The start of a walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station to the very nice little city Muiden. Though I have been in Amsterdam uncountable times I've been to places there I'd never been.

L’étude du projet du Canal du Nord a été réalisée en 1878. Les travaux ont débuté en 1908, soit trente ans plus tard !!! Rien de changé aujourd’hui avec le projet du canal Seine-Nord…
L’ouvrage est au ¾ terminé en 1914. Cependant, se trouvant dans la zone des combats, les dégâts seront importants durant la Grande Guerre interdisant une rapide reprise des travaux.

Le Canal du Nord, comme tout autre canal sur le territoire est constitué de plans d’eau de différents niveaux, séparés par un barrage : une écluse. Au total sur les territoires du Pas-de-Calais et de la Somme, 19 écluses sont comptabilisées.

The Muiderslot is a castle in the Netherlands, located at the mouth of the river Vecht, some 15 kilometers southeast of Amsterdam, in Muiden, where it flows into what used to be the Zuiderzee. It's one of the better known castles in the Netherlands and has been featured in many television shows set in the Middle Ages.
The Muiderslot is currently a national museum (Rijksmuseum). The insides of the castle, its rooms and kitchens, have been restored to look like they did in the 17th century and several of the rooms now house a good collection of arms and armour.

Het kasteel heeft een slotgracht met een ophaalbrug.
Het kasteel werd gebouwd aan de monding van de Vecht in de Zuiderzee, waar tegenwoordig het IJmeer ligt.
Direct bij het kasteel ligt Muiden met zijn haven.

Since 1977, summer sailing has been concluded in the last weekend of October with two days of competitive sailing from Muiden. The Muider Hardzeildagen are the end of the season for ships, including many botters, tjalks, skûtsjes and two-masted clippers.
The Hardzeildagen have an illustrious past and are known for the cozy parties, the fun competitions and the crowded harbor of Muiden during the race. Side by side large and small sailing ships are moored and the harbor is overflowing with crew members, embarkers and ships.

Niet alle Grauwe gansparen zijn gezegend met een groot aantal kleine gansjes...
Net als veel andere ganzen zijn grauwe ganzen heel sociale vogels en vormen ze paartjes voor het leven.
Bij ganzen zijn de kleur van poten en snavel belangrijk: bij de grauwe gans zijn snavel en poten oranjeroze.
Broedt van april tot in mei/juni. Eén legsel per jaar met vier tot zes eieren (bij uitzondering tot 8 eieren).

Fanno bella mostra di sé nella bassa luce serale di febbraio due automotrici Stadler della compagnia NStCM. Sotto Le Muids, il tracciato effettua alcune curve in campagna aperta che offrono una splendida vista sul lago Lemano e le alpi francesi.
Zwei Stadler-Triebwagen der NStCM machen im tiefen Februar-Abendlicht eine gute Figur. Unterhalb von Le Muids macht die Strecke einige Kurven in der freien Natur, die einen herrlichen Blick auf den Genfer See und die französischen Alpen bieten.

Solo 4 minuti dopo, nella direzione opposta, la generazione precedente del parco rotabile di NStCM effettua una corsa per Nyon.
Nur vier Minuten später fährt die ältere Generation der NStCM Rollmaterial in der Gegenrichtung nach Nyon.
Ik had het geluk om op 18 november 2005 tussen Weesp en Muiden twee mDDM's en profiel vast te leggen.

De Groote Zeesluis uit 1674 ligt in het centrum van Muiden. De sluis verbindt de Utrechtse Vecht met het IJmeer.
De sluis is sinds 2005 een rijksmonument.
De Groote Zeesluis is een bijzondere sluis met 3 sluiskolken naast elkaar.
Een sluiskolk is de ruimte tussen 2 sluisdeuren.
De sluisis 50 meter lang en ligt ten zuiden van het Muiderslot.

The Groote Zeesluis from 1674 is located in the center of Muiden. The lock connects the Utrechtse Vecht with the IJmeer.
The lock has been a national monument since 2005.

A lock chamber is the space between 2 lock gates.
The lock is 50 meters long and is located south of the Muiderslot.

