Mud Crab inhabit tropical to warm temperate waters from Exmouth in Western Australia up and along the coastline of the Northern Territory and Queensland.

They favour soft muddy bottoms below the low tide level and generally live in sheltered estuaries, mud flats, mangrove forests and the tidal reaches of some rivers.

Mud Crab can reach a maximum size of approximately 24 centimetres carapace width and 3.5 kilograms in weight.

Female mud crabs and blue swimmer crabs, and egg- bearing spanner crabs and three-spotted crabs, are protected throughout Queensland.

Females are often called 'jennies' and males, 'bucks'. The mud crab can grow up to 300 millimetres in shell width and 2.5 kilograms. Known for their big claws, mud crabs belong to a group of crabs that have the last pair of legs flattened for swimming.

Mud crabs or Scylla serrata are a species of crab commonly found in the estuaries, creeks and mangroves of Australia, Africa and Asia. The mud crabs shell colour varies from a deep, mottled green to very dark brown.

Mud crabs are prized by recreational fishers for their impressive size and delicious taste. Their powerful claws can be dangerous and mud crabs need to be handled with care

Mud crabs use their claws to defend themselves and will even shed a claw to escape. In many cases, a new, fully functional claw will grow back.

A couple of days spent in setting up a new computer and external drive from the convoluted tangle of its predecessor has reintroduced me to thousands of images, long forgotten. I've posted a couple of these, not because they are technically or artistically significant, just that they have memories of what seems to be an age ago.

Further to my story about North Queensland crabbing, this is the object of the hunt. Perched on a weathered driftwood log, on the same beach as the semi-submerged safety pot, was the empty carapace of a cooked mud-crab.

Scylla serrata is know as "Black crab" in Thailand and can be found all over the country in abundance. It is a core ingredient in traditional som-tam salad (green papaya salad).

[...]. The first word, Scylla, was a sea monster in Greek mythology that lived on one side of a channel, and if you sailed too close, the six heads would eat the crew. In reality, Scylla is associated with sharp, shallow rocks in a passage between Italy and Sicily.

The species name seratta means a saw-toothed edge, referring to the crab’s prominent spines, four between the eyes and nine on each side, that run along the front of the upper shell. Mature males grow to a shell width of 9 inches, weigh up to 5 pounds and have front claws that put sea monsters to shame.

Only in Hawaii is this crab known as a Samoan crab [...]. Between 1926 and 1935 people [...] in Hawaii brought 98 individuals from Samoa to Oahu and Molokai [...] and are now found on all the main islands.

[...]. Because the species prefers sheltered estuaries with muddy bottoms, people in other parts of the world call the creatures mud crabs or mangrove crabs.

Samoan crabs are so popular here [in Hawaii] that the state protects the population by law. All females of all sizes must be released if caught. The minimum shell width for males is 6 inches.

Samoan crabs reproduce during the warmer months. When a female is close to molting, she sends out a chemical attractant. The male climbs on top of the female, holds her with his hind legs and carries her around until she molts, up to four days. The male then turns her over and deposits his sperm capsule.

The female stores this little gift. When her eggs are ready, the mother-to-be migrates offshore, puts her warehoused sperm to good use and releases 2 million to 5 million fertile eggs. It’s up to the larvae to find their way back to shore."

Here are some shots of Samia taken as she wandered the edges of the great marsh stretching in all directions around Morthal, glimpses of her surveying the marshy ground from the crest of a hill as early rays of sunlight danced among the mist. Of her outrunning a swift fox which glanced at her with curious eyes, of her using the healing skills she was taught after a short skirmish with some mudcrabs, one of the rare creatures of the wilds she dislikes. Of her facing a skeletal puppet and sending its bones clattering into the ruins it had emerged from. Of her taking shelter from the rain among the glow of dawn, remembering the times she spent hiding under pines with her parents while they taught her the ways of a warden of the wilds and of her taking careful steps across a shimmer of ice as a playful wind sent waves through the mists.

I have finished taking the shots for the next chapter of Edrelle's tale and will start writing tomorrow, the chapters are taking a little more time lately as I am focusing on finding a job in the design field which is keeping me busy.

Pros: This vehicle was invented by the extraordinary genius Professor Marc Rab and it's equipped with mechanical pincers which will engage in all sorts of tomfoolery during the race

Cons: Professor Marc Rab is not a real professor, his real name is Cletus Crabs and he doesn't even have a driving licence

So ya, I took the advice from the last one, and remade it (window closed D:)

But I still have this one open if there is anything that needs a MAJOR change.

