The first of the new batch of 1963 Leyland Atlanteans in the Bolton fleet was 185 UWH185 a PDR1/1 model with East Lancashire H45/33F body. It is seen here en-route to Bury on service 52 some time in the 1960's. 185 is I am pleased to say in preservation.
When our Poundland stores get in newer batches of unsold U.S. sourced Matchbox they usually buy them in such quantities that they are available on their pegs for many many months sometimes extending to over a year. With this in mind it was a bit strange that the batch containing this 2016 recolour of the 1993 Ford Mustang LX SSP which also incidentally contained the orange Evoque only appeared VERY briefly in only a small amount of my nearest stores. I managed to grab this solitary example as the pegs were already almost empty and just like the original recolour it delighted collectors with its basic unpretentious shape and realistic looking State Police livery. Bought back in November 2016. Mint and boxed.
Strip away those really OTT styling add ons and there is a cute Japanese style Taxi underneath which is almost certainly based on the overly boxy Toyota Crown comfort. I believe its some kind of play on words of Time Attack, whatever its inspiration its a strangely likeable model even with its odd part opening plastic side door which is actually moulded into the interior! This is its debut colour and was bought from ASDA back in June 2016 when a new batch hit the U.K.

Preparing to depart with the 2C27 to Coventry is London Midland Class 350, 350267.
Built by Siemens of Germany, the Desiro units have become one of several standardized units to operate across the length and breadth of the UK railway network, replacing many of the older designs of which some dated back to the 1950's!
In the early 2000's, it was apparent that many of the newly privatised operators were suffering from the fact that a majority of the stock inherited from British Rail was long past its bloom of youth and in desperate need of replacement. The main operators to suffer from this affliction were Southwest Trains, who's fleet upon privatisation in 1996 comprised mostly of 1950's design 4-CIG and 4-VEP slam-door units that had been built to replace the steam trains, as well as a few more modern designs from the 1990's such as the 5-WES Class 442 and the Class 159's, as well as the Great Eastern commuter operator First Great Eastern, which had a fleet comprised of the ageing Class 312's of the 1960's.
Southwest Trains was the first to order these units, with the first deliveries of the new Class 450's being made in 2003, followed in 2004 by an express variant known as the Class 444. 127 Class 450's and 45 Class 444's were ordered by the company, and immediately made inroads into the ageing slam-door fleet, the last of which bowed out of SWT mainline service in 2005, although two heritage units were retained for service on the Lymington Branch until 2010.
Next to be ordered were 25kV AC units by First Great Eastern, who saw the success of the class as an ideal way of replacing the ageing slam-door units on their commuter services. The first of the new Class 360's were delivered in 2003, distinguishable from other Desiro types by their lack of corridor-gangways mounted on the front. 21 of these units were ordered, and by 2004 had killed off the last of the 1960's Class 312's on the east of London commuter network.
With the success and reliability of these units being proven by SWT and First Great Eastern, many other operators pounced on the opportunity to replace their ageing British Rail stock with a new, more standard fleet of EMU's and DMU's.
The next to take orders was Silverlink in 2004, which ordered an initial fleet of 30 Class 350 units to at first supplement their existing fleet of Class 321's on InterCity services between London Euston and the Midlands, but later replaced these units, the 321's being either transferred to other operators or demoted to commuter trains in London.
The next was a diesel variant known as the Class 185, built for the newly founded First Trans-Pennine Express to provide the company with a standard fleet of DMU to operate on their extensive network from Manchester and Liverpool to York, Leeds, Hull, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Glasgow over the Pennines. These units primarily replaced BR's Class 158's, and provided new and highly innovative design features such as eco-mode engines, where for higher fuel efficiency on flat or non-challenging sections of track, some of the engines can be put onto a standby mode to reduce fuel consumption.
Since then the latest designs for Desiro's have consisted of largely the same units being redelivered to different companies. A newly formed commuter variant of Heathrow Express, Heathrow Connect, took delivery of a fleet of 5 Class 360's in 2005 to work trains out of London Paddington, whilst 2013 saw First Trans-Pennine Express take delivery of its first electric units, a derivative of the Class 350, whilst other Class 350 sub-classes have been delivered to London Midland in 2008 and 2014.
2010 saw the introduction of the Class 380 Desiro units for First Scotrail, being used on the various commuter networks in and around the country's two main cities Edinburgh and Glasgow. These units are essentially the same, though differ in that they have been given a more streamlined styling.
Today though, Desiro's continue to be build for the UK, and the next new batch, the Class 700 and 701's, will soon become the prime mover of the Thameslink network in London, showing that interest in Siemens' Desiro has yet to let up.
Recorded for posterity! I've just performed the latest chilli pepper harvest, and disposed of my plants! I'll start a new batch in the next few weeks...

