I like to do these kit shots, not to show off (or to get in trouble when the Mrs sees just how much kit I have accumulated) but as a bit of a record and for the people on here who might be interested in looking at and comparing kit.

So the line up of lenses from left to right is;

Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM

Canon 24-105mm f4 L IS USM

Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6

Canon 50mm f1.8

Sigma 30mm f1.4

Canon 135mm f2 L USM

The rest...

Canon 7D

Manfrotto 055XProB (Legs)

Manfrotto 804RC2 (3 Way Head)

Hitech Grad Filters;

ND2, ND4, ND8, ND8 Reverse, ND16 Hard Edge

Cokin P Slimline filter holder

Circular Filters;

B+W ND110 77mm 10 Stop ND filter

Hoya ND8 77mm

Kenko Circular Polariser 77mm

Hoya ND8 72mm

I have UV filters on all the lenses to protect the front bit of glass.

Questions, comments and queries are all welcome :)

Photograph taken at an altitude of Three hundred and twenty nine metres in the magic of a rainy and misty Golden Hour around sunrise at 04:58am on Monday 25th May 2015 off the A855 close to The Storr, showing The old man of Storr, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

To capture this shot, my wife and I set the alarm for 3am and parked in the small car park off the road. The climb up to the Old man of Storr is incredibly steep, and I can honestly say we did not think we would make it at points along the way. Eventually we cleared the two main wooden gateways and arrived below the impressive rocks in the mist, the final climb needing the skills of a mountain goat which precluded us from even trying.

The Storr (Gaelic: An Stòr), is a rocky hill on the Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye with a steep rocky eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay, contrasting with gentler grassy slopes to the west. The Old Man of Storr rises to 535 metres and is visibile from the main road between Portree and Staffin on the west coast of Skye. Dominating the scene and visible fom many more parts of the islands the Storr is the hill immediately west of the Old Man and rising to 719 metres with xdcramatic cliffs on its eastern flank.

A Night shot from down by the River Thames, looking back up towards St.Pauls Cathedral.

St Paul's Cathedral, London, is a Church of England cathedral and seat of the Bishop of London. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604.[1] St Paul's sits at the top of Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the City of London, and is the mother church of the Diocese of London. The present church dating from the late 17th century was built to an English Baroque design of Sir Christopher Wren, as part of a major rebuilding program which took place in the city after the Great Fire of London, and was completed within his lifetime.[2]

The cathedral is one of the most famous and most recognisable sights of London, with its dome, framed by the spires of Wren's City churches, dominating the skyline for 300 years.[3] At 365 feet (111m) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962, and its dome is also among the highest in the world. In terms of area, St Paul's is the second largest church building in the United Kingdom after Liverpool Cathedral.

St Paul's Cathedral occupies a significant place in the national identity of the English population.[4] It is the central subject of much promotional material, as well as postcard images of the dome standing tall, surrounded by the smoke and fire of the Blitz.[4] Important services held at St Paul's include the funerals of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill; Jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria; peace services marking the end of the First and Second World Wars; the marriage of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer, the launch of the Festival of Britain and the thanksgiving services for both the Golden Jubilee and 80th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. St Paul's Cathedral is a busy working church, with hourly prayer and daily services.

I am going to Seoul and Tokyo this Summer. Since it is going to be hot I needed to replace my shoulder bag with a waist bag. I think I came across a winner. This is the Manfrotto CSC Waist/ Sling bag that I just got in from B&H. It was $50 after the $20 mail in rebate.

I put my Fujifilm X-T3 and X-T1 in front of it for a size comparison. The X-T3 has a 50mm f2 with the lens hood. The X-T1 has the 35mm f2 with the lens hood. To me this is the perfect size. I can carry both cameras with my batteries, sd cards, and cleaning supplies. There is not a lot of wasted room. They say that you can carry a full size Ipad inside it with the camera gear but I personally think it would be a little tight.

I only have a couple gripes about this bag. I like the green color but inside the bag is camo. I'm not a big fan of going through customs in a foreign country with any camo items. I think the buckle could be a little better but I can probably rob one off another bag that I have around the house. I will probably also add some zipper pulls.

I think this is the best waist camera bag that I have seen for a mirrorless camera. I look forward to wearing it this Summer.

There is always something to improve so version 3.0 is in development stage for season 2017.

And what I done in the version 3.0 was:

- painting pipes flat black to reduce reflections in windscreens

- shortened threads in screws to faster assembly

- changing this short Magic Arm to the big Multiblitz friction arm with Manfrotto camera plate

- changing the Manfrotto pump cups to the way stronger Woods Power Grip suction cups

- covered the friction arm and extension stud with carbon fiber decal purely for esthetic reason

I was looking around my room what I can take a picture of for this day, and saw my bro-in-laws tripod.

I think I've had this Domke bag for five years now but I'm still impressed at just how much fits into it. Sure, it has its shortcomings, the most infuriating of which are the way-too-small velcro latches that love to spring open or the tendency to topple over its front side. But it's massive and it protects my gear well.

