Week 7 ran from August 8, 2011 Week until August 12, 2011 ! During week 7 basketball skill guru Irv Magill ran a clinic for our Senior Camp Basketball Club and our CIT basketball team. He stressed posture, balance, and advanced ball handling skills. Also, the CITs took a 3 day 2 night trip to the Poconos! We hope everyone enjoyed themselves! We have just one week left before camp ends! Let's make week 8 the best!

An elegant copy of the "Quintet" (Khamsah) of Niẓāmī Ganjavī (d.605 AH / 1209 CE) penned by Abū Bakr Shāh ibn Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī al-Shahrastānī and illuminated by Jamāl al-Dīn ibn Muḥammad al-Ṣiddīqī al-Iṣfahānī between 892 AH / 1486 CE and 900 AH / 1494-05 CE. The present codex, opening with a double-page decoration and the inscription giving the name of the author and the title of the work,contains four additional illuminated headpieces with the names of the individual books and 26 repainted miniatures. The page depicts Farhād, the lover of Shīrīn, in the presence of the King’s messenger.

A couple years ago I went through an obsession with folding things as small as I could. These are some of the results, photographed on top of a Goran-style bowl that I made yesterday out of printer paper (64x64 grid) (which makes an excellent backdrop for such models!)
I realized that I'd never uploaded any photos from this vein of thought, so here it is. I've also got the usual cranes and such, but that's kind of boring so I won't bother.
First attempt at miniature scale fleet building, in a slightly steampunk tone.
The name given to this particular fleet is Russian, being roughly translated as "torment." (And by roughly translated, I mean I used Google traslator, and I don't know how reliable that is.)
A wooden country rectangular table to celebrate fall and ts products.
You can see three different baskets full of orange, yellow and green pumpkins, then green and violet cabbages, or red and green grapes.
On a wooden chopping board, some mushrooms are being cut into pieces to make a risotto? a soup? a tasty pasta? They're still a bit covered with dirt and need to be clean carefully!
Two big round pumpkins, three red pomegranates andsome roast chestnuts wrapped in paper complete this beautiful table.

I love the challenge of making mini quilts. A friend asked me to make a miniature quilt block for inclusion in a charity quilt, her only requirement was that it had to be 5 inches or smaller. I made two - the first one ended up at 6.5 inches, and I could NOT get some of the seams to match up. So I shrunk the pattern, starched the snot out of the fabrics before I cut them, and made this one. It's 5" from red tip to red tip.
This is Cecily, and tiny matchbox-dwelling kitten.
She's small enough to fit in a spoon, and she's outfitted in a tiny striped skirt with a coordinating bow.
I've had this test tube set since 2003 when I won it on Yahoo Japan. It's part of a retired Bandai school set. I won it for a mere 1000yen and now I'm shocked to see how much the individual pieces go for on Ebay these days!

I decided to abandon my old method of storing my miniatures (using shelves - www.flickr.com/photos/spilth/211401021/in/set-72157594351... and start using plastic bins for them. The bins allow me to still keep them sorted by type, but forgo keeping them sorted by size and count. Keeping them sorted by type, size and count makes them really easy to find, but extremely annoying to put back. Now my friends and I can just put them back in the correct Type bin and be done with them. It makes finding them a little bit more time consuming but I think it's a good trade off.
I also decided to move my books to the other side of the room and maybe get rid of the book shelf on the opposite, thus giving everybody a little more room around the table during games.
This is a nice example of the kind of miniature cross stitch embroidery that is created in the Mazahua community of San Felipe Santiago in the state of Mexico. This piece measures 5 inches by 7.5 inches

Week 1 beginning June 25, 2012 and ending June 29, 2012 was the start to Willow Grove Day Camp's 58th season. What a great feeling to start another great summer! It is great to be back in session for a summer of fun, laughter, and memories!
The first week of camp was filled with sun and fun. Clubs started for the campers this week. WGDC campers spent the week dancing, swimming, playing basketball, tennis, soccer, baseball and so much more! On Friday, campers attended Gustafson's Magic Show.
