Miniature World: The Greatest Little Show on Earth
While walking past Miniature World in Victoria, BC, I wondered if I could achieve a tilt-shift effect on an already miniaturized world by getting really, really close with my 16-35mm f/4 lens.
The f/4 gives me an already shallow DOF, and getting really close to anything decreases that DOF exponentially. The 16mm lens on my full frame Nikon is ultrawide, so I can get the entire scene in even when only inches from the model.
Turns out I could actually have gone with a smaller aperture, f/6.3 or even f/7.1, and still kept the focus tight on the man reading the paper while dropping the grannies out of focus. That capability gives me a wide range of potential subjects in every scene. The next time, I'll try a shot with the grannies in focus and the man blurred out, to see how I can change the feeling of the photograph.
This diorama can be viewed for free in the entrance of Miniature World; I'm looking forward to going back and seeing the whole show, I hear it's extensive. For more information, check out their website:

Plants on the dune near Nitzanim beach.
While walking from the beach to the dunes I saw these plants on a little hill and thought it would be interesting to shoot from down low and mimic a landscape shot with these little plants as trees.
The units are exceptionally well done, but my suggestion is that the fine cab details be supplied separately. The sunshades suffered some shipping damage and all four mirrors were broken off; I was only able to find one out of the four. I have spares so it's not that big of a deal (to me...) to add replacements.

Miniature bottle pendant with Shakespeare inside. You can put anything you like in these as long as it fits!
I've had these miniature Pepsi bottles and paper carrying case since I was a kid and I don't remember where I got them or who gave them to me. The bottles measure just a tad under 2.5 inches tall.
