I meant to have my granddaughter pose with her trumpet while we were in Phoenix. I remembered that when we were several hundred miles down the road. So instead I went to our neighborhood clubhouse for the piano as soon as we reached home. Considered trying my friend who has an accordion but after a 1,200 mile road trip, I conceded!

"A music box is an automatic musical instrument that produces sounds by the use of a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder that is driven by a clockwork mechanism so as to pluck the tuned teeth of a steel comb.
Cylinder music boxes have been around for a long time. They were first invented in the late 18th century by Swiss watchmakers who made them as parts of watches and clocks."

For Macro Monday's Musical Instruments theme.
This is a simple Ocarina which I made out of pottery ages ago.
This one is really more a whistle than a flute as it doesn't have any finger holes.
The elegant Martyrs Basilica is situated in the famous Garrett street, in the exquisite quarter of Chiado, in the heart of the cosmopolitan Lisboa city.
Inside is a marble altar and a beautifully-painted ceiling, as well as an organ that's considered one of the best in the country.
This saxophone was gifted to me a few months ago. It needs some repair to get it to 100% playing condition. When those repairs are done this is gonna be an amazing instrument! ❤️
Shot for Week 9 of my "52 Weeks of 2022" flickr group project given the theme "Musical Instrument".
This was a tough one for me. I don't have any musical instruments at my house. Luckily my neighbor came to the rescue and loaned me his guitar. My original concept was to shoot the neck of the guitar getting the strings wrapped around the first post in sharp focus, and let the rest go soft from the shallow DOF. I got some good shots for the concept (I posted them as "Runner Ups" in my photostream), but the red of this guitar was calling out to me. So I setup a shot from the base, the color really popped, and I was hooked.

❓Walking through the streets of the city or visiting our friends, we could notice that many are already actively equipping their homes🏡 and territories for the upcoming holiday. But what is it really?
⠀
❓A commercial move? On the one hand, it is quite possible, because we associate all decorations and advertisements directly with the holiday, which makes us rather buy and start preparing for it.But is it possible to say that this is exactly the case? 🤔
⠀
❓I think not. Most likely, during the whole year of endless running, many people are already tired, and the New Year is an occasion to relax, relax and have a great weekend. Most likely people just want a holiday! :)
⠀
❓And how do you feel about the New Year?☃️ Are you starting to prepare for it or are you deciding to delay the pleasure right before the holiday?
⠀
🎁 Share your opinion in the comments and tell us about your usual preparation for the holidays!😉 I will read all the entries with great interest, and maybe even take something for a note ;)

The Kabuli Rubab (or Rabab) is found in Kashmir as well as Afghanistan. It is a different instrument from the Seni or Dhrupadi Rubab, popular in North India during the Mughal period, but now less common.
Rubabs are assigned the number 321.321-6 in the Hornbostel-Sachs classification of musical instruments ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornbostel-Sachs ), indicating:
3 = Chordophone. Instruments where the sound is primarily produced by the vibration of a string or strings that are stretched between fixed points.
32 = Composite Chordophone. Acoustic and electro-acoustic instruments which have a resonator as an integral part of the instrument, and solid-body electric chordophones.
321 = Lutes. Instruments where the plane of the strings runs parallel with the resonator’s surface.
321.3 = Handle Lutes. Instruments in which the string bearer is a plain handle.
321.32 = Necked Lutes. Instrument in which the handle is attached to, or carved from, the resonator, like a neck
321.321 = Necked Bowl Lutes. Instrument with a resonator made from a bowl, either natural or carved.
321.321-6 = Strings vibrated by a plectrum.

Revisited an old friend (circa 1864) after over 20 years of neglect, to help and play with my kid who just started learning. Had to change the stings and the tail piece that were broken but the old fiddle still sounds amazing. Nikon 50mm at 1.2 aperture.
I'm really excited to shift from my nature theme to my music theme! Music has been a huge part of my life, and I would like to start things simple with a musical instrument that everyone knows, the piano. I personally don't play piano, although I started lessons at one point but had to quit soon after. I currently only play clarinet and oboe (although not for long).
This upcoming project was inspired by something I had to do for my portfolio.
In any case, enjoy the symphony of photos that is to come.
