Zwischen Weihnachten und Neujahr findet auf der sonst viel frequentierten Brennerachse kaum Güterverkehr statt. Trotzdem nutzte ich am 30. Dezember 2024 das traumhafte Winterwetter, um ein paar Aufnahmen bei Langkampfen im unteren Inntal zu machen. Zumindest ein Kesselwagenzug, geführt von 1293.061, konnte bei frostigen Temperaturen dokumentiert werden.
There is hardly any freight traffic on the otherwise busy Brenner axis between Christmas and New Year. Nevertheless, I took advantage of the fantastic winter weather on 30 December 2024 to take a few pictures near Langkampfen in the lower Inn Valley. At least one tank wagon train, led by 1293.061, could be documented in frosty temperatures.

Zum Allerheiligenwochenende 2024 kehrten kurzfristig lokbespannte Wendezüge auf die KBS 945 zurück, um das gestiegene Fahrgastaufkommen aufgrund der Streckensperrung zwischen Freilassing und Rosenheim zu bewältigen. Den Reisenden nach München wurde nämlich nahe gelegt, den Weg über Mühldorf zu nehmen. Passende Fotostellenden gibt es an dieser Strecke nicht allzu viele. Um etwas Variation hinein zu bringen, wurde der Blick von oben gewählt. Hier sieht man am 01. November 2024 bei Salling die 218 498 die RB 27978 in Richtung Mühldorf schieben. Im Hintergrund kann man den Kirchturm von Kay erkennen, der Landstrich dahinter gehört dann schon zu Österreich.
For the All Saints' weekend in 2024, locomotive-hauled push-pull trains returned to the KBS 945 at short notice in order to cope with the increased passenger volume due to the line closure between Freilassing and Rosenheim. Travellers to Munich were advised to take the route via Mühldorf. There are not too many suitable photo spots on this route. To add some variation, the view from above was chosen. Here you can see 218 498 pushing RB 27978 towards Mühldorf near Salling on 01 November 2024. In the background you can recognise the church tower of Kay, the area behind it already belongs to Austria.
Am 06. März 2025 konnte ich die 152 053 von DB Cargo vor einem gemischten Güterzug beim Überqueren der Altmühl bei Dietfurt aufnehmen.
On 6 March 2025 I was able to take a photo of DB Cargo's 152 053 in front of a mixed freight train while crossing the Altmühl near Dietfurt.

Einen seltenen Einsatz gab es am Nachmittag des 09. März 2025 bei Niederaudorf im Inntal zu beobachten. Die 1116.195 bespannte den RJX 564 von Flughafen Wien nach Innsbruck HBF. Die "nightjet" Werbelok war im österreichischen Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr bisher kaum zu sehen.
A rare operation could be observed on the afternoon of 9 March 2025 near Niederaudorf in the Inn Valley. The 1116.195 hauled the RJX 564 from Vienna Airport to Innsbruck main station. The ‘nightjet’ advertising locomotive has hardly ever been seen on Austrian high-speed services.

On the edge of south-east Queensland’s Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast hinterland. O’Reilly’s is 46 miles (75km) inland from the beaches of the Gold Coast and 70 miles (113km) south-west of Brisbane. The steep and often narrow road winds up the mountain from the village of Canungra; a gorgeous scenic drive but one to be tackled with care. At the end of the road, the guesthouse is surrounded by the thick forest of the national park, with its ancient Antarctic Beech trees, waterfalls and colourful birdlife.

One of the things I love about living where I do is the view of the mountains to the east and the west. Not bad! And, yes, you can see the rooftop of my house down there on the right.

I keep seeing stories about Gunlock State Park and the beautiful falls. I love them so much! When you go, don’t forget to visit the reservoir itself. There’s a newly improved campground and great places to go kayaking, paddle boarding or fishing. It’s a great way to spend the day or the weekend. And whatever you do this Memorial Day weekend, have a great one! Please be safe out there!
Meine beiden Lieblings-Werbeloks von TXLogistik waren am Nachmittag des 01. Dezember 2024 als fotogenes Tandem vor dem KLV-Zug DGS 43153 von Köln Eifeltor nach Verona Q.E. zu beobachten. Die 193 555 vor der 193 640 konnte ich bei Niederaudorf im Inntal fotografieren. Leider ist diese Konstellation so nicht mehr möglich. Die 193 640 wurde inzwischen an den Vermieter Beacon Rail Leasing zurück gegeben. Die mit Motiven entlang der Brenner-Strecke gestalte und mit dem Slogan "connected by rail" versehene Werbelok verkehrt aktuell für Helrom, ist aber in ihrem ursprünglichen Einsatzgebiet verblieben.
My two favourite TXLogistik advertising locomotives could be seen as a photogenic tandem in front of the intermodal train DGS 43153 from Cologne Eifeltor to Verona Q.E. on the afternoon of 01 December 2024. I was able to photograph the 193 555 in front of the 193 640 near Niederaudorf in the Inn Valley. Unfortunately, this constellation is no longer possible. The 193 640 has since been returned to the lessor Beacon Rail Leasing. The locomotive, decorated with motifs along the Brenner line and bearing the slogan ‘connected by rail’, is currently operating for Helrom, but has remained in its original area of operation.

