To walk through the park is always relaxing, especially when the weather is so bad that no one else goes out. Before I knew the "shoe-tree" in the picture above I had no idea about the meaning of the strange tradition. Shoe tossing or "shoefiti" is the practice of throwing shoes with their shoelaces tied together so that they hang from overhead wires or trees. I read that shoe tossing comes from the United States, but it's also been reported in many other countries. For example, soldiers leaving the US military often paint a pair of combat boots and toss them over a power line or telephone wire near the barracks. Some others also say that shoes hanging from the wires advertise a local crack house where crack cocaine is used and sold. Other less criminal explanations have been ventured for the practice. In some cultures, shoes are flung to remind us of the end of a school year, or a forthcoming marriage as part of a rite of passage.

This afternoon myself and a friend went to the cinema to watch the new Twilight movie.
We are both big fans of the films but this is the first time we have been together. I have only just started to read the books on my kindle, so far I'm only a few pages into book one, were as my friend has read them all so she knew what to expect, I'm glad I had no idea what was going to happen, it made it more exciting.
While watching the film there were a few laughs, tears and excitment. It was a great film, I can't wait for them to bring the box set out so I can get it and watch them all over again.

My insomnia strike again, damn! blame it on my thesis, work, and all that stuffs hanging on my head (or brain? haha). I actually don't have an insomnia, but sometime I think I do have that. (sorry if this confusing the readers) well, I open my laptop, try to find an inspiration for the next photo for this project. FYI, I took this early in the morning (3 AM).
The Inspiration for this photo: one of my buddy, Phil Hearing. I really do admire his 365 Days Project, and thinking about to do a couple more photos which inspired by his 365 days project, to see his photo, here --> www.flickr.com/photos/philhearing/4172463627/in/set-72157...

This morning I tried the first picture wit my new Sony wide angle SEL1018. I bought it for the journey to the states and the wide landscapes over there. This here must be at a focal length of 10mm at APS-C. I hope this is enough for the wide landscapes over there! Anyway, I will see in the next days. Tomorrow I will take my last shot in Germany for August and this is really strange for me. I have to think about the time difference and the way to get the pictures into my lightroom library and other things. I guess I have to accept that I will have a day off for traveling and the time difference, otherwise I won't make it all the way through the states... We'll see... Good night folks.

Today I got a second chance to inspect a house, which is for sale. What you see here is the entrance on the ground floor. Behind it is a little atrium, and a room which is made of glass. It is a very special object with strong architecture. But you don't have much freedom to make it your own thing. There are three other floors upstairs, but everything is very clear and dedicated to a certain use. I would say it's great, but it's not for someone who has his own mind. Maybe that's what I dislike most. The owner gave me the key so I could be in the house for a couple of hours. Some friends of mine came later to share some ideas... It was interesting, because I had a lot of questions in my head. Which kind of life do I wanna live? How much privacy do I need? What about the noise from the streets? How important is it to have a good lookout? What about the neighborhood? What’s about my hangout? More questions than answers... Have a great evening, folks!

This morning I jumped off the taxi a little bit earlier. I walked slowly down the street to watch and breathe, when I recognized these two well-known buildings. The left one is an old historical factory from the 19th century, while the other one is pretty new. One is made of stone, while the other one is made of steel. The steelone was just made a couple of years ago. I guess it will never be something that we wanna protect for the future. For me most of these "temporary buildings" are insulting to my aesthetic feelings. However, to stand still for a couple of minutes was a good beginning for the first working day of the year.
