It's like there's something in the air
That turns you wild when a country song
Is way up loud and the sun goes down
Right about then, you lock eyes on me
You got me where you want me, where I wanna be
All up in the middle of your left and right
Your side to side, yeah, you're right on time when you
M-O-V-E, I love it
Yeah, I love it when you get that beat
Boots on, stomp your feet
It's like you've been waiting all week to
Move like you do
All sexy and smooth
Like you love to
Oh, girl, look at you
Legs and your hips
Live oak, moonlit
When that song hits
Damn, you turn it loose
Sawfly Larva
Spotted in the garden today. Pretty sure it is a Sawfly Larva but I don't know which particular species.
It has been a busy afternoon, I will be back this evening to catch up.
In the previous photo, the Little Egret was quite a distance away, but I decided I'd have to be patient and hope that he moved closer.
As it turned out, I didn't have long to wait. Less than five minutes later, the bird was on the move. The tide was dropping fast, and he clearly wanted something to eat before the waterway he was monitoring drained away to Nothing...
And as it turned out, the Little Egret didn't have long to wait either...! But most importantly for me, his search for lunch brought him very close to where I was perched precariously on a very unstable boulder!
Sometimes we Photographers really do get lucky...!!!
Keep smiling, thanks for visiting my Site, and thanks for taking the time and trouble to leave such kind Comments. It's always nice to hear from you...!

a-ha - „Summer moved on“
www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVl4qvHuY8g
Summer moved on
And the way it goes, you can't tag along
Honey moved out
And the way it went leaves no doubt
Moments will pass
In the morning light I found out
Seasons can't last
And there's just one thing left to ask
Stay, don't just walk away
And leave me another day
A day just like today
With nobody else around
Friendships move on
Until the day you can't get along
Handshakes unfold
And the way it goes, no one knows
Moments will pass
In the morning light I found out
Reasons can't last
So there's just one thing left to ask
Stay, don't just walk away
And leave me another day
A day just like today
Stay, don't just walk away
With nobody else around
Reasons can't last
And there's just one thing
Left to ask
Stay, don't just walk away
And leave me another day
A day just like today
Stay, don't just walk away
With nobody else around
Summer moved on
One boat-tailed grackle "moved in" to the sea oat stalk next door to another grackle and its stalk. Almost immediately, property lines became points of contention and the two neighbors simply couldn't co-exist is such proximity. This dune ain't big enough for the both of 'em.
I hope your moves are nearly as stunning this weekend my friends! Enjoy it no matter what you do! ~Sam

I love to hunt behind a good pointing dog and watch them use their noses to find grouse. I do this primarily in October in the beautiful fall forests of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The Ryman breed of English Setters are characterized as "old men's hunting dogs" and at 77 I qualify. I don't shoot very well anymore, but I don't know if I want to kill anything anyway. In the last three years I have bagged zero birds. The dog points them. I shoot and miss and we move on.
When we get home I don't have to clean anything and I am happy with that.
In the image my dog Bonnie is pointing a grouse as the sun drops in the west. I missed it!

15 years ago, the North Pole Express ran up the former New York Central Saginaw branch from Owosso to Chesaning. The train was much smaller in those days, and most of the trip was between 10 and 20 mph. The Saginaw County fairgrounds in Chesaning hosted the North Pole. A few years later, the decision was made to move the North Pole over to Ashley and run up the ex Ann Arbor mainline instead, somewhat due to deteriorating track conditions on the branch north of Oakley. SRI volunteers actually invested a lot of time and money into track work between Oakley and Chesaning in order to continue running 1225 up there, but eventually it became more than they could feasibly do. While the ex AA line is nice, the old NYC was more straight north/south and offered some interesting photos, like the classic Michigan Bean Co elevator in Henderson.

Couldn't think of an adequate story to go with this image. I'm drawn back to what it means to me looking at it. All I could think about was this song. It reminds me of my older brother I guess. Perhaps because I sat alone when photographing this scene, watching the darkness envelope these beautiful mountains and wished I wasn't. It brought back memories of many a late night spent with my older brother when we were teens. I took great comfort and trust in our conversations, his advice and opinion. We talked about everything under the sun and I remember many times sitting together and watching the stars rise high in the skies like a million tiny lanterns. It was my brother who also showed me this song before he left for boot camp. Since then we've both grown up and moved to different states but I think of those nights often when I'm up late.
Here's to
starry skies and memories of long nights... to loved ones who were willing to sit with us in both the cover of darkness and in the beauty of light.
Thank you as always for listening to my ramblings...
xx