Calm is a state that begins within, but it’s highly influenced by external factors. Be mindful of the power of those influences to better preserve the calm. They can’t always be changed but even acknowledging them improve our state of mind.

Wenn die richtige Eisenbahn bei mir vor der Haustür fährt und ich zu Fuß zum Fotografieren gehen kann, dann darf ich mir das natürlich nicht entgehen lassen. Am 24. November 2024 führte smart Rail für seine Mitarbeiter eine recht frühe Weihnachtsfeier durch und hat sich dafür etwas ganz besonderes einfallen lassen. Es wurde ein Sonderzug von München nach Tegernsee eingesetzt. Die Fahrzeuge hierfür kamen aus dem DB Museum Koblenz. Dabei handelte es sich um die 101 001, sowie drei Reisezugwagen, die bei der sogenannten "Abschiedsfahrt Drehfalttür" in den Schwarzwald zum Einsatz kamen. Darunter ein BordBistro vom Typ ARkimmbz und der in zwei Farbschemata gehaltene IC-Steuerwagen Bimmdzf 287.2. Die 101 001 überführte den Wagenpark aus Koblenz, ab München HBF wurde die 218 308 von HEROS davor gespannt. Diese Lok kenne ich von Kindesbeinen an, war sie doch lange in Mühldorf beheimatet und zog - damals in purpurroter Farbgebung - Reisezüge ins bayerische Oberland. Den besagten Sonderzug, der unter der Bezeichnung DZ 1795 nach Tegernsee fuhr, hielt ich beim Überqueren der Isar auf der Grosshesseloher Brücke bildlich fest.
If the real railway is running on my doorstep and I can walk to take photos, then of course I can't miss it. On 24 November 2024, smart Rail held a rather early Christmas party for its employees and came up with something very special. A chartered train travelled from Munich to Tegernsee. The vehicles for this came from the DB Museum Koblenz. These were the 101 001 and three passenger coaches, which were used for the so-called ‘Farewell trip with the revolving folding door’ to the Black Forest. These included an ARkimmbz BordBistro and the Bimmdzf 287.2 IC control car in two colour schemes. 101 001 hauled the wagons from Koblenz, with 218 308 from HEROS hauled in front of it from Munich main station. I've known this locomotive since I was a child, as it was based in Mühldorf for a long time and hauled passenger trains to the Bavarian Oberland - back then in purple-red livery. I captured the special train in question, which travelled to Tegernsee under the designation DZ 1795, crossing the Isar on the Grosshesseloher bridge.
Rosguill Peninsula, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
In Tra Na Rossan I find the actual wooden boardwalk leading through these grassy dunes as beautiful as the beach itself. I love how it winds and excitingly leads people onto one of Donegal’s finest sandy beaches. On either side of this walkway can be found gentle grazing cows & friendly sheep. 🐄 🐑
I often watch folk leisurely walking along this boardwalk, around halfway they seem to increase their speed a little. Then just like in this photo, as soon as they approach the final league they often start running & cheering with joy knowing that they have reached their own little piece of paradise. Trust me you will do the very same when visiting Trá Na Rossan Beach ️

A two shot panorama of the S.A. Salt works ponds.
There was a rainbow over Lake Alexandrina at the time.
I managed one shot with the rainbow that was more intense but a different angle and the pink, in the ponds, was not as intense.
I tried a blend but gave up.
I was satisfied with this shot with just the bottom part of the the rainbow visible.

I took a similar image back in October, when the river was bathed in autumn fogs. In the winter it looks also beautiful, with the sun just above the horizon. The water is partially frozen - on the left the river branch is completly frozen, because the sluice for transit is currently closed.

In visual art, postminimalist art uses minimalism either as an aesthetic or conceptual reference point.
Postminimalism is more an artistic tendency than a particular movement.
Postminimalist artworks are usually everyday objects, use simple materials, and sometimes take on a "pure", formalist aesthetic.

Die Brenner-Schnellzüge 286/87, 83/82 sowie 86/287 sind bisher die einzigen Leistungen, bei denen ÖBB Vectrons planmäßig im Reisezugverkehr zum Einsatz kommen. Hierfür sind ausschließlich die 1293 047 bis 051 vorgesehen. Letztgenannte konnte ich am 17. November 2024 vor RJ 87 von München HBF nach Bologna Centrale bei Niederaudorf im Inntal fotografieren. Kurz danach verschwand die Sonne hinter einem Bergrücken.

I was able to photograph the latter on 17 November 2024 in front of RJ 87 from Munich main station to Bologna Centrale near Niederaudorf in the Inn Valley. Shortly afterwards, the sun disappeared behind a mountain ridge.
