merlot grapes on the vine

Good morning. It felt like a Marilyn Monroe Monday again so I thought I would post another set of Marilyn Merlot labels starting sequencially with the 1997 release.

As with the three labels posted last Monday all three today use photos taken by Milton Greene, Marilyn's photographer and business partner from 1953 to 1957. The above is from what was known as the "Red-dress Sitting" and was photographed in 1957 for "Life" magazine at Greene's New York studio. After a total of 50 photo sessions it would be the last time Marilyn and Milton worked together. This sitting produced several memorable images, which display the playful eroticism that was apparent in all their work together.

Take care...and I hope everyone has a great MM Monday and week.

Have a wonderful day filled with love, fun, cake and some cheers! (maybe not *quite* this much though or Tuesday will be not so nice)

(I do wonder if they meant to write "Why shouldn't boxed wine come with a little straw stuck to the side?") lol!

A little Merlot tonight. I've wanted to do this shot for a while. It was a little tougher to do than I thought though. I had to bump up contrast quite a bit in post.

...another wine pic. I just had to.

I've barely had any time to practice with my new camera, but I'm loving it so far... This was taken In beautiful Anderson Valley in Northern, California at Yorkville Winery.

Lighting: 30" photo light box with red background and 'floor'. Nikon Speedlight 910 with small difuser camera right outside of box. I believe ratio was 1/40. Daylight on top and left side of box. Converted to black and white with NIK Silver Efex via Photoshop.

Glass quarter filled with merlot. Back lighting was done using regular flash light (not photographic flash). No photoshop or other photo editing software used. Light painting was used for the effect.