Initially the mod was going to start with the player meeting Leilani and Mele as children, then as the story progressed, the player would meet them again as adults. However, I have put that portion on hold and may release it as a quest update later since I have cut some things out because the mod has to be optimized for SSE and Xbox. The skyrim LE version will have more content since SKSE will be used for many things. This picture was from a small webcomic I am going to release with the mod

This lumbering beast is a part of a mobile quick deployment anti-aerospace defense complex developed by Neolith corporation. Although walking chassis is not the best choice in terms of speed, its ability to traverse on a rough terrain gives Jakapil-s a big advantage - it can monitor the sky and strike its targets even being in most unusual positions.

Speaking of striking targets: its main weapon - heavy railgun with propelled munition - can shoot down spaceships up to 100m in size from atmosphere and low orbit and even damage small capital ships. Jakapil also have in its arsenal 4 missiles to deal with various vehicles in short range, in case when its support group are failing to protect it.

Originally I built this thing in pair with Mudcrab , but I wanted to post it as a part of a complex, which well.... I still failed to fully develop, but hey, I made the command truck!

Svelk Vorpal-Blade: it's not often humans walk right up and talk to me. do you need something?

M'rissi: Khajiit likes this one's no clothes!

Beth: the.. Augur from Winterhold sent us to find you, a drag-

Svelk: dragon-man. yes, that's what I am

Serana: doesn't that imply some dragon just had his way with a poor victim?

Svelk: oh no, then my mother would've died. my father was the human

Serana: I don't think I want to hear anymore of this..

Beth: we need to understand how to change the future!

Svelk: I don't have that knowledge, but I can lead you in the right direction

Serana: then hurry up and tell us

Svelk: it doesn't work that way. see, I'm a lonely dragon-man. I want a mate

Beth: I.. we.. you and me just met.. I'm not sure I can without some alcohol..

Svelk: no, no. I need someone of my kind. you find me a dragon-lady, and we'll talk

I would've removed that lioncloth from the body .nif mesh if I had time D:< Still going to later.. makes no difference to me he's a Dragon man :3

And one of the tastiest bits, too! This is the part you keep your fingers away from, with their crushing and cutting components. The Mud Crab, or Mangrove Crab, inhabits the estuarine mangrove waterways and is a prized catch in traps and

even sometimes on a line.

The crab grows to 20 cm across its green/brown carapace: this one has been cooked and eaten, maybe on a boat, and has turned red in the pot.

This was a male crab; you can't keep females, at least, not here in Queensland.

This is how we catch mud-crabs, folks. A baited safety pot is left for a considerable time - possibly a tidal cycle. It is safe to do this because, in theory, any crabs caught are unable to escape. Where the owner of this trap has miscalculated is that it was set too shallow, allowing the tide to recede and his catch to die in the sun. You can see a crab attempting to escape!

It can be more than your life is worth to handle someone else's trap, but we waded into deeper water and re-positioned it.

my dear husband threw in a couple of crab pots yesterday afternoon - he caught quite a few muddies, but only one was legal.

luckily it was a big one.

Mudcrab: It could be worse. You may be their slave, but at least you're not growing fungus everywhere.

Mary: Now I'm starting to wonder if I'm still dreaming after those ruffians struck me in the head. And how hard I was hit..

Seafood Market in Labrador on the Gold Coast, Queensland, August 5, 2014 Australia.

Today we meet up with a person from Flickr who lives in New Zealand and we just happened to be at Surfers that same week. We had a fantastic day together. First of all we went up to the top of the Q1 building. Then we visited the seafood market before having lunch.

Labrador is a suburb located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. The suburb overlooks the Gold Coast Broadwater to the east and Southport on the southern border.

There are many Aboriginal cultural sites across the Gold Coast. Labrador was part of traditional country for several families, due to the abundance of shell fish, mudcrabs, oysters and waterfowl in the area. The two local peoples most spoken of by the early settlers were the Yugambeh and Kombumerri Aboriginals.

Dawn Rix in her book Labrador - The early pioneers writes that a Scottish Engineer Robert Muir is believed to have named the area in the late 19th century after the a local fishery in north-eastern Canada, owing to the similarities both held in the recreational fishing of streams and the peninsula shape of the land.
