A rare circa 1960s BMC Mini ¼-Ton LHD Pickup Truck sits abandoned and neglected on the Ionian island of Kefalonia, Greece. I am not certain which exact year this example was produced, although the original Mini Pickup was built from 1961-1983, with a total of 58,179 reportedly produced. It seems that external door hinges (which were found on all Minis built from 1959-‘68), were still present on the pickup variant throughout its lifetime. This Mini Pickup will have no doubt worked a long and very hard life over here, until presumably finally being parked when something major went very wrong. Regardless, someone out there would still pay money for this, even if only as an original parts donor source.
The red car in the background is a circa 1983-’86 Ford Escort MKIII. Behind that is a yellow JCB digger/excavator.

I felt the urge to work on something quick and fun last night, so I started this little mini quilt. Jessica was working with these gorgeous Pat Bravo Pure Elements solids this past weekend. She happened to throw out quite a few scraps (you know, those ones that most normal people throw out, but I save!). I dug through them and found 5 small rectangles of each of the colors she used. In her defense I think the biggest scrap was 1.25" by 3.5"? Some were as small as .75"x3.25". I have a problem with scraps!
Hopefully this isn't totally weird, haha! I simply love these fabrics, but shouldn't really be buying them right now. This was a way for me to satisfy my hunger!
I finished it off with Heath by Alexander Henry, a new favorite, and this dark gray JoAnns print, an old favorite. I was finally able to play around with fun organic quilting lines and I have to say, despite how time consuming it is, I love the result!
This little mini quilt is destined for my side table!
In real life, this was maybe about a centimeter in diameter. I have no idea what exactly it is, but it looks like a dried up mini flower in the snow.

The early Mini sales were less than anticipated and designer Sir Alec Issigonis and John Cooper saw the potential for a competition based performance version. Cooper and his father Charlie had formed the Cooper Car Company and designer and builder of Formula One and rally cars, which went on to multiple Formula One World Championship success and pioneered the use of rear engined racing cars. The two men collaborated to create the Mini Cooper which debuted in 1961 on the track the cars won the the British Saloon Car Championship in the hands of Rhodesian John Love the first non non British racing driver to hold the title, and won possibly 100s of other saloon races. In rallying the cars were even more successful dominating international rallies, including a hat trick of wins in the 1000 Lakes for Timo Makinen and an unofficial hat trick of Monte Carlo wins, prevented only by a little chicanery of the rules by the authorities baring the third win. The Cooper redefined the image of the little car, which now went from strength to strength in terms of sales. in 1971 the Cooper name was licensed by Innocenti in Italy. and in 1973 to Spain by Authi (Automoviles de Turismo Hispano-Ingleses), which began to produce the Innocenti Mini Cooper 1300 and the Authi Mini Cooper 1300, respectively. The Cooper name was discontinued from the UK Mini range at this time.
The Cooper name was revived by RSP (Rover Special Products) and was briefly relaunched in 1990–1991, with slightly lower performance than the 1960s Cooper. It proved popular and a new Cooper-marked Mini went into full production in late 1991. From 1992, Coopers were fitted with a fuel-injected version of the 1,275 cc engine, and in 1997 a multi-point fuel injected engine was introduced, along with a front-mounted radiator and various safety improvements.
When reintroduced the Mini Cooper was built to the then current Mini Mark VI specification and was duly updated in 1996 as a Mark VII with front mounted radiator. Full-width dashboard replaces the original shelf, internal bonnet release. Introduction of airbag on driver's side. The last Mini ever produced, was a a red Cooper Sport on 4th October 2000

A Mini Jet Black - probably not named after The Stranglers' drummer, but if BL/Austin (whoever was in charge at the time) had been that cool, the world might have been different.

Mini Clubman John Cooper Works 2018
Based on the BMW UKL2 platform. At the time of its debut, the Mini Clubman was the largest Mini ever manufactured by the brand, measuring 427 cm long and 180 cm wide. It abandons the previous model's asymmetrical door layout for a standard four-door design, but it retains the rear barn doors.
The top-of-the-line John Cooper Works version produces 170kW from the BMW B48A20 engine, and has the ALL4 four-wheel-drive system as standard. The sprint to 100km/h takes 6,3 s and top speed is 238 km/h.

4 12" Swoon blocks with wider sashing to accomodate extra stars. The finished quilt is 34x34" and all but one of the fabrics if from various Moda ranges. I straight line quilted it, echoing some of the seam lines.

Chocolate mini cakes. Mum just wanted the 3 turtles on it.
When I delivered, Charlie wanted to touch it right away. Such a cute lil girl.
An old build of mine from a time before I had a Flickr. I hope you all enjoy!

Was at the annual church retreat this weekend, so not a lot of time to create tonight. Bad lighting yet again! My apologies!!!
Does anybody else think this could use a few stitched leaves? Now that I'm returning to it after a night's sleep, I think it needs something. (Only bad thing about not getting to create stuff before Sunday - no time to let it incubate!)
