The Coppersmith Barbet, Crimson-breasted Barbet or Coppersmith (Megalaima haemacephala), is a bird with crimson forehead and throat which is best known for its metronomic call that has been likened to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer. It is a resident found in South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. Like other barbets, they chisel out a hole inside a tree to build their nest. They are mainly fruit eating but will take insects.
This species of barbet is found to overlap in range with larger barbets in most of South Asia. In the Western Ghats, it also overlaps with the Malabar Barbet which has a very similar size and a more rapid call. The red forehead, yellow eye-ring and throat patch with streaked underside and green upperparts, it is fairly distinctive. Juveniles are duller and lack the red patches. The sexes are alike. The Sri Lankan form has more black on the face, more red on the breast and darker streaks on the underside.
Throughout their wide range they are found in gardens, groves and sparse woodland. Habitats with trees having dead wood suitable for excavation is said to be important. Birds nest and roost in cavities.

Here are some photos taken of the Taiwan Barbet, also known as the Five Coloured Bird in Daan Park, Taipei, Taiwan. This bird is endemic to the island of Taiwan. When I visited the park there were several trees cordoned off to keep photographers from getting too close. The birds nest in holes in the trees and one of the pair, in this case the male flies off and brings back food. I took these photos a couple days prior to Typhoon Soudelor hitting the city. The female comes up from the nest for air and calls out to the male. The day after the typhoon I returned and sadly the tree, and of course the nest had been destroyed in the storm. I saw the male up high in a nearby tree calling out over and over, so he may have lost his mate.
The Black-browed Barbet or Müller's Barbet (Megalaima oorti) is a bird belonging to the Asian barbet family, Megalaimidae.
It is 20-23.5 cm long. The plumage is mostly green apart from the head which is patterned with blue, yellow and red. There is a black stripe above the eye. The bill is black and the feet are grey-green. The Chinese name for the bird, "five-colored bird" (五色鳥) refers to the five colors seen on its plumage. Because of its colorful plumage and that its call resembles that of a percussion instrument known as a wooden fish, the species is also referred to as the "spotted monk of the forest" in Taiwan.
Blue-eared Barbet (Male) . Megalaima australis duvaucelii . 蓝耳拟啄木鸟
Among the 7 species of Barbet we sighted on this fruiting tree, blue-eared barbet was the smallest barbet with 2-3cm smaller than the brown barbet. Furthermore, it only came back to collect thr ripe fruits but not enjoying the meal on that tree, this make it even harder to spot the bird... waited for ~20-30min only back to collect fruit for less than 1 minute. Suspected either collect fruit to feed the female or the chicks. This was my lucky shot that he perch on an open branch once arrived. Barbet, normally stay high up on trees tip, only when its feeding time then we have chances to see/ shoot it at lower angle even eyes level, depend on the height of the fruiting tree. They love to eat fruits, especially wild fruits.
