Scenario: The Whooping Cranes that were already in the bay were not at all happy to have new ones join them & what appeared to be a large male (Actually I have no idea if it was male or female... ;-) proceeded to make it's stance known by chasing the new arrivals and making them move on down the beach.

It's just incredible to watch all this interaction...So amazing & so beautiful.

I whacked yesterday's basket apart with scissors. You can read about it here ;-)

1967, Plywood covered with fiberglass and resin. It's Pink. It's at The MoMA in NYC and it looks like a pink stick of gum!

It is really a laquered monochrome "plank" made to look like a surfboard. McCracken was interested in the 1960's southern California culture and aesthetic.

A Little Better View of the Pelicans

Apparently the Pelicans also enjoy watching the sunset. They have the best seat in the house!

I've added a little history to the previous Naples Pier shot - very interesting. These pilings were nearby, but I don't know what their history is....

"One of North America’s largest grouse, the Dusky Grouse used to be considered the paler, interior subspecies of the Blue Grouse. Recent DNA evidence supports the spilt of the Blue Grouse into two separate species, the Dusky Grouse and the Sooty Grouse.

During breeding season, can be found in dry grasslands and shrublands as well as dry mountainous forests and subalpine habitats. In winter, found almost entirely in coniferous forests." -allaboutbirds.org
