Butterfly Gate ATC
This ATC was created using 4 separate stamp designs by Lost Coast Designs, using the masking technique.
This process allows you to create overlapping images where you stamp the items closest to the foreground first and then mask off each successive image before stamping the next image until you reach your furthest background image last.
(I stamped a masks for the mannequin, wings and gateway using Eclipse Masking Tape and trimmed them close to stamped edges)
To create this ATC; I first stamped the diamond corseted mannequin from the Mannequins Set.
Once the ink had dried on the mannequin I masked it off and then stamped the wings. The wings were then masked off and the gateway was stamped next. After the gateway was masked off I stamped the script background.
I removed the masks and colored the ATC with a combination of pastel pencils, decorative chalk and markers.

The comb above the coffiure on this female Yaore mask suggests an affluent woman or the wife of a rich man. The comb prevents her carrying burdens on her head. This is a classic example of the naturalistic style of the Baule and Yaure, with long face and nose, small mouth and incised hairdo.
The plaster on the mask sorta messed it up a bit by making it not as flexible, but it's still decent I think

Phase three continues. Many do not follow the rules of Governor Raimondo. Storefront and office doors warn about wearing facial coverings. Liquor store sales are up 45%. Office lunches are done with social distancing and masks. PPE debris continues to accumulate on streets. Some teenagers comply with proper facial coverings. Coronavirus case numbers are starting to increase. An older physician continues to work despite the risks.
Hangs on the wall of my friend's place in Morocco. Why are some masks so silent yet weirdly powerful?
