Didn't have that much luck that day... though on my way back into southwest Nebraska. I got alongside another developing cell. It was loosing steam but sure was photogenic.

Nice defined outflow boundary, and she did remain severe for about 40 mins then everything just went HP (High Precip) and nothing to chase. Everything started to develop to my northwest and it was out of range. No way was I going to catch up with those new storm cells.

Nothing bad about a bust storm chasing day. There will always be another... In the end.. It was a good chase day.

Not many chase days in the month of June 2017, as this day turned out way better than expected. You never know what you might encounter on a decent moderate risk day which was mostly on the eastern side of Nebraska and Western Iowa.

These first cells were moving from the north to the south as I encountered them just to the east of Schuyler Nebraska. I didn't have to to travel to western Iowa as all the action stayed in eastern Nebraska that day. It was mostly an HP mess for most of the ride till then.

Some decent structure out in front of this cell, so you know I what I was doing!

Honeycomb Tubes, Compass Point, Bude, Cornwall

Well, I have witnessed some quite incredible rocks on some of the world's finest beaches but yesterday's outing to Compass Point in Bude, Cornwall just about tops them all.

On arriving forty five minutes before sunset (once again minus the sun and colour), I was amazed by the sight of some stunning honeycomb structures that clung to various rocks. They appeared to be made of sand and were fragile to touch. They looked intricate and so beautiful.

On further research, it turns out that the tubes are made by Honeycomb worms, which are tiny worms that live around the low tide area of the beach. They build tubes, attached to the rock to live in and the structures we see on the beach are dense colonies made up of thousands of individual worms. Fully grown, each individual worm is around 3-4cm. The colonies however can often cover large areas of rock, forming solid reefs.

They are found all around the U.K’s coastline, predominantly on the western coast. The worms need a moderate amount of wave exposure in order to feed and form reefs so we tend to find them on beaches that aren’t too sheltered, which is exactly the habitat that North Cornwall provides. This is why they are so common on the beaches around Bude.

www.visitbude.info/blog/what-are-the-sand-honeycomb-struc...

Regarding this photo, I had a quick wander around but as soon as I saw this wonderful section of honeycomb rock, I positioned myself behind it. The tide was at its lowest point but was quickly incoming. after it turning. Within twenty minutes, there was enough water surrounding it to create this image. Fear not, I did not stand on any honeycombs when taking this shot.

This is the palest pink poinsettia I ever saw!

The tiny flowers in the middle of the pink star look like little mouths?

Euphorbia pulcherrima is a shrub or small tree, typically reaching a height of 0.6–4 metres (2 ft 0 in–13 ft 1 in).

The plant bears dark green dentate leaves that measure 7–16 centimetres (2.8–6.3 in) in length.

The coloured bracts —which are most often flaming red but can be orange, pale green, cream, pink, white, or marbled—are often mistaken for flower petals because of their groupings and colours, but are actually leaves.

The colours of the bracts are created through photoperiodism, meaning that they require darkness (12 hours at a time for at least five days in a row) to change colour.

At the same time, the plants require abundant light during the day for the brightest colour.[

The flowers of the poinsettia are unassuming and do not attract pollinators.

They are grouped within small yellow structures found in the center of each leaf bunch, and are called cyathia.]

The poinsettia is native to Mexico.

It is now found in the wild in deciduous tropical forests at moderate elevations from southern Sinaloa down the entire Pacific coast of Mexico to Chiapas and Guatemala.

It is also found in the interior in the hot, seasonally dry forests of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas.

May your coming days be full of goodness and joy, Magda (*_*)

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Song by

Dean Martin

Oh, the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful

And since we've no place to go

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Man it doesn't show signs of stopping

And I brought me some corn for popping

The lights are turned way down low

Let it snow! Let it snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight

How I'll hate going out in the storm

But if you'll really hold me tight

All the way home I'll be warm

And the fire is slowly dying

And, my dear, we're still goodbying

But as long as you'd love me so

Let it snow! Let it snow and snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight

How I'll hate going out in the storm

But if you really grab me tight

All the way home I'll be warm

Oh, the fire is slowly dying

And, my dear, we're still goodbying

But as long as you'd love me so

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Taken: Luanes Magical World , Morning Glow (195, 4, 21) - Moderate

