Gathering of the minds to convey a message to the public. The photo was taken on the 16th of November in front of the clock tower, Kandy.
Moleskine Messages Collection is a family of newly conceived cards, a hybrid creation combining classic notebooks and traditional greeting cards.

Taken Near the giant Buddha figure at Saraksan National Park in Gyungi-do, South Korea. For around $10 visitors can write their messages on these tiles which will be used any new building or done for the temples.
We encourage clients to include a few mail slots in areas such as this. This is a basic design made of alder with standard overlay, flat panel doors. The door goes to the garage.
These boxes hung 6 storeys through the middle of the MegaBox mall. You can text a phone number and your message scrolls up through the boxes (the benefits of a vertically written language, I guess).
Apparently, most of them said things like "I love you" and "Happy Birthday".

This message has been on display at one of the neighborhood Baptist churches for a couple weeks or more. Seems to be that when they have “a good one,” they let it go for a pretty good run. I’ll have to admit, this one does give me something to think about, every time I pass by. I wondered, for instance, if it was a thought that just popped into the head of the pastor one recent day. I kind of doubted that though. The logical thing to do, of course, is a bit of quick Googling. Which revealed that – as suspected – the witty and pithy homily has been bouncing around for a while.
For instance, Brandon, a blogger who describes himself as a Christian gay guy from Kentucky, wrote in 2007 that one of his favorite quotes is “if you stop to give the devil a ride, eventually he'll want to be the one doing the driving.”

Another blogger, a Cathy Deaton, also took the quote as a jumping-off point for a posting on her website, which is titled "Who God Is." Her version of the saying is, "Never give the devil a ride, he’ll want to take over the driving." She attributes it to "anonymous."

I can't find the date of writing or posting, but another writer on the web, Robert Longman, uses a slightly different version of the quote ...

But anyway, as mentioned, this little quote has served as grist for a good deal of commentary and discussion. It also got me wondering on a somewhat wider scope. Specifically, about how references to "Satan" come up fairly often in utterances from some of the Muslim clerics and leaders. They especially like to refer to the U.S. as the "great satan" of the world. So, I wondered how that little line or two would translate into Arabic. I'll bet it wouldn't come out on the other side with the same meaning that's attached to it in the uses cited above. It might just sound strange. Or funny. Or, who knows?

ABOUT THE BOOK
The Message of Shah is an English interpretation of nearly 3400 lyrics from a magnum opus of mystic melodies called شاهه جو رسالو renditioned by a polyglot poet, philosopher and musicologist Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. The poetry give a glimpse of the metaphysical precepts of genesis of being and canons of the Sufi doctrine of وحدت الوجود or unity of existence.
Metaphorical poetry immortalizes the legendary Queens of Sindhi folklore and also enunciates ethos of ascetics, peasants, sailors, fishermen, spinners and bards. Distinctive feature of the passionate poetry is its lyrical rendition, which conforms to the recognized ragas. Sixteen of these ragas are adapted while fourteen are invention of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
The Message of Shah seeks to retain the philosophical flavor and didactic, romantic and epic metaphors in the pristine poetry that echo a spiritual voyage through pastures, prairies, deserts, hills and harbors of Indus valley civilization.

This was a message in a bottle that my Dad found on East Preston beach, it was from a girl with special needs at a school in Guernsey.
I wrote back, but haven't had a reply.
No, this isn't supposed to be some sort of masterful piece of editing. It's not.
Don't comment say, "Oh, well Obama's lowering taxes for 95% of the nation." Because yeah, thanks, I already know that. It's the other 5% hike I'm talking about.
Don't get me wrong, he's going to be my president now, and I know that's not going to change. I'm hoping he'll do a good job. I just can't stand these "You've brought back HOPE" messages. Like seriously, he hasn't even taken office yet! Time for a little kick of reality now.
Please don't write any harsh comments. If you have something negative to say, do it in a way that I can actually respect you in.
I'm not responding to any more negative comments, only because I have my opinion, and if you disagree, then great, you disagree with your opinion. Nothing I say or you say will change either of those. Feel free to still comment, I still read them.

Violet passed away in the last week of December 2009. I'd been wanting to revisit her house for several years now and with her death I wanted to make a more thorough record of the writings and things on her property before it was all gone, since we never had the opportunity to meet. She must have been an incredibly fascinating character. Long live Violet.
