At 1:40pm yesterday (Friday) a lone "white supremacist" gunman walked into the Masjid Al Noor mosque and opened fire. 41 people, mainly men and boys at pray were murdered in cold blood.
The gunman then drove several km to another smaller mosque and killed seven there.
In total 40 more were injured, one of whom passed away in hospital, so 49 were murdered (at this stage). 20 are still in a critical status. One small girl has been airlifted to the specialist children's hospital in Auckland.
38 minutes from the time of his first shot he was arrested in a car with several bombs and more firearms in it.
It is one of the first cases of terrorism in New Zealand and has affected our country deeply.
Today there were several sites around the city for laying of wreaths, floral tributes and messages.
My wife, a Muslim, bought some flowers and we went to the preferred location and lay the flowers at the fence.