The Waterkeringpad is a walking route between Amsterdam Central Station and Huizen and consists of eight sections. Check all sections here. The route follows the dike along the former Zuiderzee now the IJ Lake and the Gooimeer. A unique experience, walking on the dike! Before 1500 the Diemerzeedijk between Maxis and Muiden was made from clay and construction waste. From mid-fifteenth century, the old sea wall was a retaining wall of wooden poles. Between 1732 and 1744 it was replaced by a stone slope which could better absorb the powerful waves. The Waterkeringpad is a 36 kilometer long trail. We are walking section no.6 from Naarden to Oud Valkeveen. Between Laren and Huizen is the nature reserve Naarder Eng located. Here ends the Utrechtse Heuvelrug at the former Zuiderzee. The Naarder Eng is known as the best preserved arable land. There is much to discover. The fields grow cornflower, corn-cockle, field pansy, chamomile, poppy small, snapdragon and flax beak. Between the arable land is a Oak tree forest. That oak is used among other things used as firewood in smokehouses. Observe the edge well since the deer and rabbits are frequent here. The fungus is found on dead branches and stumps, almost exclusively of deciduous trees. In the water, the grass snake sometimes seen. Waterfowl are abundant. From the Eukenberg and Aalberg you can look far beyond the Gooimeer.

There is much to discover. Between the arable land is a bird sanctuary with a beautiful beech tree forest. The ground is covered with fallen Autumn leaves. The hiker did not want to spoil my photo. But I said please go ahead. The hiker was just the cherry on top for my photo.
Het Waterkeringpad is een wandelroute tussen Amsterdam Centraal Station en Huizen en bestaat uit acht trajecten. Bekijk hier al de trajecten. De route volgt de waterkering langs de voormalige Zuiderzee nu het IJmeer en het Gooimeer. Een unieke ervaring, wandelen over de dijk! Vóór 1500 bestond de Diemerzeedijk tussen Maxis en Muiden uit klei en bouwafval. Vanaf midden vijftiende eeuw kreeg de oude zeedijk een beschoeiing van houten palen. Tussen 1732 en 1744 maakte hout plaats voor een flauw aflopende stenen glooiing. Die kon krachtige golfslag beter opvangen. Het Waterkeringpad is een 36 kilometer lange wandelroute. Wij wandelen traject nr.6 van Naarden naar Oud Valkeveen. Op de kop van de stuwwal van Laren en Huizen ligt natuurgebied de Naarder Eng. Hier eindigt de Utrechtse Heuvelrug bij de voormalige Zuiderzee. De Naarder Eng is in beheer bij het Goois Natuurreservaat en staat bekend als de best bewaarde eng bouwland van het Gooi. Oud Valkeveen wordt omringd door vogel- en natuurreservaten. De Zwarte Specht, en de hoornaar insect zijn voorbeelden van relatief zeldzame dieren, die hier te vinden zijn. Er is veel te ontdekken. Op de akkers groeien korenbloem, bolderik, akkerviooltje, echte kamille, kleine klaproos, leeuwenbek en vlasbekje. Tussen het bouwland liggen restanten eikenhakhoutbos. Dat eikenhout is vroeger onder meer gebruikt als brandhout in visrokerijen. Let bij de bosrand goed op de reeën en konijnen die hier veelvuldig voorkomen. De zwam is te vinden op dode takken en stronken, vrijwel uitsluitend van loofbomen. Het pad richting Oud Valkeveen is een fraaie afwisselende wandeling langs grote beukenbomen, dennenbos, varens en langs het Gooimeer. Bij het water wordt de ringslang soms gezien. Watervogels zijn er in overvloed. Vanaf de Eukenberg en de Aalberg kunt u tot ver over het Gooimeer kijken.
De Utrechtse Botanische Tuinen zijn opgericht in 1639, drie jaar na de oprichting van de Utrechtse Universiteit.
In de Utrechtse Botanische Tuin vind je Fort Hoofddijk, onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie en gebouwd in 1879. Het fort bestaat uit een hoofdremise en twee zijremises. Daarnaast is er nog een kruitkamer en is er een aantal groepsschuilplaatsen.
De Utrechtse Botanische Tuinen zijn aangelegd op en rondom de diverse remises. De aanwezigheid van deze remises maakte het mogelijk een relatief hoge en grote rotstuin aan te leggen. Voor de aanleg van de rotstuin op de linker zijremise was desondanks toch nog zo'n 2100 ton steen uit de Belgische Ardennen nodig.
Met de aanleg van de tuin op Fort Hoofddijk is begonnen in 1963. Fort Hoofddijk, of Werk aan de Hoofddijk zoals het officieel heet, is een onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. De 'oude' Hollandse Waterlinie was een verdedigingslinie tegen de oprukkende Fransen die vanaf 1672 functioneel was. Deze oude Hollandse Waterlinie liep van Muiden naar Woerden en via Schoonhoven naar Gorinchem. Na 1815 besloot het Rijk om Utrecht binnen deze linie te leggen. Dit was het begin van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie die loopt vanaf Muiden tot aan de Biesbosch.Stelling van Utrecht
De Stelling van Utrecht is een onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie en bestaat uit 2 kringen van in totaal 16 forten rondom de stad. De forten liggen in een halve cirkel aan de noord-, oost- en zuidzijde van Utrecht.
De Heilige Nicolaaskerk in Muiden is een Rooms-katholieke kerk aan de Herengracht in Muiden en is geclassificeerd als rijksmonument. De kerk is gewijd aan de heilige Nicolaas van Myra die de beschermheilige is van de vissers en zeelieden. Hij is ontworpen door de architect van Rijkswaterstaat T.J. Sluys en is een zogeheten waterstaatskerk.
Saint Nicholas Church
The Saint Nicholas Church in Muiden is a Roman Catholic church on the Herengracht in Muiden and is classified as a national monument. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra, who is the patron saint of fishermen and sailors.
En 1223, le fief existe déjà et son seigneur en est Pierre de Longué. Il donne aux religieux de Louroux une rente d’un demi-muid de vin à prendre dans ses pressoirs de la Bouchardière. En 1302, Jehan de Brézé reçoit de son père, par testament, la terre de la Bouchardière. Il y fait vraisemblablement construire le bâtiment actuel. En effet, les éléments sculptés et la manière de bâtir placent l'époque de la construction à la fin du XIIIe - début du XIVe siècle.
Le domaine reste dans la famille trois siècles durant, jusqu'en 1609. Au moment de sa vente, le fief existe toujours mais le bâtiment est dit en ruine et décadent.
Au XXe siècle, il ne reste plus qu'un grand pan de mur, qui constituait la face sud d'un puissant logis-tour. Il contient encore un couloir de circulation et un escalier, qui permettent de deviner les distributions médiévales.

