Designed by French industrial designer Paul Arzens and built between 1971 and 1978 these BB 15000 class AC electric locomotives are nicknamed 'Nez Cassé' (broken nose) and are the most common type of AC electric locomotives on the SNCF network, with this example (15037) being painted in SNCF's two-tone grey & red 'Multiservices' livery seen resting by the buffer stops at Paris Gare du Nord station in May 2002. The digit '1' placed before the locomotive's running number indicates that it is a main line/express locomotive. The distinctive 1970s front end styling of these SNCF BB 15000 class locomotives always gave these locomotives a somewhat 'fierce' and 'aggressive' look to them.
