I bought this little brass model yesterday. They are scarce, with very few made. These are the seller's photos. When it arrives, I will restore the Lindsay "teaspoon of power" drive, but, I will leave the body shell the way it is.
Probably second only to Union Pacific, the 'Warbonnet' silver/red colours of the Santa Fe are known the world over. While the scheme found fame on ATSF's E and F-unit passenger units, the resurrection of the paint job on the railroad's wide-cab 'Superfleet' in the 1980s was a masterstroke. GP60M ATSF 127 rolls light engine through RS Tower, somewhere in the Mid-West.
The model is the work of Chris Ibbotson and is a light detail project using an Athearn (ex-RPP) GP60M. The picture was taken on RS Tower (rstower.wordpress.com) at the Andover Model Railway Exhibition on September 7th, 2008.

I have re-assembled this model after cleaning and repair of broken and missing parts. It was a rather sparse in details, and I did not add any to this project just to keep the appearance original. Some small items still need tweaking, but, for the most part it is done. This is the first Akane model that I have seen that came with a serial / production number. This one is number 93, and it is stamped in several locations with the number. These are common models, so this must be number 93 of hundreds made. This is the 1959 run year, with un-sprung drivers. The videos are the first and second test runs after assembly, they are not good, but, you get the idea anyway.
I wanted to see how slow this model could run without stalling. It's an old Gem Models SP AC-9 that I upgraded from the original open frame motor to a large can motor.
