Another Oklahoma birder (Thanks, Bill Carrell!) mentioned seeing Short Eared Owls yesterday at the Tallgrass Prairie preserve near Pawhuska, OK. Today we watched as many as 8 or 9 gliding low over the tall grass in search of food. It's so fun to watch them!
"A bird of open grasslands, the Short-eared Owl is one of the most widely distributed owls in the world. It is found across North America, South America, and Eurasia, and on many oceanic islands." -allaboutbirds.org
