Today I had a bad issue with iTunes on Mac OS. I couldn't login with my password for about two hours, and I tried everything that you can imagine. Especially strange was the fact that I could login on my MacBook Air, but not on the MacBook Pro. After I restarted my WIFI, everything was working well... Why am I telling you this shit? Because I lose a lot of my valuable me-time. So I took my tripod, the RX1, and went out to have some fresh air and, of course, a picture. Folks, it was horribly cold out there. I went to the pump station near the Rhine and took this picture. You must know that the color of the building changes depending on the water level of the Rhine. If there is high tide, the sewer tunnels are closed, so that the water of the Rhine couldn't flow into the city of Cologne. The problem is, the rainwater couldn't drain off from the city. So they built the pump stations to pump the water out of the city... Good night folks. And thanks, Holger.

Fife to four was the moment I came to standstill. In the morning I brought my gitzo tripod to the postoffice because I sold it to a women in Munich. After that I had a couple of meetings till 3:40pm. Then I hurried to the massage and voila, here we go. Fife to four. By the way I'm selling my whole equipment, because I will quit taking photographs... Just kidding. But on the other hand, I'm selling some favorite pieces like my Leica M9. ebay is a strange place. 120 observers and one bidding. I'm exited how that experiment will end. Folks, I have to do some more work this evening and therefore I wish you all the best.

I do have 28,77% of the 365 project behind me, just a little bit more then a quarter. :-) One day it's easier, the other day harder to stay in focus. So tensed-neck-days are revealed to be a fluke for the project, because it's totally clear what to do... I was knowing that I will have a massage today and so I was looking forward to have a picture. Easy! Maybe I should try to cultivate some knew and helpful traditions?! Now I'm sitting here and I recognize that I lost the tradition to post some pieces of music... At this moment I go for "Wake Owl - Wild Country (Teen Daze Remix)"... Have a nice evening folks. By the way, today I didn't get a buying binge after the massage... :-)

Today I was on my curious way through Cologne. I found this nice shop which sells individual vintage dresses in the greek quarter. Frl. Passerine stands for fascinating victorians, charming edwardians, roaring twenties, feminine 40th, 60th minis. I mean it's not my style, but if I ever like to marry a girl with a 50th style I would buy a wedding gown at Frl. Passerines pretty shop! Have a nice weekend folks.

It was a day full of work, but at the end I climbed a crane to get a photo of a crane... It was a bit strange because of the people around (you can't see them) who where watching me while I was climbing up the metal construction. First I thought that I don't want to have so many viewers, but then I was extremely attracted by the Idea to be eyeball to eyeball with this metal monster... And here we go. After a little dizziness I'm back at home with a nice night shot and a little happiness inside... Thanks for following my s**t on flickr.

The 03.th of october is the day of the open mosque. It was very interesting to listen to the general secretary explanation about the Friday prayer and the rituals of washing and praying. There were so many facts I haven't heard before. In this picture we were sitting in the temporary praying room at the carpets and we were listening the explanations. Only this older women was standing while many non muslim people were listening the words and trying to get a glance of the speaker in the front. For the first ten minutes I was hardly waiting that she disappears, but after a while I took this picture here. In comparison to the one without her, this one here is much much better. Minutes after I took this picture she was going away. Lucky me!

Once the Gerling Group was one of the big insurance companies in Cologne with international branch offices. The Gerling Group was founded in 1918 by Robert Gerling. He was not only responsible for the development of the company, but also for the development of the quarter. In the 1950th he and his architects Hentrich und Heuser planed and builded the Gerling tower building. Mr.Gerling was also advised by the sculptor Arno Breker. Therefore the whole quarter has a very classical and sculptural look. Many years later Günter Wallraff a german journalist was smuggled into the company to find out and write about the anachronistical conditions of work. Nevertheless, Gerling holds a huge collection of art, also of young artists. In 2009 Gerling was acquired by the Talanx Group and today the whole Gerling quarter is changed into luxury flats and offices. I'm not sure, but it could be one of the very rare nice urban development projects in cologne... I'm exited! Have a nice weekend folks.

My empty wardrobe guided me to "the levitating" of Barlach inside the Antoniter Church here in Cologne. How? Because the Antoniter Church is very close to the pedestrian zone of the Schildergasse. Usually this side of the town is a No-go-Area, because of it's massive department stores and shops. I really hate it, but if your wardrobe is nearly empty sometimes it's the easiest way to get something new. For me the Antoniter Church is often a refugium to escape from the crowd while sitting around a watching the angel or just the light coming through the churches windows. Thanks folks for following my stream on flickr.