I was getting ready to head out and perhaps find a serious landscape shot at the Magical World on Luane's sim, I had this niggling thing in the back if my mind so I went back into my pictures I have snapped and these two sweethearts popped out and said .."Remember us?" So I decided ..this is my serious picture ...for me..for the child in each of us who still see's the rain as a chance to jump in puddles, who used to ride a stick horse, who still believes in fairy tales, who cannot resist a puppy's kiss, who can sit in a field of flowers doing "loves me loves me not", who believes in Prince Charming on White horse, who see's a gown and thinks "I so wish I were Cinderella", who loves to be held close .. who knows that sometimes we are Peter Pan, sometimes we are Tootles looking for our Marbles. "I Love Tootles" They made me smile to myself because I truly hope I never get so old that I cannot remember to still embrace that child in me .. and to think I found them hidden in a tree trunk at Luane's Magical World. Sometimes when we find ourselves sort of down and out in RL .. we just have to take a big breath, look very deep inside, very close....and we will see "There we are".

You've gotta take the good days with the bad. Not all storm chases are going to be the one for the record books... hence this day.

Nice moderate risk day right on the Nebraska Kansas Border. We were in position again for a good chase but the storms formed just to our north and we stayed put due to guess on where the Cap was going to break that day.

On our way back we had our one chance that day. The cell went severe warned and we were on the back side of it. Nothing spectacular but this was the highlight of the day!

I would have easily missed this Spotted Deer, he was resting in the wood, partially hidden by the foliage. I just passed him, a slight turn of his head drew my attention. I tracked back a few steps and found this gorgeous animal.

The chital or cheetal (Axis axis), also known as spotted deer or axis deer, is a species of deer that is native in the Indian subcontinent. A moderate-sized deer, male chital reach nearly 90 centimetres and females 70 centimetres at the shoulder. While males weigh 30–75 kilograms, the lighter females weigh 25–45 kilograms. The upper parts are golden to rufous, completely covered in white spots. The abdomen, rump, throat, insides of legs, ears and tail are all white. The antlers, three-pronged, are nearly 1 metre (3.3 ft) long.- Wiki

This morning I was hiking along this road high up in the Swiss Alps. A man was working on the road with a pickaxe. His car was parked nearby. I did not know him. He asked me, "can you drive?". "Yes", I replied. He continued, "could you drive my car down to the village for me?". Apparently he was working his way down on the road and needed someone to drive his car down the mountain so that he does not have to walk back to get it. Only in the Swiss Alps you hand over car keys to a complete stranger. "Just leave the key in the car door compartment". "OK", and off I went.

My app said there was a moderate chance of a colorful sunset (9/26/24) but I was skeptical. It was a plain grayish-blue the whole time. About 10 minutes after sunset, I started heading back to my car, when a little pink appeared. I sprinted back to the lake at North Park and the sky was on fire by the time I got there. It stayed like this for only a few minutes. Always stay past sunset!

I removed a few cars and other distractions from the parking lot.

This shot of the Pine River at Deep Water Bend in the Tinchi Tamba wetlands, northern suburbs of Brisbane was taken a few weeks ago. It’s a sunny day today so hopefully the weather will remain sunny and moderate like this shot for the rest of the afternoon.

The cold snap accompanied by moderate winds and the light snow that we are experiencing here at Keefer Lake has me in the photographic archives hoping to find 'diamonds in the rust.' Which is to say, are there photographs I have taken in my extensive archives that I rejected not because of some basic flaw (e.g., out of focus, framed improperly) but because there was a technological shortcoming that I could not overcome? This photo is a case in point; it was underexposed badly by my ineptitude and therefore riddled with digital noise when I compensated for the underexposure (in spite of being shot at ISO 100). Using my limited skills at processing in 2007 and the Photoshop/Lightroom versions of that year I could not fix the noise. Today, I am admittedly only slightly more skilled - but the processing software (Photoshop/Lightroom) for noise has improved 'leaps and bounds.' IMHO, I was able to 'rescue' this fox and proudly present his portrait to the world (well, at least to my good friends on Flickr). Word to the wise ... don't erase your old photos, storage is (relatively) cheap and .... don't forget to backup and then back it all up again.

More Keefer Lake foxes whose portraits I have taken over the years can be viewed in the first comment box below. There have been black foxes that I've encountered at Keefer Lake but I have yet to get them to sit for a portrait. Cheers!

