my friend, Sheri, and I just saw the Hockney portraits exhibit @ LACMA..

he uses more color but ... I guess this is the nature of homage: close but not quite.

The construction of the functionalist catholic Kauno Kristaus Prisikėlimo bazilika started in 1934. By 1940, the major construction work had been accomplished. During the soviet occupation of Lithuania the unfinished church was turned into a radio factory. When Lithuania regained its independence, the church was rehabilitated and the reconstruction started. The church was consecrated in 2004 and finished in 2005.

The pattern doesn't quite match the one in the book, but it's pretty close. I tried to keep the red and the dark pink from touching, but I don't think it would have mattered.
