Q326 rolls by the miniature golf course in Grandville on a sunny afternoon in July. This was the first train I shot with my first DSLR.

DIY mini softbox. It's not big but it is clever.
Making one is very easy indeed. Just find any appropriately sized box, the first version I made was from a cereal packet, but I found this stronger one. Then simply cut out one side and cover it with something like tracing paper. I guess normal paper would do, but you'd get less light coming through the thicker paper. Then just cut a hole in the bottom and stick your flash up into the box.
Kind of obviously, I have found best results when you get the softbox as close to the subject as you can without it being in the shot. It would be excellent for macro type shots but its also not half bad when the subject is further away.

I went through my stash and chose a few of my favorite prints, not caring if they really coordinate and used the scissor scull guys in the middle because I plan to hang it somewhere around my sewing area.
I also used this one to practice the circle quilting. It was easier than I expected.

Mini Moo is doing well. He visited the vet yesterday, and then returned to my friends' farm to stay in their upstairs bathroom. I know that he will get more of the interaction that he craves staying in a house that homeschools three young kids rather than in the home of someone who is more often than not gone twelve hours a day for work. I have visiting privileges, of course! At the vet, Mini Moo received an antibiotic injection. He also will have ear drops, eye drops, a med to treat parasites, and lysine. This little trooper continues to be able to eat on his own and his drive to live is back in full gear. I truly hope and pray that his eyes respond to the treatment. . . I don't wish for Mini Moo to live with chronic eye issues (although I know the quality of life can be easily great. . . just look at Gumbo!). We are also praying for the right home for this little love bug!
I made mini cakes for my daughter's seventh birthday, with little fondant roses glittered with pink food glitter, and pink piping.
So after looking at my 2014 builds again, I decided to once again build a new version of an older design. Once again, I started from scratch as there were so many new techniques that I wanted to use. I was actually browsing Flickr when I came across Jonathan Elliott's Mini Coopers and decided to borrow the grille shape and front fender technique (sort of). Plus this is the first of my renderings to get the logos in the corner as there was some positive feedback on that. Enjoy!

We bought some mini white pumpkins to decorate our Thanksgiving table this year. I thought I'd give focus stacking a try to see how it works out.

Parisian, built to the same scale as set 10230: Mini Modulars. I took a lot of influence from other builders on this one, so credit where it's due: the front roof design is a very gently modified version of Chricki's brilliant design on Rebrickable, and the general window spacing/proportions are based on fgee's model.
I realized only as I was editing the photos that I made the dumpster's lid light gray instead of the dark gray that it should be. Oh well!
This has actually been built for a while; I just never photographed and posted it. Nothing like a little social distancing to help find things to do.
The concept is simple: I wanted to contextualize the mini modular buildings that my partner and I have been designing and building, and I wanted it to be an equally modular and expansive system to keep up with out growing mini city, as well as simple and inexpensive to build large amounts of. Here's what I came up with! They connect with a pair of Technic pins on each side, just like the modulars.
