Mistletoe is waaaaaaaaay off the beaten track. The last 4.5 miles of Left Fork Buffalo Road to Mistletoe is gravel.

The post office was in the back of the old church building for 25-30 years before finally closing December 30, 1999. I was able to speak with Mrs Couch, the widow of the last Mistletoe postmaster. The church-post office sits in her front yard. She remembers going to church as a child here when it was a functioning Presbyterian Church.

The Christmas street here in Seattle, down by Ravenna.Park - a tradition started back in the early 50's and has been hanging around ever since.

Creeping mistletoe Muellerina eucalyptoides in a scribbly gum, Eucalyptus haemastoma, near the start of the Waratah track. There was one runner on this tree, but most of the dangling mistletoe branches appeared to pop directly out of the scribbly gum branches.

A young Mistletoe plant pushes it's first few leaves out from the apple tree it is hemi-parasitic on.

We found a lot of this mistletoe around central Australia, the lovely green flowers and grey-green leaves of Amyema maidenii Maiden's Mistletoe.

I think this was mistletoe. We also saw the parasitic dodder plant growing off of other plants. Bromeliads too.

Not my image. It's public domain btw nobody owns it.

I hardly ever come across real mistletoe for some reason, so when I saw some today, I had to shoot it - even though it was getting a little wilted. I have some fake mistletoe but I don't ever have real mistletoe in the house because of the pets.

Mistletoe Cottage - Known as the Claflin/Porter Cottage: This house was built in 1900 for Henry Kirke Porter, manufacturer of light locomotives. He was a graduate of Brown University and studied theology. He was associated with many social and charitable organizations, among them the Y.M.C.A. The cottage is basically a Dutch Colonial Revival house. In 1924 John Claflin purchased the cottage from the Porter estate.