When the night falls strange things appears, but only in my phantasy of course... Just for the notes. Today I ordered my first camera over the internet. I preordered the new Sony A7r with a 50mm Zeiss and a three year guaranty. It's the first time for me that I don't bear the local shop in mind. I hope I will not regret my decision, but I was so exited about the new camera that I really like to be a early adaptor. We'll se. I guess I will receive the package in November... So that was a really big thing today. I don't explain what you see here. Can you imagine?

The Flughafenstrasse was the street of the dawdlers in Berlin. Today there is a lot of betting business and fast food around here in "Neukölln". But there are also some little seeds of a new and stylish restaurant culture like the "Lavanderia Vecchia", a great italian restaurant with a modern and unique interior and real great food. I would like to post a picture from inside, but I didn't got a good picture this time. So I show the front of a typical dawdler shop. I really much like the decoration with the boar and the strange guy with the rubber skirt and the menacingly necklace. Have a nice weekend folks.

Because of a leak of time I decided to take the underground and the bus to go home. I was hoping to find something interesting on the way. Strange decision, because it was late and I wanted to go jogging before down. As yesterday I only had this single chance to get my daily shot. So I was happy when the three guys entered the train. Young, strong and not to shy to flirt with to young girls. I took this single shot when I left the train and here we go... The only shot I took today, but a few minutes full of life...

This evening, I didn't expect to have enough time to capture a picture and write my text. I was busy till the late evening, but somehow my fate brought me to a gas station somewhere in the west of Cologne. Suddenly I remembered a very special place nearby, the garden colony at Kalscheurer Weg. There is so much to say about the colony that I don't know where to begin. Insiders know the place under the synonym Indianer-Siedlung, which is translated to "Indian Settlement." For several years, it was an unlegislated area, till the colony could get an official status. Today it is a mix of colored barracks and small houses where a great mix of different people are living together. I walked around in the darkness, and it was a little bit scary. There is no regular lightning of the streets or a serious road surface, but growling dogs and very few but friendly people. I met a boy in the darkness who welcomed me with a clear "good evening." Very rare here in Cologne...

This was a hard day with a very long travel. The security stuff at the airport in cologne were on strike so everything was slowed down. Some of you have seen that I took my bicycle with me in a giant box. So it was a bit complicated, but now I'm sitting here in the wonderful house of my friend Holger. What you see a wall painting in the staircase which makes the very old house extremely special! It is a nice and historic building in the small city of Saint-Paul which is one of the favorite places in france when you are talking about artists and light. Marc Chagall and lots of other world-famous painters and artists like Lino Ventura and Yves Montand have lived here. So the small town is very touristic, but at this time of the year it is still quiet. So I hope I can get some regeneration in the next days while sleeping, cycling and taking some pictures... I wish you a nice weekend folks.

Today I met these friendly guys while I was shooting with the new GX7 in front of the camera store. I was so lucky! Unfortunately Lightroom doesn't knowes the RAW files jet, but for my opinion the jpg's are not that bad. Have a look at the detached leg at the side of the white guy...

I'm to late today. But again it was a day full of nice activities, like shopping important things for my holiday, laying in the sun, drinking shakes, visiting nice people and being at a party at the famous place for art and culture called Odonien. There was a kind of trash marked and a great hip-hop live act... Odonien is a fabulous place for subculture in cologne and a thorn in the side of the city. To much free-for-all and to less security... Tomorrow I should visit the Kerbholz Kirmes at the same place with the great Ron Flatter... *lol* Folks, thanks for following my embarrassing s**t on flickr.

...mc fitti? *lol* Jesus christ, I'm so fuckin old, I even don't know the idols of todays youth. Anyway, mc fitty obviously has a beard of a real man and maybe he has his heart in the right place, don't know. What I know is that I like friendly and laughing people especially at this time of the year. What's about you? Are you prepared for a wet autumn and a damn hard winter? I wish you a nice weekend folks. GreetZ C++

It's the 25th of march and I got this picture here. I think this is a lucky coincidence, isn't it?! So I'm happy with the picture especially because I was brave enough to make it in spite of the angle I choose. I'm well known for the 100% symmetry which is of course the poor mans esthetic... So here we go with the shot from the right side. By the way, I would enter the location but I failed again because of a fence and some very nasty thorn hedges. I will exhume my old leather trowser for the upcoming explorations. Please view on black folks.