Storm Chasing Video from that day Click Here flic.kr/p/2nhQxV5

First Moderate Risk in South

Central Nebraska & North Central Kansas.

A short jaunt down the severe weather risk area that day from Kearney Nebraska. Arrived in Alma Nebraska a tad behind schedule. The storm was already tornado warned and produced a tornado southwest of Alma. Storm was raging and I wasn't in a good place. Had to core punch this storm & headed east via Hwy 136. That's were this collection of images starts.

I was east bound on Hwy 136 that skirts the border of Nebraska / Kansas. This would take me deep into the Moderate Risk for that severe weather day. Instability was visible everywhere out in front of this storm. A Mammatus Cluster with a wall cloud was right in front of me while another supercell was producing tornadoes behind my current location.

Wicked Beautiful Supercell Structure as I got up close & personal. Especially by Franklin Nebraska where I encountered my first Tornado of 2022.

East then north out of Red Cloud Nebraska. The storms were still producing severe weather but was exiting fast out of my range. End this day with a spectacular view of the backside of the storm. A huge mammatus cloud cluster to enjoy as I was heading home!

Another Moderate Risk day... but I'm the one taking the risk as I started my day in west central Kansas. Though just my luck all the action was in my backyard in south central Nebraska that afternoon. I should have stayed local...

Storm development was spotty at best, and the first storm was the best of the day, though I did get into some action once back into southwest Nebraska... I wasn't disappointed...

A739 encountering moderate rain on the way to Dothan from Georgia

The staircase is relatively moderate in terms of the height of the steps and the distance between them.

I wanted to show a little boy that you can ride down there at a leisurely pace.

So I got on my bike at the top and had a firm grip on the brakes so that I didn't go too fast.

However, I had misjudged things a little, as the wheels didn't have any contact with the ground as I was going downhill, so I ended up going faster than I initially thought.

I had already seen myself falling, but just as I reached the bottom I was able to come to a halt without crashing my bike.

I was lucky.

Overconfidence is rarely good and can end quite badly with broken bones in old age.

Body armor, also known as body armour, personal armor or armour, or a suit or coat of armor, is protective clothing designed to absorb or deflect physical attacks. Historically used to protect military personnel, today it is also used by various types of police (riot police in particular), private security guards or bodyguards, and occasionally ordinary civilians. Today there are two main types: regular non-plated body armor for moderate to substantial protection, and hard-plate reinforced body armor for maximum protection, such as used by combat soldiers.

Plate armour is a historical type of personal body armour made from bronze, iron, or steel plates, culminating in the iconic suit of armour entirely encasing the wearer. Full plate steel armour developed in Europe during the Late Middle Ages, especially in the context of the Hundred Years' War, from the coat of plates worn over mail suits during the 14th century.

In Europe, plate armour reached its peak in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The full suit of armour, also referred to as a panoply, is thus a feature of the very end of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period. Its popular association with the "medieval knight” is due to the specialised jousting armour which developed in the 16th century.

Full suits of Gothic plate armour were worn on the battlefields of the Burgundian and Italian Wars. The most heavily armoured troops of the period were heavy cavalry, such as the gendarmes and early cuirassiers, but the infantry troops of the Swiss mercenaries and the Landsknechts also took to wearing lighter suits of "three quarters" munition armour, leaving the lower legs unprotected.

Before knowing the weather condition of the Himalayan region we should understand its geography. The Himalayan region covers an area of 2,250 km with an average width of 200 km.

The forest belt of the Himalayan region consists of Oak, Rhododendron, Birch, Pine, Deodar, and Fir. And the monsoon season in this region lasts for mid June till the end of September. The Himalayas influences the meteorological conditions in the Indian subcontinent to the south and in the Central Asian highlands to the north to a great extent. It acts a climatic divider circulating the air and water system to a great extent. Because of its altitude and location it blocks the passage of the cold winds coming from the north to the Indian sub continent thereby making India's climate much more moderate. It also influences the rainfall pattern in India. The combined effect of rainfall, latitude and altitude largely influences the forests belts in the Himalayan region. The rainfall is mostly recorded during the monsoon time of June to September but it decreases as you travel from east to west. The snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas stretch 2, 250 km from the Namcha Barwa to Nanga Parbat on the Indus. The range extends from east to west up to central-Nepal and then takes a southeast to northwest direction.
