I found this nice vehicle on my way back home today. Don't know the story or the holder, but it gives a great colorful and simple shot in the middle of autumn. I wish you a nice evening today.

Today I suffer from delusions of grandeur and so I planed a ride of 65km with about 1000m difference in altitude. When I took this picture I was almost clueless of the zero degree, the snow and the clouds I had to pass later... Ahhh and by the way, do you know what a "Hungerast" is? The americans call it a "bunk". What a funny word fur such a serious thing! I fell bunky? Jesus, I had not enough food with me, because I thought that I can get a coffee and a delicious tart o pomme somewhere out there. But everything was closed and I did it with two bananas and a bottle of water. Folks, tomorrow I definitely take a rest or maybe I will have a fever... Night altogether.

Yesterday I talked about percipience and today I found this advertisement on my way I pass for about eleven years now. It's an advertisement for beer and the claim says "for slim people". I can't remember a time in the past in which it was popular to discriminate people who are not slim... Very strange. I checked it the brewery still exists and I was a little astonished that it wasn't gone with the political incorrectness of the claim... Anyway. I'm happy to notice this funny label.
For some reason, Bunny decided to #stayhome and #mope. Not me!

Maybe I should change my project from 365 to n industry culture project?! But on the other hand I like it to find this places in town. So everything is ok and I continue with my 365. What we see here is a part of the Deutzer Harbour which is actually near Poll. I guess this pump (or whatever it is) is out of order and abandoned. I also have different pictures from abandoned places in my stream and while I think about it I come to the idea to show you some of the places in the future... Have a nice evening folks.

This happens if you shot your deep black MacBook Pro display with the Sony RX1! I was astonished because I couldn't see more than a light shadow of myself when I looked at the display. The RX1 is a hell of a little camera! So I spend my me-time picture of the day (which was taken at the cafe ala tarte once again) to this powerful demonstration of may daily companion. :-) Folks, I wish you a nice weekend! Cologne will have another cold snap and lots of rain, so that I think I don't get a tour this weekend.

In my pre-low-carb days this was my favorite restaurant in Cologne. Last night I dreamed of starvation, so I immediately went to the Pane e Cioccolata and ordered a world class Quattro Stagioni pizza, with wine and coffee. Now I'm at home, and I think about dreams and their meanings. The night before I dreamed of Hamburg in November . . . .

One of my favorite contemporary photographer is nadav kander. I saw an exhibition here in cologne, two years ago and it was the first time I was really thinking about buying such an expensive artwork. The body of work I saw here was called "Yangtze - The Long River" which is about the yangtze river. The yanktze river flows over 6500km from the countries most westerly point in the qinghai province trough both the most sparsely and densely populated regions. When I crossed the river rhine this morning with my bicycle to go to work I saw this scene. It reminds me of kanders work, because of the colourlessness, the silence and the mist. I took a couple of minutes to breath and to take the picture and I was happy that I could start the day with such a great memory and atmosphere. Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr.

I wrote about my headache yesterday. Today I was at a funeral, and after that, I got a sore throat. So I did two things. First I went to the Gravis Store to buy an Apple Airport Express, second I got some medicine, let's call it "the fantastic three," to be well prepared for the upcoming night... Let’s see what will happen. I hope I will be able to post in the next days. By the way, if you have any questions regarding the connection between an Airport Express and the Sonos Zone Player, you can connect with me after my convalescence... Cheers!

Ok, I must admit that this is a bit crackbrained. But anyhow, I'm in a good mood today. Maybe it has something to do with my coincidental meeting with the organist in the Böhm church yesterday, or with my home office day. Don't know. And the longer I think about it, I find that I have a headache, and that I'm incredibly tired today. Strange thing, but I give a shit on further causal research, and try just to enjoy it. I wish you a nice Valentine’s evening/night, and all the best. Thanks for following my s**** on Flickr, folks!

