i've found these malachite butterfiles to be very patient models, allowing me time to approach up close with a 100mm lens and move around in search of a decent composition
this one in particular ended up on my lens afterwards, perhaps hanging around for some type of compensation...

Ein wunderschöner Grünspecht (Picus viridis) in seinem natürlichen Lebensraum. Mit seinem auffälligen roten Scheitel, der schwarzen Gesichtsmaske und dem olivgrünen Gefieder ist dieser Vogel nicht nur ein seltener Anblick, sondern auch ein echtes Highlight für Naturfotografen. Aufgenommen bei der Nahrungssuche am Boden, wo er bevorzugt nach Ameisen sucht.