The previous new batch of trams to enter service in Sofia were these more traditional, if somewhat square’ish types. 807 pictured here was new in 2012 and similar vehicles were entering service into 2013 although I think these are refurbished and rebuilt from Sofia trams from a much earlier vintage possibly as far back as 1966.
The area rabbits felt much the way we did about the Mountain House Adventure Foods, and as soon as we started cooking, a bunch of them started running around the camp site. There were a ton of bunnies around Three Mile, and they didn't seem at all afraid of humans. I suspect the bunnies around Three Mile eat very well.
This brings to mind an ongoing saga I've been reading about Isle Royale for several years now. (I commented about this about five years ago in three posts starting here.) For about a half-century, Isle Royale was the subject of a moderately famous, long-term study examining the predator-prey relationship between the island's populations of moose and wolves. Isle Royale was a particularly good place to maintain that sort of study, because it's an island, where everything is contained within a 206-square-mile bottle. But the bottle proved too small (and too exposed to outside influences) for the predators to survive an introduced disease and its long-term consequences, and by 2016 or so, the population of Isle Royale wolves had fallen to two old and sickly animals. Those two wolves have since died.
This left Isle Royale without any predators, and you know what that means. They population of prey animals has exploded. The Isle Royale moose population -- which during the mid-1990s was down around 500 -- is close to 2,000 now, and that's too many moose for an island this size. And the moose aren't the only prey around. Nobody that I can see is tracking the island's rabbit population, but we had at least five rabbits stalking our one little campsite. There are a lot of rabbits on Isle Royale.
I should note, though, that the National Park Service introduced a new batch of wolves to Isle Royale a couple of years ago. The scientists weren't able to continue their annual winter study of the wolves in 2020 thanks to the Plague, but they estimate that there are about 14 wolves on the island right now. These wolves are likely eating very well.
The first in my new batch of beads for autumn/winter 2011.
These are hand-formed polymer clay beads which are dyed using a bunch of different inks, watercolor paints, and mediums, and then sealed for complete fade/smudge/wear resistance.

Thanks for looking! :)
Very smart and rather sober recolour of the beautifully crafted Bentley Continental Supersports by Welly. I'm assuming its a new colour as its one i've never seen before until finding this in a French Carrefour Market recently where their toy aisle was brimming with new batches of Welly. Far more stock looking than the tackily decorated Hot Wheels equivalent and one which is very nicely detailed and glossily finished.

It has been over a decade of change for Lufthansa Group's low-cost carrier; Eurowings, once a subsidiary for Lufthansa Regional becoming a low-cost carrier having taken-over from Germanwings. The Eurowings brand has gone through many iterations over the years since 2014, now simply back to operating as a short-haul low-cost carrier.
Since transitioning to a low-cost carrier, Eurowings operates an all-Airbus A320 family fleet which is somewhat varied; the Airbus A319s inherited from the demise of Air Berlin and Germanwings, somewhat likewise to the Airbus A320s which a select number were also inherited from Air Berlin alongside a new batch of aircraft, whilst the Airbus A321s transferred from Lufthansa. The small motley fleet of Airbus A320neos and Airbus A321neos were all delivered directly to Eurowings.
In early-2024, Lufthansa Group placed new orders for new narrow-body aircraft; these included 40 Airbus A220-300s and 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. Whilst Lufthansa Group were quick to announce the 40 Airbus A220-300s would be going to their newly-founded regional carrier, Lufthansa City, the Boeing 737 MAX 8s were not revealed straight away with speculation on where they will be distributed.
Recently, Lufthansa Group announced on 20th January 2025 where those Boeing 737 MAX 8s would be allocated; Eurowings will receive the 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8s which will enable the carrier to retire the eldest Airbus A319/A320s. Deliveries are expected to commence from 2027.
Currently, Eurowings operates 79 Airbus A320 family aircraft, which includes 27 Airbus A319s, 34 Airbus A320s, 7 Airbus A320neos, 6 Airbus A321s and 5 Airbus A321neos.
Alpha Golf Whiskey Mike is one of 27 Airbus A319s operated by Eurowings, delivered new to Germanwings on 17th March 2009 before later being incorporated into Eurowings on 27th October 2017 and she is powered by 2 International Aero Engines V2524-A5 engines.

