This male Argiope aurantia has been living in my garden most of the summer. Several weeks ago, I noticed that his two front right legs were gone. The lacking limbs didn't seem to cause him any problem and he was able to re-spin his zipper without difficulty.
Imagine my surprise when I checked on him a few days ago to see that he's regrowing the two missing limbs! Until now, I wasn't aware that spiders could do that. A shame we can't harness this ability for humans. Today, he's seen with something big and tasty that apparently wandered a little too near...
The Miracle Theatre opened on December 7, 1948 with Glenn Ford in “The Return of October”. It was a neighborhood movie house with 1,600 seats, which were located on the main floor and a seperate raised section at the rear. Its sumptuous Streamline Moderne lobby, foyer and marquee welcomed visitors to the movies for decades. On June 23, 1978 it was twinned and renamed Miracle Twin Theatre. It became the Miracle 4 Theatres on November 23, 1983.
The City of Coral Gables purchased the historic movie house and, in 1990, the Miracle Theater began a $6.5 million dollar renovation to become the home of the Actor’s Playhouse.
It closed as a full time cinema on April 12, 1995. The Miracle Theater became a performing arts center and returned the theater to its original Art Moderne opulence. Workers stripped off fibreglass wall coverings to reveal green-and-white Deco floral patterns, 1947 designs that had been hidden for years. The lobby was returned to its original elegance with refurbished hardwood counters and wall paneling, restored Art Deco lighting fixtures and signage, and a period-inspired carpet.
Restoration of the beautiful 600-seat Mainstage auditorium was completed in 1995. Mainstage has a proscenium opening 45' wide by 22' height.
In 1988, a portion of the large former balcony became the 300 seat Balcony Theater. The Balcony Theater is used for childrens theatre, smaller productions and by community cultural groups.
The Black Box Studio is also on the second floor. It seats up to 100, and has panels that can divide it up into three rooms. The Black Box performance space is designed for innovative new work, cutting-edge experimental theater, and to provide space for rehearsals, educational programs, and visual arts exhibitions.
Today, the Miracle Theater is still the home of the Actor’s Playhouse theater company. It is a cultural and performing arts center for the community that truly reflects the greatness of the theater’s past.

This image brought me to tears, had 2 frames like this. Snow falling with the sun out and our story of the Short-eared owls appeared in light. The young man in the background had been sitting there all day with the owls flying by him. No edit required.

My plans for today, my day off...I am hoping for a miracle as I try to reclaim my garden from the chaos of weeds, which I should have done quite sometime ago! And please.... PLEASE, don't let me encounter one of those GIANT spiders that I have seen out there.
This photo was taken last summer, through a spider web on a flag pole at my brother-in-law's parent's place on Schooner Head in Maine (and where I will be heading again in July...YEY!!) Of the three rocky promontories that dominate the eastern shoreline of Mount Desert Island — Schooner Head, Great Head, and Otter Cliff — Schooner head is the only one still in private hands and not part of Acadia National Park.The rocky area that you see here is Acadia National Park. The park is adjacent to this property. I can't believe that my sister's in-laws own this amazing piece of property and that I am lucky enough to be going back again...another miracle!

N77 with CSX#59 & #888 head north with 100 coal hoppers. Only 80 have been loaded at Federal #2 mine today. This is a shot I have trying to get for some time. A great shot in nice weather. The sun would come out later but the RR does not wait for me and nice conditions so I took a few photos.
To the left of the train is Miracle Run road. The train is crossing Luther Park road. I explained to a local that lives to the right what I was up to and got the OK.

The 10th and 11th were a couple of tough days, so we were looking to create a bit of levity.
I’d used a device to take some cat hair off of her favorite napping spot and we decided to use that fur to give her a temporary wiglet. She was actually very composed and copacetic about it.
This was a cooperative effort - couldn’t have gotten such a cute picture without my DD’s suggestion and help!

Observed this blackberry blossom change from partially closed to fully open each morning outside my door. I'm not a botanist so I won't comment on this natural behavior, except to say I'm delighted by the simple evidence of miracles and mysteries.

In honor of Mother's Day I am uploading selfies with each of my babies! This is Miracle #3, J.T. He is almost 9 months old but was only 2 months old in this photo. I love this picture because it captures his happy bubbly self so well.
