Personally I am a great believer in beer, its taste, flavour and "mood lifting" ability. (All things in moderation).

Wellness is a term that has been hi-jacked a bit by the alternative health movement. But to me it means enjoying your life, engaging in activities which give your body and mind the things you need. Fresh air, exercise, natural beauty, hobbies such as art, good nutrition, love and friendship. All in moderation and suited to you. Leave the gurus and the advertising behind!
Wellness is not to be confused with an illness that needs treatment by responsible doctors.

Arbutus unedo. Madroño.
Árbol / arbusto de hoja perenne característico de las zonas mediterráneas. Curiosamente comparte simultáneamente los frutos en maduración y la siguiente floración en época otoñal tal y como muestra la foto. Así estaban, guapetones y tentadores en el mes de diciembre. Dicen que hay que comerlos con moderación por sus efectos astringentes así como porque en cierta cantidad “emborrachan” (Contienen etanol). No obstante tienen múltiples aplicaciones terapéuticas, alimenticias, farmacológicas y hasta licoreras.

Evergreen tree / shrub characteristic of Mediterranean areas. Curiously, it simultaneously shares the ripening fruits and the next flowering in the autumn season, as the photo shows. So they were, handsome and tempting in the month of December. They say you have to eat them in moderation for their astringent effects as well as because they "get drunk" in a certain amount (They contain ethanol). However, they have multiple therapeutic, nutritional, pharmacological and even liquor applications.

Arbre / arbuste à feuilles persistantes caractéristique des régions méditerranéennes. Curieusement, il partage simultanément les fruits qui mûrissent et la prochaine floraison à l'automne, comme le montre la photo. Ils étaient donc beaux et tentants au mois de décembre. Ils disent que vous devez les manger avec modération pour leurs effets astringents ainsi que parce qu'ils "s'enivrent" en une certaine quantité (ils contiennent de l'éthanol). Cependant, ils ont de multiples applications thérapeutiques, nutritionnelles, pharmacologiques et même de l'alcool.

I don't know if this is Liberty or Guardian as I haven't spent all that much time watching them to tell them apart unless they're side by side. But it is one of the pair that has been nesting at Turtle Bay on the Sacramento River in Redding, California, USA. The Friends of the Redding Eagles has set up a web cam on their nest that live streams to YouTube. My wonderful daughter Carlyanne helped with moderation duties on the YouTube feed for awhile although now I think my 3 year old grandson is keeping her a bit too busy. Mrs. Liberty should be laying an egg very soon and it is neat to stop in and look at the cam from time to time. I caught this one flying right over Highway 44 headed downriver in beautiful golden light on a late January morning.

Aujourd'hui n'est pas un jour tout à fait comme les autres... C'est mon anniversaire ! Il y a un truc qui me ferai particulièrement plaisir; je ne suis pas un grand communiquant, les réseaux sociaux ne sont pas ma "tasse de thé", l'âge sans doute...(un indice : cette année, en astrologie Chinoise, je retrouve mon signe et mon élément de naissance...)J'expose nombre de mes photos sur un site, cela m'a pris beaucoup de temps, il ne s'y passe pas grand chose (très peu de passages); une explosion des visites (toutes proportions gardées) serai un très joli cadeau ! Today is not quite a day like any other... It's my birthday! There is something that will make me particularly happy; I'm not a great communicator, social networks are not my "tasse de thé", age probably... (a hint: this year, in Chinese astrology, I find my birth sign and element. ..)I exhibit many of my photos on a site, it took me a lot of time, not much happens there (very few passages); an explosion of visits (all things considered) would be a very nice gift! If you could share without moderation...

the first bloom on the potted myrtle opened today.
earlier in the year this evergreen shrub was very sick and i thought i was going to lose it. it shed all it's leaves and had to be treated with great care. sun, but not too much, shade but not too much, water but in moderation ... i was just hoping it would survive! flic.kr/p/2oCJtpX

Only two work days until my retirement. This has got me thinking about the balance between work and leisure time. Too much work and a man becomes stark and brittle. Too much leisure time and the mind gets wooly. It's all about moderation me thinks.

No more junk food! Seriously y'all, I am trying! Moderation is the key though.
I recently went to the doctor for the first time in years and to my surprise got a good report. I am so trying to turn my life around phyiscally, mentally and emotionally. I think I am succeeding and I was in such a dark place just a few short years ago. Having a chance to live my life the way it was meant to be is making a difference. It takes time and a lot of patience and I am getting there slowly but surely and feel better every day:)