The exclusive distribution of new Matchbox models here in the U.K. seems to be on the shoulders of ASDA which on the plus side means easy accessibility but slow on the introduction of new batches. So much so that I have started to order whole batches directly from the U.S. I have to eat my words a little as I wasn't expecting this batch to ever come here such was the delay but in the last few days they have finally started to trickle into some stores. Sadly not the M batch with the holly grail Volvo but it does contain some real little licensed gems such as this new recolour for the Lamborghini LM002. The initial yellow colour was a particular favourite of mine and this continues the theme with its slightly unusual matte red finish which thankfully doesn't lessen the impact of this mighty but largely forgotten high performance SUV from the 1980's. Its a wonderfully crisp casting with some very neat little bits of detailing especially to the front end. Mint and boxed.
It didn't take long for the new batch of Majorette models which finally hit Morrisons last year to become a regular purchase even if the choice wasn't quite as spectacular as it could of been. One big draw was of course its one Pound price point which put it in competition with old batches of HW and MBX from our Pound shops and generic HTI crap everywhere else, in both instances the Majorette stuff virtually wiped the floor with the competition and looking at this gorgeous Lamborghini Gallardo its not hard to see why! A mesmerising blend of pin point accuracy and realism with a smattering of good old fashioned detailing and a highly metallic yellow paint colour. Bought back in September 2016. Mint and boxed.
On October 1th, a brand new batch of episodes began airing. In this series, the band is on their "World Tour" and each episode finds them in a different country learning about their landmarks and customs. The website has clips and some downloadable graphics.
Near journey's end is Metrobus SE266. This midi E20D has worked in on the 352 from Lower Sydenham. The 352 got a new batch of buses when the contract was renewed a few months ago. These buses have the "kangaroo" electronic manual gearboxes which create a rather jumpy ride quality.
Back in March 2016 Tesco delighted U.K. diecast collectors by reintroducing back to this country new batch post 2013 models in an exciting array of multi-packs, bus and truck singles and Premium singles. Since then it seems to have gone a bit awry with nothing new since then and quite a lot of stores either not restocking them or poorly restocking them! Things are going to get even worse for them as many of the castings found in their Premium singles which cost two pounds each can now be found in Morrisons for literally half the price. No you don't get the fancy packaging but you get the IDENTICAL model with exactly the same Premium features such a this Mercedes-Benz A-Class which even though retails for just a quid retains its opening rear hatch and glossy metallic finish. If Morrisons can update this new Majorette range at fairly frequent intervals instead of the previous THREE YEARS then they will have a hit on their hands! Mint and boxed.

Thank you Haru Casting for all the beautiful colors!! They look spectacular! :)
My usual European supplier of Matchbox Moving Parts are so far behind getting in new batches that even UK The Entertainer stores have been getting newer cases in. As ever none in my nearest two branches, so when I saw a handful in Japan I eagerly swooped in!
Their classic 1965 VW Type 3 Fastback, or 1600 TL Fastback as Matchbox now call it on the packaging, was one of the very first castings used in the fledgling Moving Parts. A deliberate throwback to their original Lesney era casting and in all fairness they did a good job considering the usual Mattel cost constraints.
It returns in this sober but well chosen flat dark green colour with chrome disc wheels and front and rear tampo detailing. No chrome unfortunately but these are priced very low in certain markets so that can be forgiven.

Latest recolour of the Hot Wheels 1970 Toyota Celica, one of precious few new batches spotted in France. Found recently in an E.Leclerc Jouet. Mint and boxed.
These later black Castrol liveried 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL Race Car models with lace effect wheels can now be found in large quantities in our Poundland stores so I no longer feel the need to buy anymore but a few months prior to this I couldn't help snapping up plenty of them as at the time it was probably my favourite new batch Hot Wheels. Proving just how extensive and diverse the modern HW line up has become modelling this classic Bavarian racing car was both inspired and very welcome and executed in a manner not always expected for a Mainline product. Expertly cast with clear plastic lights front and rear this is one very sharp looking little BMW which no doubt will be sen in even more exciting recolours in the near future with this being its third in quick succession. One of many bought from ASDA back in January 2017. Mint and boxed.
Trust Welly to produce probably the best 1/64 model of the first generation Land-Rover Freelander, certainly at this price point. The real vehicle was launched back in 1997 and the Welly version not long after but as they have a habit of never discontinuing any of their castings this one dates from 2015. Its a clean crisp looking model with some great detailing to both interior and exterior with a flawless realistic plain colour scheme and smart looking wheels. This one came from my favourite Bulgarian Ebayer who even now still has huge stocks of new batch Welly models. Mint and boxed.
Its always a great and almost smug feeling finding new batches of Hot Wheels but equally frustrating when only in a piecemeal fashion. Technically 2020 Case D has finally arrived in the UK but so far only at ASDA and only a small handful at a time on their clipstrips!
I was lucky enough to find two of these latest Cup editions of the Alpine A110 which i'm sure are going to be popular with collectors here in Europe. I'm very happy to see that HW have replicated this new French sports coupe the best way they could for a Mainline and at least keeping front detailing when given side decal treatment. Mint and boxed.
