For this attempt, I used an italian meringue, baked at 325 and used a double baking sheet. This produced a result better than the previous 5 consecutive days but still nothing to write home about.
My amazing OH got me some birthday macarron from Selfridges as a surprise. He even put birthday candles in the box!!

I made macaroons for the first time yesterday. I chose the recipe from "Baking with Children" book, I thought even I would be able to cope with the method but I still managed to mis-read desert-spoonful for teaspoonful so instead of being little dainty things filled with pretty buttercream, they were in fact pretty huge but still filled with pretty buttercream.

Sofi at 15 is a great cook. And she became obsessed with learning how to make Macaroon's last year after our return from Paris. She has mastered the technique, which is quite involved and makes them now quite regularly.
My friend Lisa has opened a new coffee shop (with lovely food too) opposite Boothstown Library. It's called Bexters Coffee Co and these are some of their macaroons - yum!
