February had turned mild, but March arrived with a burst of deep cold (-30 C without windchill this morning). The mild period had melted a lot of the snow off the Ottawa River, exposing the ice beneath. The cold wind has scoured the surface of the river, leaving textured areas that look like the surface of the moon. A frost has hit the far share, leaving everything with that uniquely beautiful (and very cold) look. Overall this is a cold image - appropriate for this frozen wasteland. This is my first share from the litte Voigtländer Ultron 40mm f/2 SL-II pancake lens and is a combination of four portrait oriented frames stitched together. Check out the image gallery for the lens here: bit.ly/Ultron40Gallery

Technical Information: Canon EOS 5D Mark IV + Voigtländer Ultron 40mm f/2 SL-II | Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X2 (use code "dustinabbott" to get 10% off)

We had a visit, more a raid, by a heron two days ago. Some fish were taken, but the survivors have been taking refuge since under the pump. We saw a heron in our garden during the winter and scared it away, but they never forget a possible source of food!

My new Minolta flagship, used by a pro in the days of film, he used it up to the era of AF, he then switched to the Minolta 9000.

He was also a Minolta dealer, with some nice new-old-stock items, like the Rokkor 1.7/85 mounted on the XM!

The camera still works like it should! :-)

I intentionally over-exposed this one a touch (+1.3EV), and I think I like the effect. I find the glowing nature of the picture quite appealing.

A month from 6 years old. First Grader. Has her first loose tooth. Slightly crazy.

This old lens can get quite creamy when left wide open. I could have probably stopped it down some to get better DOF, but I liked how it turned out. Looks kind of like a painting.
