Macro Mondays: Musical Instrument

Close up of the cymbals on a tambourine.

For “musical instrument” challenge in Macro Monday.

Showing are some of the blow holes of a cool old harmonica that we inherited from my father in law. He loved playing it and we loved hearing it. Pic is about 2 inches wide. HMM!

The conga, also known as tumbadora, is a tall, narrow, single-headed drum from Cuba. Congas are staved like barrels and classified into three types: quinto (lead drum, highest), tres dos or tres golpes (middle), and tumba or salidor (lowest). Congas were originally used in Afro-Cuban music genres such as conga (hence their name) and rumba, in which each drummer would play a single drum. Following numerous innovations in conga drumming and construction during the mid-20th century, as well as its internationalization, it became increasingly common for drummers to play two or three drums.

No academic education required... probably an early prototype of self-performing pianos? a music box it is :-)

Sorry Caren, I don't have any musical instruments, I hope this is okay for Crazy Tuesday. If not, I understand.

Whole Lotta Love -+- King Curtis and the Kingpins

Stylized trumpet on the Atco Records 45-rpm single label design. Even though the trumpet on singles (both 45- and 78-rpm) dates back to the 1955 founding of the label, this basic yellow-and-white 45 label design was used from 1957 to 1979; variants of the design for promotional and disc jockey copies were used until 1984.

With pop and, later, rock acts comprising the bulk of Atco's roster during the trumpet label's era, not all releases employed the instrument in either feature or backing duty. The instrument appears in this particular single, a rousing instrumental Led Zeppelin cover identified in the photo only by its A-side matrix (or master) number, when the backing orchestra shifts into high gear.

For this week's Macro Mondays #redux2022, covering the themes "Music", "Spiral" (the string), and "Reflection". Focus stacked 9 images.

Summer 2019 in Berlin. We had visited the memorial to the Sinti and Roma Victims of National Socialism. Deeply impressed by the stories we had read there, we walked back into the park. I heard music, very quiet, very beautiful. An ode to those who have been terribly persecuted and killed.

There will be a musical intermission from the covid lockdown.

There are worse thing to do on a very wet day.

Thanks for looking.

Harmonica

Who hasn't played with one of these and made it go boing boing boing. OK, maybe you last did that as a child, but it was there, it was fun, and it drove the parents nuts.

All i have musical is a tiny bell

electric blue

It was going to be a shot of my ol favourite ukulele but then a blue electric guitar descended from the heavens like something out of spinal tap calling “take me, take me”. How could I resist.

One of my attempts at the "Crazy Tuesday“ theme "MUSICAL INSTRUMENT(s)".
