Table Lamp with Nightlight
1930s Art Moderne, Modernist, Machine Aesthetic Design. Could be attributed to designer Gilbert Rohde who designed lamps for this company in the 1930s.
He designed over 35 lamps for this company and many were not documented.
Chrome (or Nickle) Plated with a Cream-colored Milk Glass Center.
Original Cloth Cord. Original Bakelight? plastic On/Off switch for the nightlight.
Adjustable shade holder with original finial.
Dimensions: 20 inches to 21 1/2 inches high; 4 1/2 diameter at the base. 9 inches high to the top of the glass/chrome base.
Weight: About 3 pounds, 14 ounces on a Postal Scale.
Condition: Mint to Very Good. All original parts (except for the shape) appear intact and in working order, including the pull chains and switch. All lamp sockets are in working order. I have not tried to clean the chrome---appears to have some minor surface issues (see photographs). Heavy base has a dull, matte finish as opposed to the chrome, banded rings at the top and the bottom of the glass center section. Original cords and interior fittings. One interior area seems to have been covered in electrical tape for safety.

De moderne blokdeuren van Anyway Doors worden steeds op maat gemaakt. De blokkader wordt gemaakt uit geanodiseerd aluminium en is niet zo dik als de muur, dus er wordt een omlijstingsloos effect gecreëerd en tevens bestaat er hierdoor geen kans op scheuren en barsten!

On peut entrer alors dans la discussion de la resolution et megapixels des mirroirs modernes, ne sont pas comme les traditionels...blablabla :D

This former commercial structure has some interesting moderne detail work. It is in the best shape of any building in desolate Downtown Braddock, PA and has been converted into a job training center and medical clinic.

De moderne deur van Anyway is opgebouwd met een aluminium omlijsting in tegenstelling tot hout wat de meeste fabrikanten gebruiken. Naast het sterke en onderhoudsvrije karakter biedt dit materiaal tevens een zeer modern en eigentijds aanzicht. Het deurblad wordt afgewerkt met een Resopal supermatte afwerking van HPL, wat onderhoudsvriendelijk en schildervrij is!

This beautiful but inscrutable metal decoration is one of many just like it that are attached at about eye level to the marble walls of the waiting room in Los Angles's Union Station.
My quick take on this is it's a stylized flower, perhaps a fleur de lis. Any other thoughts?
I wonder whether it was lacquered when it was installed to protect the finish from corrosion. If so, it worked!
If not, the conservator in me says it shoud have been allowed to develop a patina. By now it might have turned a lovely green.

Union Station [1939] was partially designed by John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson (the Parkinsons) who had also designed Los Angeles City Hall and other landmark Los Angeles buildings. They were assisted by a group of supporting architects, including Jan van der Linden. The structure combines Dutch Colonial Revival architecture (the suggestion of the Dutch-born Jan von der Linden), Mission Revival, and Streamline Moderne style, with architectural details such as eight-pointed stars.