I can't figure out how to add notes to the image in the new flickr photo page, so here's a list of what you're looking at:

Manfrotto 055CSPro4 Tripod with Head

Canon 24-105 f4 IS

Canon 5D with attached 50mm f1.2

Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS

Lens Cloth

Canon TS-E 17mm f4

Canon 580 EXII

LEE Big Stopper and Polarizer

Remote Trigger and Receiver

Tabletop Minitripod

LEE Filter Holders

2x Pocket Wizard Plus II Transceivers

Pens and USB Sticks

Tripod Plate

Pocket Wizard Cable

This is my walkaround setup for single-day trips. It's doable if you get to put it down after an hour, so as long as a bus or car are involved it's ok. Otherwise this is too heavy and one or two lenses get left at home or the backpack comes out. I often carry a Canon 2x Extender III and an IPad Air with this but those not in this picture.

“Siwan” connotes equilibrium.

The arrangement of elements in a composition to achieve visual equilibrium.

A perfect balance of physical forces such that when two or more forces act upon a body, the body remains at rest.

In geology, a balance between form and process, e.g., between the resistance of rocks along a river and the erosional force of the water.

One of ECM’s finest releases. Ever.

Construction began on the $100,000,000 Center for the Arts in 2011. The Center opened to the public for the first time on October 28th, 2013, as the recently renamed Moss Center, after artist Patricia Buckley Moss who donated $10,000,000 to aid in the endeavor. I'm pleased enough with this shot straight out of camera... and to lazy to edit.

Manfrotto compact light tripod, マンフロット COMPACTライト三脚

Manfrotto clamp is hooked on my tripod, I can lower that in a second, holds up to 15kg.

Manfrotto 026 Swivel Lite-Tite Umbrella Adapter, may be out of production.

The Manfrotto Clamp is still available.

Picked up these short two-section Manfrotto legs a few months ago from my favorite local camera store then added a GItzo ball head. They have no center column and the legs spread almost totally flat.

I've only used them a few times, but they are very handy for shots like this. Shown with the Olympus Pen-F with Olympus 12-50mm

Nikon D3200, PHOREX by Jaworskyj ND1000, Manfrotto COMPACT Action. Edited in Lightroom 5.7 and Tonality CK.

For the resourceful DIY-er, an outdated or broken high quality ball head can be converted or restored for duty. If you know what you're looking for, there are some nice bargains out there. I just finished my last project, a Manfrotto 488RC0 with a broken quick release, let go for $15.65.

The ball head itself was fine.

I happened to pick up a new Manfrotto MSQ6 conversion kit last year for only $15! It's Arca 'style' compatible so I knew I might use it one day.

Even bought an extra new factory plate for only $5 from the seller. The conversion was easy as heck and now I have a large midi ball head for $31! :)

The MSQ6 system isn't 100% Arca-Swiss compatible, so shame on Manfrotto! Perhaps that is why this $100 kit was only $15. Fortunately, my L-bracket does fit. It can't accept Arca-Swiss plates, but the Manfrotto Q6PL will fit Arca-Swiss clamps. Something to keep in mind for anyone considering the MSQ6.

Shot in 720p HD on the Nikon D90. Then run through Windows Media Encoder set to 500x282 1Mbps.

I just got home from a day shooting some photos at the Republic Of Texas motorcycle rally. I put my new waist bag to the test before I take off to Japan and South Korea. I am a big fan of this bag. It passed the big test of being much cooler than a shoulder bag during the oppressive heat and humidity this weekend. I took a Fujifilm X-T3 with the 50mm f2 lens with attached lens hood. I also had the 35mm f2 lens, 4 batteries, my sd card wallet, and a small cleaning kit. It fits perfectly but there is no extra room. My shoulder fits all of the above plus an iPad, 2 water bottles, plus a few more small items like a wifi hotspot. The Manfrotto offers quick access for those quick once in a lifetime photos.

I will take both bags on my trip because sometimes you just need a little extra room. But sometimes you can just do without a few items and want to try your best to stay cool.

Manfrotto Street CSC Camera Sling/Waist Pack

This arrived today!

I hadn't mentioned it previously as I was only about 65% sure that it was legitimate - the advert seemed to suggest it was just the focal puller accessory according to the picture, and the price was about right, but the description was for a full kit... plus the focus puller. And the discount was considerable.

For reference, the focal puller costs anything up to about £120 depending where you get it from.

The gimbal is about £299.99 - some places have it a bit cheaper.

So when I saw it advertised by a Dutch photography store I have used before for little bits and pieces for £119.00 including the postage to the UK you can imagine I was sceptical.

Brand new, never opened, never used.... and just in time for a job I have tomorrow that requires some video work too!

Should come in handy if I decide to go back to University next year... again...

Not in picture: 350D + kit lens (used to take photo), Manfrotto 190XB tripod + 488RC2 ball head. Hope to add a 5D classic to the mix sometime soon.
