Sometimes, you've just gotta kill a couple of bottles of something and get weird in your friends basement with a few cameras.

Here is a half-mask I am currently working on. I was not intending to make this a half-mask but once I had the upper lip in place, I knew I could not go any further down the chin.
I took this photo on the last weekend of the 2013 Venice Carnavale. There were no planned events so I just spent the day wandering around - the city was mobbed and there were great photo ops all over the place - this was good and bad since it was hard to get the masked characters alone. What a great day in Venice!!

Students were introduced to the art and craft of making mask using the products thermoplastic, liquid latex and other principal mediums. They had the opportunity to choose their own projects. During the semester, the students created a plaster face cast, learned to sculpt in “wet clay”, formed the mask in thermoplastic, and prepared the mask to be worn while learning the basic elements of design: line, proportion, balance, mass.

I got this "plies goon mask" at the corner store yesterday so I could use it for this one idea I had, but I didn't feel like doing it today, I'm probably going to save that for a weekend picture. But on to this picture, there's a few things going on.
1. I look like a robber/mugger/thief with that mask on, which is kinda right considering two of these hats aren't mine lol I took them from my friend Ryan. I'll give them back though.....maybe.
2. I like wearing hats, I need more.
3. uhh idk, you tell me.
4. I wish my dad would of helped me take this shot (it was kinda hard to hold the camera with one hand and a deflector on the other) but he didn't like the "plies goon mask" so he rejected my call for help lolol

My daughter N. made this mask in art class for Mardi Gras. I have a few cheap ones I bought in New Orleans laying around the house still, but this has a level of authenticity to it because it was handmade.

Wir alle tragen Masken,
und es kommt der Zeitpunkt,
an dem wir sie
nicht mehr abnehmen können,
ohne dabei Stücke unserer Haut
mit abzutrennen.
