i stood on the edge of zahara de la sierra, where the mountains crack open like time itself. the lake below, still as a breath held in silence, reflects the passing clouds like fleeting thoughts. between light and shadow, between motion and memory – this moment felt like a quiet exhale from the earth. i didn't take this photo, it happened to me.

She walks not to escape,

but to return—

to silence, to stillness, to herself.

The image captures a mysterious, almost mystical forest scene taken in the early hours of the morning, when the mist still lingers between the trees. The simple composition, where the fog almost swallows the outlines of the trees, evokes a sense of magic and tranquility. The soft light breaking through the mist casts a diffused glow across the scene, enveloping it in an atmosphere of mystery and discovery. This subtle yet powerful depiction captures a fleeting moment that feels both still and alive. The scene holds a near-painterly beauty that invites contemplation and reflection.

Sometimes our dog walks are mixed up with all weathers but it makes the landscape different and interesting every time we walk it!

A lone pine clings to the cliff edge, shaped by wind and weather, holding its ground above the fog.

Moments like this remind me why I keep walking with the camera — not for algorithms, not for sales, but for freedom.

Solche Momente erinnern mich daran, warum ich mit der Kamera unterwegs bin — nicht für Algorithmen, nicht für Verkäufe, sondern für die Freiheit.

In the Dolomites, even simplicity becomes profound under the weight of timeless stone.

beneath a sky stitched with fading light, a lone figure stands at the world’s edge, cradled by silence. between sea and sky, where all journeys end and begin, he carries the quiet weight of becoming.

Took Mollie our for her first long walk today after she hurt her foot three weeks ago! She is now hobbling on three legs again, but i am sure her foot will be ok. She loved every minute of her walk and she even managed a swim :-))

Into the Clouds of Mercantour From the heights of the Gordolasque Valley, the Mercantour landscape unfolds in raw beauty—steep rocky slopes, scattered boulders, and a winding trail that disappears into the mist. The valley stretches below, bathed in shifting light as clouds cling to jagged peaks. A place of solitude and grandeur, where every step feels like a passage through time and stone.

This reservoir at Denshaw has filled up slightly since we were last here. It still has a long way to go before it reaches its normal level.

The first frosty morning of autumn, with car windows iced over and the lawn sparkling with frost. Beautiful.

Is anyone else having problems with Flickr? After several failed attempts last night to upload this image i gave up! And its taking ages to load pages too!

Gordolasque Cascade – Alpine Pulse of Mercantour High in the Mercantour National Park, this pristine waterfall tumbles through rugged rock formations into a crystal-clear pool, revealing smooth stones beneath the surface. Surrounded by steep cliffs and sparse alpine vegetation, the scene captures the raw energy and serenity of mountain wilderness. A perfect fusion of motion, texture, and light—where water carves its story into stone.

Had some superb fog where i live for the last two days.

Autumn finds its way into the water — not through motion, but reflection. Here, the branches lean and linger above a slow current that carries only colour: gold turning to rose, light caught between shadow and warmth. I stood back to let it breathe — a moment suspended, framed by stillness.

Captured along the Don River in Glendon Forest, in the late afternoon when the light begins to soften and settle across the water.

Gordolasque Valley – Wild Heart of Mercantour Tucked deep within the Mercantour National Park, the Gordolasque Valley offers a raw and majestic alpine landscape. Towering peaks, scattered boulders, and a winding stream create a dramatic scene shaped by time and nature. This untouched corner of the French Alps is a haven for hikers, wildlife, and anyone seeking the silence of high-altitude wilderness. A place where geology, water, and light converge in perfect harmony.

When you see and feel how wet and boggy the moorland is for most of the year, its shocking to think it can catch fire and cause such devastation!

Driving along Tosenveien between Tosbotn and Lande in Brønnøy, Nordland, I didn’t expect to see any aurora that night. Heavy clouds covered the sky, but the northern lights were so powerful that they occasionally broke through the overcast, painting the night in shades of green.

Fun fact:

Tosenveien is part of County Road 76, connecting the inner parts of Nordland with the Helgeland coast. The area is known for dramatic mountain landscapes, tunnels carved through solid rock — and on rare nights like this, a glimpse of the aurora glowing through the clouds.

A church was first built here in the 5th century, in a clifftop location overlooking the sea. The founder was Hywyn, who established a prayer cell where he lived and preached to the nearby inhabitants. The current church was begun around 1137 as part of a concerted effort by Gruffudd ap Cynan, King of Gwynedd, to replace earlier wooden structures with stone.

The new church became a place of sanctuary, where fugitives could earn 40 days of respite from pursuit, and disputes could be heard. The Norman building was enlarged in the 15th century, and in the early 17th century Aberdaron was granted to St John's College, Cambridge, in whose possession it remained for over 300 years.

For centuries the church has been a stopping place for pilgrims on their way to Bardsey, off the south west tip of the Lleyn peninsula.

A moody day up at the reservoir on one of our regular dog walks. This shot pictures the reservoirs right of the fence (view my previous upload)!

This photo was taken from Baisse du Basto, a high mountain pass in the Mercantour National Park in the French Alps. The foreground is filled with large, jagged rocks, showing the rough and wild terrain typical of this altitude. In the distance, steep mountain slopes rise dramatically, partially covered by mist and clouds. A small patch of blue sky breaks through, adding contrast to the grey tones of the rocks and peaks. The scene feels remote and powerful—a raw glimpse into the alpine wilderness.

As you can see the weather came in .... we had sun, hailstone, wind and snow! Our dog walk was typically British, "four seasons in one day" !

My friend Tobias and I have been on a two-day hike in the Palatinate Forest in begin of August, 2025. We climbed up this sandstone formation in the dark and with our headlamps on. The weather was windy and partly wet. But we really enjoyed the view and the mood up there. We would stay out for hiking and shooting for the whole day and would have a warm dinner and campfire in the evening and a good night sleep in our tents.

This is another shot taken from a different location on Mont Saint-Michel. With views looking out over the bay it makes you realise that when the tide is at its highest the Mount becomes totally surrounded by the English Channel!