Folks, I feel that I'm very happy with that shot. I can feel that in a certain way and it makes me happy. Unfortunately there is no correlation between my feeling and the amount of comments, faves or an appearance within explore. And sometimes I'm astonished about that fact. Then I must remind myself that it should not be the attention what counts, but the own feeling for the things we do. Anyway, I had a little ride today to get this picture. The actors are: The highway, the suburbs of cologne, some ugly residential areas, a pond, two aggressive swans and a flood area, my wet shoes and of course the tunnel... I don't tell more, but maybe you can let your phantasy flow... Have a nice evening folks.

Today I'm sucked up, but after a hard day of work I stranded at the mainzer hof with some friends of mine. The two guy came along and made great music for some coins. Everything together was a nice end of the day. Now I'm to tired to concentrate me enough for a little text. So I wish you a nice evening and thanks for following my s**t on flickr.

Today Antony leaves to New York with his mother. I brought them to the airport and everything worked well, even when there was a lot of traffic because of the holidays. It is always strange for me to be at an airport. It's an own world and everything is about leaving or reunion. Today I had to say goodbye till the 14th of august. Then we will have our reunion in Las Vegas... Also a very different cosmos at the other side of the world. Till then there will be so many new impressions in my life and I'm exited what will find it's way to my 365 project... Folks, this will be a flickrless night and so I wish you all the best and see you tomorrow.

These days are hot here in cologne and maybe thats the reason why the shutters are close. But have you seen the edges of the windows? There were two more of these windows in the house and every single one was like this. Can you see what kind of materials are used for the borders? Yes, the borders are made of Lego. Don't know if this kind of toy is also known in other parts of the world, but in Germany every child knows the little bricks and tiles from which you can build your own little world... I find it very creative to use them as a building material. Thanks folks for following my project on flickr.

Today we start with a blue sky. In the afternoon we got some heavy rains and the temperature was falling. Later when I drove home it was cold but dry and so I did some detours to find my daily shot. I love it to drive around with my old bicycle which I bought in 1985. I also love it to find impossible locations like I did last week with the shack. The breakers yard of Theo Steil is of course a fund for every photographer even if you can't enter the area without breaking the rules... Nooo I won't! :-) I'm sure they have an army of german shepherds which will frazzle every intruder immediately after he entered the area... So I'm very satisfied with my shot from outside and the imagination I had. Folks, I wish you a nice evening.

There was a family day at the parish fair today. So we went there to get a special offer for the carousel. About one million others had the same idea and so we squeezed ourselves through the crowd. I'm always fascinated about the masses and the lights in the night. I took this picture from the bridge, where many other hobbyists where taking their pictures with a big effort of tripods and tele lenses... I prefer the fair from above and from a secure point of view. Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr.

Carnival is called the 5th season in Cologne and it begins today at the 11th of November. Thousands of carnevalists from all over the world are celebrating the beginning of the foolish time of the year. But it's not all about being drunken, singing or smooching around its also a serious tradition off course. Colognes Carnival Clubs are trying to get a UNESCO status for this kind of tradition. Did you know that the Brazilian carnival is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage? I hope the UNESCO is joining colognes street carnival before they decide...

On my way back home I stopped in the rain to get a quiet moment after two days of working together with some colleagues. We used the second day to get a deeper dive inside the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) model. I swear it was very interesting but also exhausting and so it was great to get a moment inside the car while the rain was falling on the roof. The cars from behind gave me some short moment of light to take the picture. Somehow it was strange because time after time and car after car I had the feeling that the light was directing me into the woods... After a while I started the car again because it was a strange feeling to be attracted by the darkness and the wet landscape...

Today we made a nice little boat trip on the pond near the beer garden, with a heavy and decrepit paddleboat. The temperature in Germany is about 36° C which is97° F these times. The humidity is more than 50%. So we were very amused to hear the rattling of the chain and to feel that the boat stops in the middle of the water. Antony was pulling as he can, but nothing happens. Also to paddle like an insane was not successful. So I stood up and pulled as hard as I can and voila, our catch was an old supermarket trolley. The people around looked at us with some scepticism and I shout out loud that everything is very normal and nobody needs to be concerned... For me it was a bit funny to have the trolly on board, but we decided to bring the finding on the direct way to the land, before the whole boat will capsize with our belongings and my nice camera. A little bath would be a good idea these times. Folks, I wish you a nice evening and thanks for following my s**t on flickr.

