Masters store located on the corner of North Lake Road and Phoenix Road - one of nine stores in Western Australia for the Woolworths-Lowes (USA) joint venture in hardware. Opened in mid 2012 it was located in a cutting partially obscured from the road opposite Adventure World theme park. Heavy losses against incumbent rival Bunnings in part due to an aggressive expansion (often next to Bunnings stores such as this one) and low sales have seen Woolworths abandon the category altogether and announce closure of the chain by early December 2016 with a liquidation sale starting August of the year. These shots were taken early in the closing down sale.
The stores (including several development sites) have been sold to Home Consortium who will reconfigure the sites to a combination of Spotlight, Anaconda, JB Hi Fi, The Good Guys and Woolworths supermarkets. Rival Bunnings will take over 15 of the 61 stores open. Liquidation is being carried out by the Great American Group with evidence seen in the large 'STORE CLOSING' and 'GOING OUT OF BUSINESS' signs more commonly seen in the closing of large stores in the United States.

My new friend Philip is a huge Halo fan, just like me. However, I think the fandom goes more in his favor, as he made this Master Chief suit out of paper.
Paper. He made it out of paper.
It's incredible to see in person, and when he sent me a snapshot of it, I knew I had to photograph it.
This is personal work, much like the Legend of Zelda and Wolverine series' I did over the last few years.
I had a total blast making these images.

Nicer Large on Black
I had considered shooting this for last week's macro monday (assignment was Security) I shot this instead but I still wanted to do one of this object and since today wasn't presenting me with any other ideas I present this to you.
I enjoy setting up and shooting product shots; even though I don't really have a reason to do it. Other than I enjoy it. And I guess that's ok :) Well that and the models rarely complain when you shoot them.
Shot with my 70-200 at f/18 using 48 mm of keno extension tubes (36+12). light from a 580exii bare above the subject at 1/8 power. B&W processing in Nik Silver Efex.

It was boiling hot and humid but Colin somehow managed to look and stay cool in his suit. Colin paid great attention to the various details on his uniform.
He said he could stand the heat quite well, having served in the Persian Gulf.

Because we were spectators, not fans, we have no idea what the hole names are. Feel free to guess in comments.
It took me a while to do some details with this model like putting lightning effect colours on the power sword and trying to have a better painting scheme(a metallic blue like armour).

Canon430 on stand, CTO gel, into silver umbrella, bouncing off ceiling just to right of camera. Old Quantary flash, CTO gel bouncing off ceiling on camera left. Fired using Cactus wireless triggers.
For GEEK mode a dual card is needed. Some do not work correctly. This is likely to be an incompatibility with master/slave settings. My card defaults to 2 CF (dual) mode, with Master 1 and Master 2 set.
An indication of incompatibility will probably emerge when you plug the CF card into a PC for formatting. If the PC cannot access cards in both slots, your master/slave settings are wrong.

Only the most devoted grill master will manage to grill his Super Bowl Sunday steak in a blizzard. That's my Hubs! And yes, I chose to photograph the phenomenon from the warmth of my kitchen.
I have never cared for the phrase "Jack of all trades master of none". It gives a compliment and at the same time takes it away. Just like the person who will never be satisfied with the skill that you have 'mastered'. I think the genius who originated that phrase must of been having a bad day. All it takes is to have only one person that you made happy in the performance of one of your skills to realize that you have become a *Master*... then you have become *Master* of *Yourself*.

Travel Master of Carrington Volvo Plaxton Panther SV07ACY (ex M555TMG) seen in Anglesey.
This was originally a 15m coach working for Stagecoach on Megabus but Travel Master found it too big for their needs and had it shortened by a metre.
Seen here on one of it's last jobs for Travel Master.

Opened in 2015 it was built within the Cranbourne Homemaker Centre immediately next door to an established Bunnings store.
