Taken for a project focusing on dance and movement. Producing very natural and free images.
For this third project we had to do stopped motion, blurred motion, and panning. I learned how to change the shutter speed according to what I was taking, how fast or slow they were moving, and what I wanted the picture to look like. Stop motion is where there is a subject that is moving is shown in clarity stopped. For this, I had to lower my aperture and increase my shutter speed, otherwise the leaves would have been blurred, or been to fast falling for the camera to even pick it up. Next, I did blurred motion. Blurred motion is where the subject is moving, and the camera takes the picture with a medium aperture and shutter speed so that the subject is blurred. So, since this calls for a lower shutter speed, I lowered both the shutter speed and the aperture. Finally, I did panning. For this set of pictures, I chose a different subject, my dog, to shoot instead. For a panned motion, I had to follow my dog around while shooting to get her and the background blurred. In conclusion, for this project, I had to improve on controlling my aperture and shutter speed, and also how to follow a moving subject to take a picture to the blur that I want.
Man, talk about a challenge! Probably not the best thing to try hand held! Note too self, set up the tripod next time. Anyway, I got a few good shots. Sort of a meditative excecise.
Couldn't get my 430EX to work off camera in manual with a ext cable. So, I just angled it. Now that I got the basics down, we can have some fun.
