Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada - September 18, 2005 : 1924 Ford Model TT truck at Memory Lane Car Show at Bedford Place Mall, Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Joe and I took the streetcar from Jasper Avenue to Old Strathcona on Victoria Day. As we got off at the station, we noticed an Antique Ford Model T sitting by the trees. It was great to go and shoot this beautiful old car.

From one of our family albums, a sepia photo of a very well-dressed and proud owner of a Model-T Ford. This would have been taken perhaps in the mid-1910's somewhere in Victoria, B.C., Canada.

If it could be put onto wheels, it could put onto a Model T. If something beefier was needed, then it could be put on the Model TT, the heavy-duty version of the Model T. While the drivetrain in both was identical, the Model TT had a heavier frame and rear axle the sum of which gave it a rating of 1 short ton. While by no means quick, it was a reliable work horse on which all manner of hefty commercial applications was applied.

This TT is outfitted as Tanker Truck and liveried in bright orange and black with green trim for the no-longer-extant Ontario, Canada based Supertest Petroleum company. Operating from 1923 until 1973, Supertest Petroleum marketed itself as "Canada's All-Canadian Company" before being acquired by British Petroleum Canada in 1971. Hung with 1925 Ontario plates, the tanker unit on this truck has three compartments, 1100 litres up front, 750 litres in the middle, and 400 in the rear. Complete with extra coachlights, and a full complement of petroliana gas cans, it is rare to find any surviving commercial vehicles from this era, let along one in condition as nice as this.

Cost in 1909 $ 850 (eqv. today $ 20,513) but due to the increasing efficiency of line production the cost despite inflation had fallen in the 1920's to $ 290 (eqv. £ 3,259) In 2002 a small batch of six Model T were produced to mark Ford' centenary.

As evening approaches, A street Rod rumbles through the neighborhood.

This is the car that put people behind the wheel. Introduced in 1909 it priced so that middle-class Americans could afford it. The prices actually went down as time went on and more of them came off the assembly line, until it was discontinued in 1927. It came in a variety of body styles including this coupe. It came in "any color you want, as long as it's black."

1919 Model T Ford Speedster. Either these are really getting popular or it is just the touring club around here. I see quite a few on the street. This one has a RaJo engine with overhead valves.

With 6 seats, this Depot Hack Model T is sure to provide plenty of utility. Furthering this rugged simplicity is a lack of opening doors. Black paint and plenty of wood make for an attractive combination. The vehicle was first issued Netherlands registration in 1981 and today carries a modern registration card.

An amazing reproduction of the original car built by John Geraghty and co-owned by John Crawford. This one was built by Dave Shuten and the crew at Galpin Auto Sports. It has a blown 480" '57 Olds engine like the original. This was a display at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. The original car was the basis of the Monogram model car kit called the Green Hornet that every kid my age had to have (I still have one).

The Model T appeared on the market in 1908. It was affordable, sturdy and was enormously successful : more than 15 million units were produced between 190 and 1927. Ford built its factories close to its clients, and one of its first European factories was set-up in Antwerp in 1922. This car was acquired by Ghislain Many in 1944, and was the first car of his collection.

This ambulance bodied model T is typical of many used in active service, to transport the wounded away from the front lines and back to the dressing stations. Often they were donated by way of individuals and societies, or by way of public collections, Henry Ford was a pacifist and ruled that any Fords used on the battlefield, could only be for ambulance use . This vehicle has been featured in a number of TV roles, including The Village and in Crimson Fields amongst other productions.