I cannot really explain what had driven me to play around with masking, filters and blurring. Maybe I saw an example somewhere. Maybe I remembered a dialog with a friend a few days ago, about my only Tilt-Shift picture I ever made of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. Whatever, today I went to the LVR Tower after work, bought a ticket for the lift, closed my jacket and went up the platform. I can tell you, it was fucking cold up there! Everybody in Cologne knows about the political issue regarding the LVR Tower and the cathedral. You must know that Cologne is very Catholic, and when they planed the tower, they had a conflict with the church, but also with UNESCO about the status of the cathedral as a world cultural heritage. I think that’s the reason why Cologne looks like a giant village, even after 2000 years. Thanks my dear cathedral!
rösrath - 14.10.2013
This is one of the rooms in the manor house Eulenbroich which is in Rösrath, a small town near Cologne. Today we had a business meeting there so that I took the chance to get some pictures. It's a nice place which has its seeds in the 13.th century. For me it's always a big difference if I have a meeting at the office or somewhere else. I really much like it to visit new places, already because I have the chance to photograph new things... I don't know if I'm right, but I guess the blue tiles are from delft, which is a little dutch town with a big tradition in tilepainting. They are showing scenes from the typical landscape near the sea. When I was a boy my parents were collecting those tiles as well. For a certain time I was trying to replicate them as paintings on cardboard to give them away to my family for example as a christmas present. Very strange memories indeed.

Instead of having an after work beer with my friends, I went out to get some muddy shoes and a shot of an old front door laying in the wood. It was horrible cold out there and the door was heavy like a standing stone. But so I got a late workout with the wet door and this strange shot here. Little by little I get used to my project. I mean it's really hard to go for it day by day, but I really hope I can make it lately.

Today I was running the business run to get rid of the additional moselle kilos. To much meet and alcohol, you remember? At folks, it was really exhausting. Too hot for my opinion and so I aggrieved myself till the end of the run. On the one hand a good feeling to survive the heat and the run, on the other I know that I'm not trained these days. So I must conclude that it was a crackbrained idea to do this today. Anyhow, after a couple of hours I feel good again and I'm happy to get this catch of the day...

I've told you that I'm currently doing a nursing job. Today I walked to the cafe around the corner and ordered a coffee and two pieces of cake for take away. While I was waiting, I practiced around with the new iMovie for the iOS. To get this minute of video, I had to wait and capture for about fifteen minutes... Nothing really happened, except the people and cars passing by. A bit boring I think, but that’s life, sometimes... The piece of music is "Our Mutual Friend" by The Divine Comedy, just in case you're interested. Have a nice evening folks! C++

Today it was a exhausting long day. After work I had a peergroup meeting in the office which ended around 9.15pm. So good advice is expensive if you have a 365 project in the background. In the morning I already felt that it could be a fuckin long day and so I put my torch in my pocket to fight against the expected darkness. And thats what I did. I drove the little car to the park called "Volksgarten", I pulled my scarf tight, my camera around the neck and the torch in my left hand. Thus armed I entered the entire darkness of the woods to get a picture of the plants above. And folks, it was pure me time to be there alone with the wind, the rain, the darkness and my equipment. I wish you a nice St Nicholas' Day tomorrow.

Somethings changed in the streets. I see so many foreign buskers, so many old people searching for deposit bottles or bagging for some coins. So many of them are old and the poverty is blatantly obvious. But whats about the manifesto of the CDU/CSU? I see so many perfectly satisfied politicians, so many words and much more laws... This guy here is from Russia. Unfortunately couldn't he speak german or english, so that we talked with hands and feeds. He told me that he is a bad guitar player, but I disagreed. He was drunken but he could play and sing like an insane. Minutes after the shot there was an heavy rain so that we must jump under a porch roof. Folks, you can't imagine how many bags he had. Everything was totally wet within two minutes. I wish you a nice week and thanks for following my shit on flickr.

Cologne made it! Today we got the official consent from the Cabinet that we will have our own gambling house in the future! That will be the fifth casino in North Rhine-Westphalia. Ok, I'm not a player but for all the compulsive gamblers it may be the last chance to lose their money in a controlled environment. *lol* By the way, the income of an official gambling house will sponsor different charitable purposes. So Cologne will hit 48 flies with 24 fly flaps! They will officially earn the money from the compulsive gamblers, do something against the black market casinos all over the town, and flush the money into social projects... I'm very curious and happy, that I've found the night scene while walking around through the darkness... keep on playing, folks!
Radox, candles, book all inclusive with a natural soundtrack of wind howling, rain falling and creaky joists. #sheerbliss My 'Me' time and my eyelids are heavy. Dread to think I've just got into the bath. What will I be like in over an hour?
berlin - 18.10.2013
Very early in the morning I finally decided to travel to berlin even though I'm still flabby. It wasn't a spontaneous idea, but till yesterday I just could dream to travel due to my cold. But the temptation was to big to resist. It's like a flash for me to change the surrounding. I can easily find a ton of new motifs where ever I go... Don't know if I can ever get enough from traveling and seeing new places... Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr.

