Dordogne, France.

After two days of bike motoring we finally reached our rented farm house in the beautiful region of the Dordogne. This is a shot taken from the old barn looking across the crop fields. As we stood and looked i pulled up a chair to watch the distant lightening and listen to the deep rumbles of thunder ..... the farm kittens ran for shelter as the first large raindrops fell.

Time for us to settle down to a cold beer and a selection of French cheese on a yummy French baguette ....... then bed!

Marly-le-Roi matin de brume

Alpine stream in the Mercantour National Park A quiet mountain stream meanders through a golden valley beneath rugged peaks. The dry grasses and soft light hint at late summer, while the rocky slopes and open sky evoke the raw beauty of the Southern Alps. A peaceful moment captured in the heart of nature.

A moody day up at the reservoir on one of our regular dog walks. This shot is the reservoir left of the fence (view my previous upload)!

Another shot taken from our New Years Eve Walk looking over Crock Gate Reservoir and New Years Bridge Reservoir.

Normandy Estuary, France.

As you can see by this shot, the mist did not clear all day, but at times we caught a wee glimmer of light!

A shot taken from our walk on New Years eve. You will just about see Crock Gate reservoir in the distance and to the right of the picture just out of sight is an area of black. This is where we had the moor fire in summer.

This is a clip from a great "old" movie ... John Carpenters The Fog ..... a bit gruesome but great! (Im showing my age here!)

The horizon blazed with fire as storm clouds gathered over the Big Horn Basin near Cody, Wyoming. Twilight’s fleeting glow lit the sky in hues of gold and crimson, just before a passing brief and spotty evening rain shower.

Piethorne Valley, Rochdale.

This small lake lies just beyond Baisse du Basto, in the heart of the Mercantour National Park. Surrounded by jagged rocks and patches of alpine grass, the lake reflects the cloudy sky above, creating a calm and mysterious atmosphere. The rugged terrain and quiet water give the scene a wild, untouched feeling—perfect for hikers seeking solitude and raw beauty in the high mountains.

Morning light unfolding over the heath, between blossoms, webs and juniper. A day that begins in silence, yet tells stories of detail and depth, until the path itself becomes the last word.

Morgenlicht über der Heide, zwischen Blüten, Netzen und Wacholder. Ein Tag, der in Stille beginnt und doch Geschichten von Tiefe und Detail erzählt – bis am Ende der Weg selbst das letzte Wort hat.

Here, at twilight’s edge, the world softens. The chaos fades. What remains is pure—just the sea, the sky, and the stillness in between. It’s in this fading light that nature reveals its most tender truth: even in parting, there is peace.

Footsteps fading in the tide, carried by the summer drift.

The landscape of the moor is quite barren looking, but its a good walk :-))

While on a walk to Trearddur Bay to get some fish and chips for dinner we got caught in a hail storm.

We took shelter in this bay under some overhanging rocks until it passed. When we resumed our walk I spotted this boat...Happy Days!

The morning mist had faded, leaving the Moselle valley calm and wide open.

From the upper trail of Niederburg, the world stretched out in soft tones —

a quiet breath between light and silence.

In the still waters of a shadowed marsh, a silent predator glides just beneath the surface, its ridged back and unblinking eyes the only hints of its presence. The calm ripples betray no urgency, only the quiet menace of something ancient and patient. This black and white photograph captures the eerie tension of a moment suspended in time, where nature and nightmare blur. The creature’s form evokes myth and mystery, a lurking monster in plain sight.

My latest photography is now available for purchase at crsimages.pixels.com/, featuring prints, framed art, and more from my curated collections.

t's taken me over a year and half to get around to processing this photograph properly. I did a truly (and objectively) terrible job of this the first time around, applying a very over jealous teal and orange colour grade, to get what silly me thought was a "cinematic" look.

The main shot in question is of a lone Rowan tree on Cold Side (north western flank of Mam Tor) on a wild morning of wind and a extremely low but thin cloud base in October 2021.

This was only my second trip to the Peak District since my teenage years and looking back now I realise how special the conditions were and think of all the places I now know about that would have looked amazing. But hey! I've had a lot of fun exploring and getting to know the length of Hope Valley and beyond.

Gordolasque Waters – Where Mist Meets Stone In the heart of Mercantour National Park, this secluded waterfall flows gently over smooth rocks into a crystal-clear pool, surrounded by boulders, conifers, and steep cliffs. Mist drifts across the jagged peaks, adding a dreamlike atmosphere to the rugged alpine terrain. A moment of serenity carved by water and time—where nature whispers through stone and sky.

A quiet summer evening above the Elzbach Valley: the sun has just slipped behind the hills, the forest rests in deep green, and on the horizon rises Pyrmont Castle – like a silent guardian of the land.

The slopes naturally lead the eye towards the tower, while the sky and trees dissolve into warm and cool tones. A fleeting balance between calmness and tension, captured in light.

Above the lac de la fous – Near the Refuge de Nice, the Mercantour landscape unfolds in dramatic layers—meadows tinged with orange, scattered boulders, and jagged peaks rising into a misty sky. A narrow stream cuts through the valley, tracing nature’s quiet rhythm beneath overcast light. This high-altitude wilderness is raw, remote, and deeply poetic—a place where silence speaks louder than words.

i stood on the edge of zahara de la sierra, where the mountains crack open like time itself. the lake below, still as a breath held in silence, reflects the passing clouds like fleeting thoughts. between light and shadow, between motion and memory – this moment felt like a quiet exhale from the earth. i didn't take this photo, it happened to me.

She walks not to escape,

but to return—

to silence, to stillness, to herself.

The image captures a mysterious, almost mystical forest scene taken in the early hours of the morning, when the mist still lingers between the trees. The simple composition, where the fog almost swallows the outlines of the trees, evokes a sense of magic and tranquility. The soft light breaking through the mist casts a diffused glow across the scene, enveloping it in an atmosphere of mystery and discovery. This subtle yet powerful depiction captures a fleeting moment that feels both still and alive. The scene holds a near-painterly beauty that invites contemplation and reflection.

Sometimes our dog walks are mixed up with all weathers but it makes the landscape different and interesting every time we walk it!