Folks, there is no time today to make much words. This evening I will be at a 30 years class reunion. I was thinking if this costume in the picture would be the adequate clothing for such a celebratory and nasty event. I remember the last time we had a class reunion. I guess it's fife years ago. I even can't remember most of the ugly faces as well as I often can't remember my own old face... Funny stuff and we'll see how the world changes in consequence... *lol*

The last half year is gone with a picture of a cycling old man and the next half is coming with exactly the same perspective. The girl here in the picture will have been passed the river Rhine later via the same bridge I usually take on my way to work. I must be attentive that I don't be to careless when it goes around cycling. For this shot I watched through the ELV and I had to focus manually. All in all it took about 4 seconds, where I had to drive hands-free and look through the ELV. Later on it was more spectacular when we were on the bridge, but it was really to dangerous and to narrow and the pictures I took where totally out focus. Folks, I wish you a nice evening and see you tomorrow.

Today I have a hangover. To much wine, to much meet to less salad and water... The little ride with my bicycle brought me to the "world famous" Rheinauhafen of cologne, where luxury apartements are face to face with the biggest tankers which are loaded with patrol, gas, oil or other chemicals. What you see here is a part of the tanker named "Piz Palü" which is also the name of a mountain of the Bernina Range, located between Switzerland and Italy. The tanker is from Switzerland and it was so nice painted and so clean that I would instantly eat from the deck... Just great! So here we go, with a clean and decent picture of this swissmade dream of a ship.

Today I'm lucky! I explored an edge of the town where I've never been before. And folks, I got some awesome pictures... But at the end of my lap I meet for guys near a modern and very expressionistic church in Buchforst, a part of Cologne. The building was astonishing and while I was looking and sneaking around they ask me if I'm a photographer. I said yes and ask them if they are brave enough to get in front of my camera. At the first picture I took they were standing in front of a wall made of little stones. Later when I realized that the wall here in the picture would be the better deal, the fourth of them wont join us. So I took this one here, also if the guy with the red t-shirt isn't there. So I asked them if I should send the picture to them and thats what I'm going to do later... It is so privileged to run around and have such a great project and thats why I'm happy today. Thanks folks for following my shit on flickr.

Folks, today I don't have much me-time apart from Lunch. Only very rarely I go to the Köln Arcaden to get some asian food. It's not only because of the poor quality of the restaurants, it's also because of the offensive interior of a mall like this. It's a bad accumulation of shops and advertisements like the dogs in the picture. Anyway, that was the moment for me. I took some minutes to run around and to search for a convenient view... Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr, Facebook or tumblr.

At the 28.th of september colognes banana republic is celebrating it's 4th birthday. The place in the middle of the road was "occupied" through a group of people who plants a banana plant 4 years ago. I guess the man in the picture is the so called "El Präsidente de Bananenrepublik" who is checking out if everything is in the right place. For me it was a good luck that he was there while I was passing with two bags full of things from the supermarket. Maybe I will visit the birthday party next week. Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr.

My cousin from Australia moved temporarily to Germany. Very complicated story! He has been at my flat for some days and in the afternoon I attended him to the train station. On the way we stopped at the Funkhaus Cafe near the Wallrafplatz to geht a coffee and to chat a bit about familie and this and that. Familie is such a strange construct and it's definitely hot and cold... Anyway, downstairs there was this room with a great atmosphere. I like the light and the form factor of the lamp and I like the picture on the right, which you actually can't see. It's a picture of an old broadcasting studio of the WDR. Folks, I wish you a nice weekend.
wuppertal - 16.05.2013
Do you know Wuppertal? I went there today to visit n old friend of mine. Almost 30 years ago we worked together for a IT company. Today he's a medical practitioner and I stay close to the IT bizz. We hadn't seen us for about 11 years, but today we met each other in wuppertal. Wuppertal is a legendary city with the elevated railway which is been shown in the picture above. I'm not sure if the legend about the elephant is true or not, but it tells the story about an elephant which was riding the railway until he get into panic, smashed a door and jumped out of the wagon straigt into the river called wupper. Do you know this myth? Anyway, it was great to meet martin again until such a long time and so I will say that this evening was a real great pice of me-time. Thanks for following my s**t on flickr.

