One of the major attractions of Yosemite National Park is Yosemite Falls, the highest measured waterfall in North America with an altitude of 739 metres in total. The falls consist of three sections: the Upper Falls, which you can see here, the Middle Cascades, hidden behind that rock and the Lower Falls, which can barely be seen on this photo. Believe me: it is not only a very beautiful place but also a highly impressive one.
This capture is SOOC. I did use a circular polarizer here which worked well on the colors.

To the unsuspecting eye, this looks like just another bird, but the Dipper is far from that.
This was my 3rd time seeing one, and my first good opportunity for quality photos.

I came across this wreckage on an early morning walk on the Merced River in Yosemite National Park. Nonetheless, it was a stunning sight of beauty! These logs along the banks and on the river's bottom will be washed away by the spring's heavy flow, but be replaced by others just like them.
This is called Half Dome Mountain. It's a granite dome in Yosemite National Park in California. This view is from the Sentinel Bridge in the Yosemite Valley Village.
When I started considering this trip to Yosemite back in November, I knew this was one shot I really wanted to get. I'd gotten a shorter duration version of it about 3 years ago but really wanted more of a pronounced star trail this time.
It's unfortunate that there is a high altitude flight path right over Yosemite that messes with shots like this but I gave up trying to remove those from the shot and just went with what we actually experienced that night.

Recently, Rishabh and I were at Yosemite. As we drove into the park – with tire chains on my Prius– we saw several vehicles exiting the valley with a foot of snow on their top. It had been snowing relentlessly in the Sierra for the past couple of days and another wet atmospheric river was to come Yosemite's way the next day (which would eventually shut the park down for weeks). On this day however, the snow was doing to Yosemite what—as Pablo Neruda said—spring does to the cherry trees. Transformed thus into a brazen enigma, Yosemite was unrecognizable. She was like a song, whose lyrics I could not recall. She was like a sadness for which I could not cry. And yet, she was felt. In silence. As Urrutia.
I wish you all a nice and safe weekend, my friends - take care, Werner
We were very lucky that the Tioga Pass was not yet closed due to snow at this time of year and so we were able to drive into the beautiful Yosemite National Park for a day and enjoy this idyllic landscape
Pure Idylle - Merced River Panorama, Yosemite Nationalpark, Kalifornien
Fresh layer of late December California snowfall blankets Yosemite Valley, as the Upper Yosemite Falls thunders, seemingly from the clouds, dropping to the valley floor below, its silent reflection interrupted only by the layer of ice forming on the gently flowing Merced River.
This vista never looks the same! Not much water in Yosemite Falls, but I do like the dusting of snow atop the cliffs and, of course, the reflections.
Hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

With Autumn approaching, I really miss the two days I spent wandering in the place Lincoln called "inviolable," the best way mother nature showcased her beauty.

Taken near sunset in Yosemite National Park. Swimmers can be seen just beyond the sandbar.
Shadows come early to Yosemite Valley. The water of the Merced River is low at this time of year . . . but its stillness offers a reward of reflections.
The Merced river can present you with some very interesting spots to photograph as it twists and turns along its course through Yosemite valley. And in the winter, those twists and turns can become magical.
