An Eagle Court of Honor was held at the Villaggio Multipurpose Room Oct. 29 to recognize Anuk Dayaprema’s achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
As a member of the Vicenza Boy Scout Troop 295, and while still an eighth-grader Dayaprema worked on a unique Eagle Scout project focused on collecting and distributing an assortment of school and college textbooks to benefit a specific district in Sri Lanka.

The new, multiple-use Skills Development Center here was opened to the public following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Sept. 7, 2012 in front of the facility. The multipurpose facility includes an Auto Skills Center, Arts and Crafts Center, Military Clothing Sales and Army Supply Center in one complex.

A great deal has been done here in the diocese of Miao by the Church, especially by the Fathers of the Vincentian Congregation that was founded in 1904 in Kerala in southern India. There are retreat days, evangelization programs, popular missions, training programs for catechists, a fruitful apostolate and a pastoral outreach that is welcomed far and wide. Even many non-Christians ask the Fathers to pray for their needs. Their vocation also includes the care of the poorest of the poor, for street children, orphans, the homeless, prisoners and the elderly.
Now the Vincentian Fathers want to build a multipurpose hall in the Parish of Tissa which includes nine Catholic villages and a number of non-Christian villages so that they can better support the local population both spiritually and physically. Without a place where people can come together, it is much harder to offer a full range of possible activities.

A multipurpose public building in Helper, Utah holds, among other things, a public library. I found the architectural style interesting, particularly the rounded corners and upward swirl of the windows found there, probably following a turned interior staircase. The glossy black statue on the far left is a tribute to the area's mining heritage.
Helper is named for the railroad engines which assisted or "helped" push trains loaded down with coal up the steep slopes to the north and on toward places like Salt Lake City. Helper has always been a gritty working town, although less so these days. Anything apparently went on here during the heydays of mining with a number of local hotels and clubs sporting brothels, the last only closing their doors in the 1970s.