This is day 265 and therefore it's exactly 100 days till the end of the project. I was thinking about doing some very special, but at the end of the day I couldn't do more that climbing over the fence of the school around the corner to take this night shot. I used a mini tripod and a torch to get this result. I must admit that I'm not satisfied, but this is the reality. Sometimes it's satisfying, sometimes not. Folks I hope I will make the rest of my project against the weather, the cold and the darkness. Have a nice week ahead.

Today I read in the newspaper that we have the worst park in the world in town. Selim Özdogan, a writer from cologne said this in an interview with the Stadtanzeiger. I've never been in the park in wintertimes (pardon spring), but in summer I like the location because of the water, an open air restaurant and the music or events. Today I must agree with Özdogans opinion, because it was cold, grey, windy and loud. Yes, loud. The highway is nearby and so you hear a lot of traffic noise around. When Fritz Encke realized the park between 1910 and 1913 he used elements of the baroque period to give the park a gaudiness and prestigious composition. At the beginning of the 20th century which was embossed by the art nouveau this approach was a bit out of time. But the solution was not as coincidental as it seems to be. Instead Encke fully complies with the requirements of the city of cologne to build a park with a high part of usable areas like resting areas, paddling pools, playgrounds, laws a pond and a tennis court. I will definitely come back in summer to have a beer or two. I wish you a great weekend folks!

Do you know what a foolshipfountain is? I guess not, but in cologne there are many things about carnival. On my way back home I stopped at this fountain to take some pictures. For the first time since twenty years I realized that the figures are free to move. Also there are many inscription at the bottom. Anyway, I will continue my excursion through the city for the next eighty three days...

This day was a bit exhausting. My boy was ill with a high fever, and I had to go shopping three times, because I needed different things. While on my last shopping tour, I passed this sign, which is on the top of a building just above a tunnel here in Cologne. If you're living here, you get used to it, because it's a well-known sign, which belongs to a project from a guy called Merlin Bauer. He and his team are researching the relationship between the people living here and their city or the surrounding area. Mostly the identification with Cologne is based on the cathedral or some museums. But there is a lot of important architecture from the 50s and 60s here in Cologne. Since 2004, the project liebe deine stadt decorates building from these ages with oversized ribbons. So maybe today it was just the moment I passed the sign. I started to think about the city, the weather and even my surroundings. Have a nice evening, folks!

Today it's good friday and we have snow again in this town. The coldest march since 150 years and a guaranty for a lonely afternoon in the streets. I went to the mediapark to meet a friend of mine and to visit an exhibition. But of course everything was closed, including the exhibition. Before I left the place I took this picture. I don't like the area of the mediapark, because for me it's a lifeless and boring place. But I admire this staircase here. I like the light from above and the artificial darkness in the basement. For me this here is the best link between these two worlds. Folks, have a happy easter and see u soon.
berlin - 20.10.2013
In the morning we walked to the former airport of Tempelhof. Tempelhof was one of the first airports in Germany and it was opened in 1923. Since 2008 it is closed for flights and the flight field is used as a huge landscape park in the middle of Berlin. The whole flight field is used as a place for walking , cycling, jogging and as you can see for kiting and many other sports activities. So I tried my best to take some sharp pictures, but I failed. The AF and the exposure time was not fast enough for a sports event. But as you know I'm usually more into the world of static pictures. Anyway, the day was great and I did my best.
cologne - 30.09.2013
Today I was crossing the bridge again. I thought about what I've learned after 271 days of my personal 365 project. On my way from work I saw different things, some of them more important some less. I was thinking about the trip through the USA and what kind of landscapes and subjects I got in front of my lens. Today I can definitely say that the subject matters. So many different key factors to get a "successful" flickr picture. The strange thing is that often the "successful" pictures are the ones which I don't like very much... I mean there is another level of meaning inside such a project... Thanks folks for following my stream on flickr, facebook or tumblr.
