A kalimba, or thumb piano, is originally an African instrument that first appeared in the 1950s. The instrument belongs to the lamellophone family. You play the instrument by moving (plucking) metal plates with your thumbs. You can tune the kalimba with a tuning hammer.

Music boxes have always been a fascination for me. The angelic sound they make, that reminds us of when we are small , listening to that repetitive sleepy sound. Still cannot resist it....

To me, the curl of this contra bass is a work of art in several ways. The instrument was made by a craftsman (or woman), it is so beautifully designed and made, that alone is art to me. When played by a musician a new musical work of art is born.
I don't play an instrument myself, but I can't live without music. Can you?