There can't be a better place to ask such a question then a garage door. Just imagine. It's a monday morning, you just finished your breakfast and you took the stairs from your apartment down to the garage. Even before you open the door you will read your own words in big letters: "when was the last time you did something for the first time?". You would have the choice just to take a different way with your car. You can drive the to the sea instead of driving to work, or you can just leave the door, walk op to your apartment to sit on your sofa and feel the time is going by... what would you prefer to do for the first time? Thanks folks for following my s**t on flickr.

The weather in Cologne is enough to drive me mad. Little light, cold, wet and always so much snow that everything looks dirty and muddy. So, it is very important to go outside to prevent depressions and physical degeneration. Today my way brought me to the muddy field of the urban gardening project, NeuLand. I was too late for the seed exchange today, so the place was abandoned, and I had some time to check everything out. I think it must be hard to occupy an area, work together, build up all these things and then, after a while, you are banished by one of these fuckin real estate companies. There is so much to see and to explore, and I must admit that I'm always a little bit awestruck when someone is skilled in working with plants and gardening. Maybe I’ll post a sad picture of my balcony plants later... I wish you a good start into the new week, folks!

After about 25 years today I went to the ice rink with Antony. I was really scared about my foot links and of course to get a torn ligament... And so the style of my run was a bit like a old robot who has to life with a certain rigidity of his whole iron body... Very funny! And this kind of movement was so exhausting that my whole body was full of paint after every round. The guy in the picture was the firs runner who came in front of the big field after the machine did it's service for the frozen surface... Maybe I have to get some new skates which are made for old man, not for hockey players... *lol*

Today I had planned to see the Matisyahu concert here in Cologne. But I changed my mind after a whole day of trouble and meetings. I had no energy left to travel to the Luxor, and the idea of standing around for hours and listening the support and to come home after midnight, was just absurd for me. How good that we have a new restaurant here in the southern city of Cologne, which is the first new branch of the well-known and popular Meister Gerhard at the Rathenauplatz. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere warm and comfortable. After I took this picture and finished dinner, I walked around to get some exercise, a little fresh air and maybe a picture. But as usual, it was nearly impossible to combine a good shot with a strong intention. And by the way, I climbed a spire wall to have a look through a window into an interesting exhibition. But I couldn’t get more than some scratches on my right hand and a couple of very boring pictures...

One of our most important partners has a branch office in this building above. The RheinauArtOffice is the best example for ecological sustainability and cost effectiveness. For example it uses geothermal energy for the cooling etc. I really much like the concept and even more I like the architecture. The second thing in the picture is our great marina near the rhine. I wouldn't go so far to compare it with any other serious marina in the world, but I swear, we did our best here in cologne... My dentist, who has her doctor's office with a view to the water says that she misses one or two light, to illuminate the landing stages. Insofar we can easily increase the attractiveness of the facility. Now I say goodbye for today and I wish you a nice and relaxing evening.

A world full of living statues are populating the area around the cathedral here in cologne. They are standing still with their hat in front of them. Not so this guys here. Yes, they were sitting motionless, starring like statues, but if you put a coin in the box they began to laugh, giggle and shake the bottles full of coins. Such a great performance! For me this is real creative to do something very new. Have you seen this kind of performance before?

I remember the coldness of january 2013 when I carried my gloves with me to take the daily picture. This evening it was horribly cold outside so that I missed my gloves a lot. Anyway, to take this picture I had to improvise. First I bought french fries and a curried sausage to warm up my fingers. Then I walked up the stairs to the visitor platform of the chocolate museum. Of course I hadn't a tripod, but I had some tissue to put them under the camera to get the right angle... Then I needed some minutes to get the right perspective and to eat my fries while shooting the scene... Folks, I wish you a great evening.

When I don't have enough time to really find something special I take a couple of minutes (like a break) to find something in the banal. Yes that's the reason why I've made this picture... Wo can find the man sitting on a bank? It was raining and therefore there was nobody else around except the guy and me. The little park is the Humboldt Park and I must always smile when I think about this great name for an insignificant place. My way to the company leads me through this park every morning and every evening, but today I stopped my cycle and captured the silence around. The man with the beer was sitting there and he didn't move, even when it was raining. For a little moment I was thinking about getting in contact, but I hadn't enough time and so I passed without holding-up. Have you ever stopped to have a smalltalk to a stranger?
