In the Summer of 1976 Stevensons of Uttoxeter and Midland Red North adopted a common livery of yellow with a red roof and skirt, plus a red band above the lower deck windows on double deckers, and a line of white dots along the top of the red skirt. The new livery was similar to that already in use by Midland Red North but Stevensons initially used a deeper shade of yellow. A common fleetname style was adopted with lower case lettering alongside a new logo that depicted the Staffordshire knot, the Stag's antlers from the Midland Red North crest and the sunrise of the original Stevensons fleetname. At the same time the Stevensons fleet was renumbered in the Midland Red North series.
The first Macclesfield bus to be repainted in the new livery was Stevensons 181 (D176LNA), a Mercedes-Benz 609D with Made to Measure 25 seat bodywork that had been acquired from Marriott, Clayworth (Unity Coaches) in 1988. It appeared in June 1996 painted yellow with a red skirt and roof but the white dots and fleetnames were not applied until July 1996 and it was later renumbered 126 in the Midland Red North series. It was photographed at Macclesfield bus station on 17 August 1996.