The Diemerzeedijk stretches from Amsterdam to beyond Muiden. The clay dike was built in the 13th century to protect the land from the Zuiderzee.
Located on the grounds of an old fortification from the 80 Years War, the Sint-Donaaspolder is a nature reserve near the border of Belgium and the Netherlands.
The characteristic flat church tower (14th c.) and some houses of Sint Anna ter Muiden can be seen on the horizon.

De Groote Zeesluis is een rijksmonumentaal sluiscomplex in het centrum van de Nederlandse stad Muiden.
Het sluiscomplex vormt de verbinding tussen de rivier de Utrechtse Vecht en het IJmeer.
Omstreeks 1674 is in of bij Muiden een sluis gebouwd om overstromingen vanuit de toenmalige Zuiderzee tegen te gaan en te dienen in het inundatiesysteem van de Oude Hollandse Waterlinie.
De sluis wordt nu voornamelijk gebruikt voor de pleziervaart. Drie kolken (2 schutkolken en 1 spuikolk) liggen naast elkaar in het grotendeels bakstenen sluiscomplex.

The Groote Zeesluis is a monumental lock complex in the center of the Dutch city of Muiden.
The lock complex forms the connection between the river Utrechtse Vecht and the IJmeer.
A lock was built in or near Muiden around 1674 to prevent flooding from the former Zuiderzee and to serve in the inundation system of the Old Dutch Waterline.
The lock is now mainly used for pleasure craft. Three gullies (2 lock gullies and 1 flush chamber) are located next to each other in the largely brick lock complex.
