Florence & The Machine live at Hammersmith Apollo. Quite enjoyed the gig, hammersmith apollo is fun for allowing everyone to view the gig with it's rack slanted floor type floor thing. Florence Welch(ums) is uuber photogenic and has a lovely voice, though sometimes I feel like she should focus on singing at times rather than relaying it to the audience. She does get shouty at some points too which bums me out.

Odd method for rug hooking using a sewing machine. It would keep the loops more secure but it would take longer to complete.

Drilling Machine made for the display "Space Panic" at the french convention Brick à Dole 2017.

In the spirit of "Classic Space", the drill fits easily into the display.

The small challenge of this construction was to divert the Christmas ball Lego to build the cockpit of the drill .

To complicate my life, I built this machine in version "Tripod"... 3 "legs" to give it a look "Alien"

High point of the show ! Smoke (with a smoke generator) comes out of the crater under drill machine. (See the video)

I am happy, I find this machine very fun :)

The Nikon 85mm f/1.4G aka "The Cream Machine" is finally here! Praise the Lord for His blessings!

Not a mixer cover, but a sewing machine cover created by altering my pattern to fit the machine's dimensions. Main fabric is Alexander Henry "Sew Now Sew Wow" and is perfect for the application! Trim is a simple calico dot in lipstick red.

Since the pocket is so wide, I added a bit of velcro at the center to keep it from bagging open. The button is purely decorative to mark the spot.

Similar styles available by special order in my Etsy shop twill tape!

Well, why not shoot objects from time to time--it is fun, to try to make them look good!

These photos were shot at our University (www.h-ab.de) at the lab of Prof. Volpe, for a publication about PCB prototyping.

STROBIST

Two speedlites, manually adjusted, one on the left side shooting through a diffusor, on on the right side, with a blue gel, shooting against a silver reflector (actually: it was the cover of the diffusor, taped to the wall). The speedlites were triggered via YN-602 RF transmitters. Still my favorite work horses. :-)

PHOTOSHOP

Not that much, the usual cloning and stuff.

For the right one I stacked two shots to get the drill and also the logo sharp.

Why not close the aperture for that purpose?

Because that would need too much flash power and furthermore the lens would be not that sharp anymore (not on the "critical aperture" setting).

Why not zoom out?

Yes, that would give me the DOF I wanted, but the perspective would change (cropping would have been ok, there's plenty of resolution left). I tried that and I did not like the wide-angle perspective.

So I just did two shots with varied focus and aligned these in Photoshop (btw.: Photoshop did a good job regarding the aligment and a bad job regarding the merging, so I did the merging my hand).

MAKING-OF (german)

This shot was taken early Monday morning on Slacker Hill. The clouds above the fog were a precursor to our exciting lightning storm later that night. After watching the insane fog show Sunday night on the cams, I decided to try my luck the following morning. Unfortunately it was the nasty fog with high winds on the Marin Headlands. I waited for my friend, Mark, and we decided to try Slacker in spite of the horrible conditions. As expected, it was pretty ugly with sloppy fog and high winds. Surprisingly the North tower was making brief appearances through the fluctuating fog. We could see some high clouds above, and decided to set up our gear.

Next to us was Della Huff already set up, and shooting. We were crouched low blocking our cameras from the wind and fog with our tripods set to the lowest height. The North tower revealed itself a few times in the one hour we were up there. This twenty-second shot is the only thing I walked away with that morning. I really didn’t think I captured anything, but I was really happy when I saw the shot during the upload. Even though this shot is not textbook low fog, I really like the colorful clouds above. I’ve always wanted some type of shot like this.

Having these high clouds in the upper atmosphere gave me a better understanding of our “low fog machine” at the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a simple recipe of warm air aloft blowing off shore, and cold air beneath blowing onshore. What makes the perfect low fog event is beyond me, so I just keep a close eye out when the conditions are right. On this morning those high clouds above were floating out to sea, and the fog was howling into the bay. It was pretty cool to witness the warm aloft doing its thing.

Happy Friday! Hope your weekend is wonderful.

A couple of weeks' ago, my washing machine died. You don't realise how much you use your washing machine until it's out of action ... appreciate your washing machine! Thankfully my mum lives nearby so I took bags full of washing there.

We have a new machine now, but I thought the old one would make a cool shot for No.46 - Useless, in 111 in 2011.

In 1946, the first TOYOTA sewing machine was built under the strict supervision of TOYOTA founder, Mr. Kiichiro Toyoda. Mr. Toyoda had a strong belief that home-use products must be "functional yet beautiful".

The HA-1 was so highly regarded that it was allowed to use the same TOYOTA trademark as the TOYOTA automobiles.

WIT: I was at my favourite Italian restaurant, and the owner kindly let me take pictures of the the coffee I ordered. It's a pretty cool looking machine. In post, tweaked colours and cropped to 8 by 10.

First sketches and models for the Time Machine, a new interactive art project created by Pataphysical Studios.

In this brainstorm session, each team member sketched out their own ideas, then discussed them with the group, to design our upcoming time travel experience together.

Next, we plan to create a composite design with some of these ideas, to integrate them into a single blueprint.

To be continued ...
