
The gorgeous HMS Victory, the ship of Nelson in the battle of Trafalgar, currently preserved in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
But 250 years are quite a lot for a wooden ship (that was built with an expected life of about 70 years at sea). It's slowly sinking on its own weight, so they are restoring it slowly. For example, all the guns (at 2 tn each) have been changed for plastic replicas. Also the paint is now much more realistic of early XIX Century.
First of all, I must be honest and clarify that this is a tricky photo, very tricky, because before uploading it I have dedicated myself to erasing all the cables that stood between the camera and the train. Well, more than honesty, it is an exercise in realism because I am sure you were going to notice the manipulation since it is very evident. I had known this point for many years (and I have it one step from my house) but I had always despised it for its inevitable maremagnum of cables, capable of stressing the most phlegmatic of photographers. But the (truly exceptional) circulation of the PTG train in charge of the glittering ALCO 1603, it was clear that it was the perfect occasion to highlight a point from which also can be seen the one that for a long time (until the inauguration of the Guggenheim Museum ) was the symbol of Vizcaya: the Hanging Bridge of Portugalete. By the way, in order for this emblematic construction to look as it deserves, I have come to consider the elimination of the Industry museum building , but finally I have discarded it because it would already be bordering the territory of delirium.
Ever since I built this helicopter, I've wanted to build another meshed-rotor helicopter. I also wanted to combine the two windscreen pieces I used, before someone else beat me to the punch.
I built this to accompany the Iron Mountain Legion Tank, that I posted recently. Like the tank, this is destined for a diorama I'm working on with a friend, for BrickFair. Unlike the tank, this is motorized. In fact, I ran the motor for most of these photos, to try for a bit of motion blur.

SN/NC: Hemerocallis Fulva, Asphodelaceae Family
The Tawny Daylily (Hemerocallis fulva) is a vigorous and recognizable perennial. Despite its common name, it is not a true lily and belongs to the Asphodelaceae family. Each striking, orange trumpet-shaped flower lasts for just a single day, but numerous buds provide a long-lasting summer display. This adaptable plant thrives in a variety of conditions and has naturalized widely. While its tubers and buds are edible, it is important to note that the plant is highly toxic to cats.

si pasa mi enemigo cerca de mi rosal, se llevará las rosas de más sutil esencia;
(Amado Nervo)
This collage gathers the next pictures on this set. Please note a couple of things before making any judgement. First, the picture of the doves was shoot about 20 minutes earlier than the second picture. Second, take in count that the airplanes were moving, so what I did during the sequence was shoot one after another during one minute (aprox. the time they took to pass from west to east and head north). Please also note that one of the objects seems to be far away and in the forth shoot it looks very close compared with the second picture. Finally, and most important, I didn´t get to notice this objects until I was reviewing my pictures, deciding which ones to upload. Scary uh? Look at the original size and comment please.

Wikipedia.
Everything in Calatañazor has a traditional flavor of remote centuries and testifies to the passing of the centuries as if they had made it dizzy and glancing, not wanting to be noticed: streets cobbled with boulder, houses with collapsed mud walls and straw or coarse walls stone masonry, structure and interlocking entrusted to irregular juniper logs, doors protected by half-height shutters, covered with tiles on which stand the genuine conical chimneys pinariegas.
sea real o sea imaginado.
Each trip means fulfilling a dream. In each of them you can notice the loneliness, the greatness of being alive and feel everything that you observe, breathe and touch, as well as experience sensations of danger, adventure and meet wonderful people and cultures that will generate interesting changes within you. During my travels, I experience all these sensations that I could not even imagine otherwise.

The calm after the storm.
Girona has the worst time in a month of December of the last 46 years.
The counties of Girona have been the area of Catalonia where the effects of the weather have been most noticeable.
The flooding has led to the disappearance of beaches, such as the one in front of Hostal Empúries, L'Escala, or the Nova de Roses beach, which was already punished by the last weather.

The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance
The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance is a dedicated medical air service which first began operations in Lincolnshire inApril 1994.
Based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, and unaffected by road congestion, country roads, heavy vehicles or road works the Helicopter can reach any destination in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in 19 minutes.
The Air Ambulance, first began operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994. The area of operation was extended to include Nottinghamshire in 1997.
The idea for an Air Ambulance was first suggested by a group of consultants at the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston in the late 1980's, to be used predominantly for the transfer of seriously ill and injured patients from Lincolnshire hospitals to regional specialist centres, reducing journey times and providing a far smoother form of transportation.
The Chief Executive of the Lincolnshire Ambulance and Health Transport Service NHS Trust recognised the benefits that an air ambulance could bring, not only for inter-hospital transfers, but also in providing a rapid response to accident victims in one of the largest rural counties in England. This rapid response, combined with swift and smooth transportation of casualties to appropriate treatment centres, could add extra value to the quality of care already delivered by ground resources.
The Ambulance Service drove the project forward in the early 1990's, with the support of local consultants, gradually turning the original concept into a working reality.
Prior to the launch of the aircraft, and spread over a period of two years, a number of important issues had to be addressed. A project team was first established, and this team then co-ordinated all further development, which included setting up a Charity, selecting an operating company, developing appropriate usage criteria, negotiating hospital landing sites, providing essential medical equipment and selecting and training a number of medical aircrew.
In England and Wales there are sixteen dedicated Air Ambulance operations flying a total of 22 helicopters and all are reliant upon charitable support. An Air Ambulance provides an important and sometimes vital additional patient care service for our most critically ill and injured patients.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The new MD 902 Explorer is a “ new generation” twin engined helicopter ideally suited to the Air Ambulance role.
MD Explorers are already flying with a number of Police Services throughout the UK, including joint Police and Ambulance operations in Wiltshire and Sussex.
The first Explorer in a dedicated medical role was launched in Kent early in 2000, with London HEMS opting for the same aircraft a few months later.
Late November 2000, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and bordering areas saw the introduction of a MD 902 Explorer to replace the older Bolkow, which had been in operation since 1994.
The new aircraft will continue to be funded by the community through the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Trust. The respective Ambulance Services in Lincolnshire and the East Midlands will still exercise operational management, including tasking.
The MD Explorer has many advantages over other helicopters in terms of patient care. With a maximum speed of 154mph, a maximum range of 296 miles and endurance of nearly three hours, the aircraft will be able to operate much more effectively across the two counties.
A much bigger payload means that more weight can be carried without adversely affecting performance. This could include increased patient weight, extra medical equipment or additional personnel.
Whilst the powerful twin engines make for better performance, noise levels are lower than the Bolkow and the MD Explorer is regarded as the quietest twin-engined helicopter currently operating.
The cabin space in the aircraft is completely separate from the cockpit and is the largest in its class, providing better access to the patient in flight and more space for essential medical equipment. The large cabin area allows extra aircrew to be carried when required and two extra seats are available for medical staff or relatives.
The aircraft has a special tilt/slide stretcher and large sliding doors on each side thus enabling the aircrew to load and unload the patient more easily.
The Explorer has many important safety features including enhanced visibility, high set engines which greatly reduce any danger from exhaust and a main rotor that is set 9ft above the ground, well above head height.
Of special note is the unique NOTAR Anti-Torque system. There is no conventional tail rotor but air is blown through a long slot along the tail boom to stabilise the aircraft. With the NOTAR system a sliding circular cover near the end of the tail boom is opened and closed to adjust thrust.
A reminder, don't forget to come check us out at BrickFair! We should have some awesome displays!
