This is the largest barbet at 32–33 cm length and 210 g weight. It is a plump bird, with a short neck, large head and short tail.
The adult has a blue head, large yellow bill, brown back and breast, green-streaked yellow belly and red vent. The rest of the plumage is green. Both sexes and immature birds are similar.
The Coppersmith Barbet, Crimson-breasted Barbet or Coppersmith (Megalaima haemacephala), is a bird with crimson forehead and throat which is best known for its metronomic call that has been likened to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer. It is a resident found in South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. Like other barbets, they chisel out a hole inside a tree to build their nest. They are mainly fruit eating but will take sometimes insects, especially winged termites.

＊花和尚，五色鳥的別名。此鳥頭與喉部，長有黃、紅、藍、黑色羽毛，身體則為翠綠色，因此稱為五色鳥。而叫聲像是和尚敲打木魚的聲音，所以又稱花和尚。另外，在台灣，五色鳥也被稱為國母鳥。

This beautiful barbet was feeding its chick, the light was although harsh but at least the direction was right

This brown-headed barbet (Megalaima Zeylanica) has been industriously drilling a hole in the tree opposite my balcony. Although shy, it gave me several opportunities to click pictures while its mate observed from nearby cover.
Large Barbet with distinct brown head,upper back and throat,which are streaked with white.it ha a big red-orange bill and a yellow-orange patch around the eye. The legs are orange too! It has a high-pitched call that goes kutroo kutroo,kutroo kutroo. :)
Coppersmith Barbet (Megalaima haemacephala) at King's Lodge grounds (Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, India) . Winter is a fruiting season for the guava tree and this appears to be a favourite food for these birds and they, along with the parakeets, seem to make quite a beeline for this fruit.
